Honestly since it wasn't directly something SD was responsible for I was expecting a title like "Survived the Blip" and thats it. The size of compensation we're getting both for US and non-US is just amazing. Not to mention they themselves recommended using a VPN in the meantime and are still giving it to those who did. Overall a huge W and I hope they can move publishers so we don't have something like this be possible in the future.
The other thing about the compensation is even cosmetics and Conquest fluff can spin into added progress. Say a couple of my variants go into albums and I use a tiny bit of gold to get one more card, which triggers another 2k tokens or credits.
It's not just about 2-day down time. It's a welcome back bonus to entice people back into the game. It's about restoring confidence in the longevity of the game. SD came through and scored a big W. Hopefully, they get back in the app store fast enough to benefit from the publicity.
Why is no one talking about the fact that Ares is On Reveal and not just text. That means he combos with wong, odin, grandmaster, Absorbing man, etc. He's a 4/12 in the surtur deck but when using him with a surtur package into another deck (arishem, wiccan, etc) he is also easily able to reach ridiculous levels of power by repeating that reveal.
Because you need to win his minigame for it to be a 4/12. If you are playing it with a bunch of low power garbage (4/2, 4/4, 2/3, etc) chances are you won't be winning for his on reveal text. Surtur deck is a natural fit because it has a bunch of 10 power card so your chance of having at least 15ish power on the top 3 cards is way higher
@@SubsSociety but if you do win its minigame, you win all of them if you play to a wong lane or whatever. It compares to the same set of cards. And its very well positioned against scaling decks that's cards are weak while they are in th deck. I dont think its going to be an important card now when swarm is running all over the place, but I could see it being very relevant in the future once bullseye gets nerfed.
For real though... play him in a mill deck, as there's no cards remaining in their deck at the end. Maximus + Ares could also be a good final turn play (though 18 power final turn doesn't sound like much these days). Edit: in case I didn't make myself clear enough: Ares in mill deck is not to be played on curve. Instead, he's to be played after you pull all their cards from their deck.
@ Thats an interesting perspective but probably way too nieche to make it work. + What could you even cut? Mill is pretty tight in deckspace. Probably Shang could be cut but then you are defenseless if Gladiator backfires
What you said about not wishing for iron patriot to be nerfed anymore and why is a perfect microcosm of how I have felt about 80% of nerfs. I understand you will argue that well these other nerfs took place after weeks of meta domination. This doesn’t change the fact that when everyone’s playing “the meta” it will make cards seem needing to be nerfed. It’s the same thing just on a larger scale. Patience is the best nerf stick
not sure. Iron Patriot does not win you the game alone. Most card back in the day just fcked you. Like Blob, Loki, Red Hulk, etc. These cards eliminated everything else from the meta
@ only because people were all playing the same stuff. And yes this is why I said 80% OG blob.. yeah , Elsa, leader- maybe ,dark Kawk with Arishim coming out.. ok. But Loki.. storm, pro X , and so many others. Some of these didn’t have to take the hits they took. With time new cards bring new strategies, we don’t have to immediately nuke something that excels on mass and is popular, sometimes it’s just because it’s popular.
@ There is a difference between very popular and opressively broken. Doom 2099 was very popular but disnt have putstanding stats. On the other hand, the before mentioned cards had outrageously high winrate and cuberate. You dont just need to look at what they did, but why they did it.
Don’t know if KM necessarily reads this, but since I previously on his video stated that I would be somewhat frustrated if US got a compensation way surpassing the damage, I just wanted to clarify my stance (as if he cares…); I think the compensation for US is perfectly valid and I think they struck a somewhat good balance between US/non-US. The difference could perhaps have been somewhat more in US favor, but I think it was important that they showed their dedication to the game to everyone. You said it yourself, the worst damage wasn’t the downtime but that the whole game was susceptible to this kind of disruption.
No, discard is not a combo deck. It doesnt rely on specific combo of cards. Its a synergy deck, that has one card that synergizes well with the rest of the deck. That card is swarm. Its synergies are just busted.
I've been playing every flavour of Bullseye Discard imaginable. I will say that in Conquest, I really enjoyed the Helicarrier one. This was simply because it added some unpredictability to my games, and this often was also busted. So for example, I had a block of at least 10 games against 1 opponent, and in those 10 games I used a Quake to flip the location of Warrior Falls, and win the game, twice. These Quakes were pretty big, too, as also was a Victoria Hand/Moonstone deck. One time I had a massive proxima (from carrier) jump into falls, based on a 2 turn set up where I used their cards to destroy mine, and give me a clean entry point for Proxima on 6. The second time was a lot more straight forward, and just got my Collector to destroy their stuff on 6. I'd say on ladder, helicarrier/Victoria version might be the worst one, but things change once you're into more than a couple of games against the same guy.
The powercreap is not needing a nerf because because the every new card is way more powerful. The thing about powercreep is that just more old cards become irrelevant.
not true. A lot of older cards become overpowered because of the new support. Daken became a very string card with Bullseye. Human Torvh became a very strong card wtih Madamae Web. Skaar became good with Surtur. The entire movr archetype became better with Scream. Obviously a couple card age worse than others, but new support or a little buff can put them back on track.
I have played so many other card games and I think that because Snap releases cards weekly which causes regular meta shifts it makes people feel like things should be nerfed at the same speed when in reality the balance of the game seems to be very healthy with all the new cards and how they end up shaping out their respective archetypes. I personally don't think anything is definitively "too" strong in the current metagame and think the 2025 meta has quite a bit variety as opposed to how I felt things were when I first started the game
Galactus in Arishem is the best Galactus deck. It’s hilarious how often it works. It’s like a second Legion. I posted earlier about my hellacious losing streak. Started a new win streak and like 4 of the 10 games have been Galactus wins.
Last week I got up to 2200 with Arishem Doom 2099 and was cruising. Suddenly in the last 24 hours I’m like 5 and 20 and dropped to rank 5000. It’s been really ridiculous. Just losing every 50/50
I think there are more multi-synergy cards which tend to open up space in deckbuilding, which causes more options and refinement. For example, Victoria Hand is Hand-Generation/Ongoing, Bullseye is Discard/Afflict/Activate, Iron Patriot is Hand-Generation/Guardians-location-thing, Ares is 10 Power/On Reveal, Penni P. is Merge/Move/Ramp... etc
That is an interesting way to look at the the compensation (progression vs cosmetics), I would argue that the difference in progression should actually be smaller if you were looking to be balanced
The americans also get all the conquest stuff. So there is more progression in terms of conquest medals. But yeah, free stuff for