I have had several dogs over my lifetime. I currently have a GSD male, intact, who is 2 years and 4 months old. I have found him the easiest to train out of all the dogs I have ever owned. He is so eager to please. He does have quite the attitude about him but he is overall a Sweetheart, wanting to do anything he can to make me happy. These are great dogs. 😍
I have lived with four GSDs since my first one, King, was dropped in my playpen. My last one, a Sally Sunshine, passed away two weeks ago at 14.5 years. I never have them "fixed" before they are full grown. Sally Sunshine showed very little aging until 13. At that time we started a routine of supplements and steroid shots. She lived happily for over a year afterwards. My only change will be to start supplements from the outset with my next one. You are doing great work. I would like to add, and I'm no expert, that my experiences have taught me that GSDs are very stoic by nature, regardless of sex. A GSD parent must be observant for injury or pain. They do not seem to communicate their own pain and discomfort well and will keep going in spite of it. When our baby, Sadie Mae, was 10, she suddenly went into breathing distress one night. We rushed her to a University Vet School nearby and she was riddled with cancer. She went regularly to the vet, etc. and no one saw it coming. Only after looking back, did we realize that she had been cutting back on her fetch time. That was our only indication. Ask your viewers to pay attention. Thanks so much for your work. I choose females now simply because they are in my house, I'm getting older and a female will never pee on the wall. That is the only reason. The two sexes are different but equally great animals. I am looking for my next GSD now. I wonder what she'll be like.........
I have a (11 month female German shepherd). She was extremely hard headed. But calm down after her first girly of the month. She’s easy to train/male dogs are more stubborn. It’s amazing to see (Lucy) being so calm though. Btw mine weight 70lbs.. right now.
G’day, mate from Wisconsin USA, hope Lucy and family are doing good in this crazy crisis world. Thanks for the Female GSD tips from the Land Down Under. A terrible accident took our GSD Hardrock so we had to fill the big hole he left with a GSD pup Conan now 4 months old, we might be adding a female in a year or 2. Long Live Lucy
Have two males and one female. By far I find my female easier to train but my males are far more relaxed and social with people, my girl is all go go go

We have a 15 month old german shepherd, she isn’t desexed yet. We are currently waiting till about 23 months (vet Rec). Her heat was pretty easy, she was not very interested in any dogs going near her privates which was great
I just wanted to say that I love your videos and I am going to watch every single one of your videos, I am in the process of getting my first German Shepard! I hope to train her up like Lucy!! 🥺
I watched that video! Thought it was fantastic, great insight. so enjoy watching your videos and seeing your love and passion from both you and Lucy! Looking forward to videos with new baby and BTW congratulations! ✌🏻from USA Glendale Arizona
I have a German shepherd same size as Lucy and she also got fixed at the same age. She is on a good diet and exercise . I am wondering what type of supplements you give Lucy (omega 3, hip/joint supplement) I was looking into giving mine some just to help her in the long run.
Got siblings rottweiler catahoula leopard dog crosses. She's more outgoing, he's little more mellow. Both need lots of attention and love, love learning tricks and commands. Monkey see, monkey do, for sure. Crate trained, potty trained mostly, sit, place, off, stay and the classic "no". 10 weeks old, he's solid black, she's Catahoula Leopard Dog coloring except no glass eyes. Eighty acres so lots of room here at high mountain desert mesa hideout NM. Thanks for your videos!
Hi Zac and Lucy! I’ve.had more females then males as my personal dog’s but between the few males I have had as well as those I’ve worked with as an area dog manager for a large German Shepard/Alsatian rescue group for 8-9 years. I too will attest to the fact that I have found the females to be a bit easier to train. But individually there have been some males that have been easier then some females as obviously it comes down to the individual dog. Genetics 🧬 is primary 🔑 key after that it’s where they found themselves in the hierarchy of their siblings at an early age. Then it’s their individual experience’s in their environments early on that have an effect on their personality and train ability. Small success’s building up to larger ones tend to develop confidence and independence. Where failures or a sense of failing combined with bad experiences tend to make timid and fearful dogs. So I’ve always tried to go on the encouraging and more support full side of training. Generally I try to let them figure out things on their own as much as possible with lots of encouragement and support from me when and where it’s appropriate. Zac I really think your reviewing and commenting on your earlier most popular videos is a great 💡 idea! Love it💯%👍 In so far as looking like an older Hannson I wouldn’t have believed it! Until you posted that photo of the “real deal” 😂LoL!!! As far as getting fatter and grayer It happens to most of us! It’s just part of the privilege of growing older.
I use reusable nappies on my intact female German Shepherd. She has always been good with wearing things so she is fine with them, but we also watch her in case she picks up a bad habit. I should say we began with disposable nappies and she used to bite holes in them. The cloth, reusable ones are the best. She won't touch them.
I have a female right now. But I have had several male GSD. She eats venison, kibbles, and egg. Her coat Is baby soft. She walks a lot in the hunting area with my husband and walks in town with me. My mistake was she was not socialized due to Covid. She is very protective of myself without any training. She is house trained. No biting if furniture. We have always gave her bones and antlers to chew on. I was not able to work with her Like I did my other GSD because if my work schedule. Now I have time and she learns quickly. Lucy is beautiful and well mannered. Thank you for sharing her with us. Aliha from Hawaii.
I adore Lucy. Will you please show her out playing with all her happiness. I want a Geran Sheperd so much, but I lack . what it takes to train. I'd baby them. I admire how well you have trained Lucy. Would you please cut your hair the way it used to be. You looked so handsome then. Thanks Sandy
Would you mind to tell me what your typical training sessions looked like? I feel like after a while the basic sit, stay, lie down, shake etc can get boring for them.
My Brittany Spaniel (smaller than GSD) is not fixed, she is 2 years old. As we don’t want to have a litter we will probably get her fixed but definitely didn’t want to do it before she was fully developed.
Females are not allowed on the police force because they will guard their partner to the point that emergency personnel can't get to them. Their devotion, love, and loyalty is unparalleled.
@@305carolann did you know you can keep your dog intact and not breed them? Spaying just increases risk of health issues. I do have one dog from a breeder and one which I adopted and I can say I will most likely never adopt again, I prefer well breed dogs.
@@305carolann Gonna keep my female intact, also not gonna breed. Crazy huh? Shelter dogs are caused by bad genetics and backyard breeding, not unspayed pets

Malinois, “German Shepherds on steroids”, not really 🤣🤣🤣🤣 They’re a smaller more slim athletic Bruce Lee build if anything. More like German Shepherd on speed, much higher energy
Bro this is not a hate comment. I think your great and full of usefull knowledge.. but u look better with shorter hair (from a male opinion lol) and u said you've put weight on HOW??? YOU NEED TO DO A VID ON HOW TO GAIN WEIGHT WITH A GSD , cuz I've lost weight with the amount I have to exercise my gsd lol.... Thanks for all your help 👍
Spaying at 6 months your dogs growth plates will never close. There are three cancers that spayed and neutered dogs get that dogs that aren’t fixed don’t get. Your dog is more apt to blow her acl. She didn’t have the hormones to harden her bones. She is beautiful. I am sorry you didn’t do research. Now research and feed a balanced raw diet. Not kibble

What kind of food do you feed you German shepherd? For hip joint health, and have you dealt with hip dysplasia?
The females are more protective and are extremely smart.

Hii! How are you?
After such a loooong time?
Our 6 month GSD is 25.5kg already. She's on a good diet with no titbits, just healthy natural treats like pigs ears!
I have 2 females. Both intact. Very healthy, active and athletic. I don’t use nappies when they are in season as they can increase chances of pyo.
Spay your dogs.
Every 9 seconds a companion animal dies in an American shelter.
If you breed for money... get a job. Animals aren't a paycheck.
Nappies. You are in the UK.. how many animals die every day in your shelters?

Look at Lucy ! Is a Dog , better than most of us , she can stay well behave , haaaa
Malinois, “German Shepherds on steroids”, not really 🤣🤣🤣🤣 They’re a smaller more slim athletic Bruce Lee build if anything. More like German Shepherd on speed, much higher energy
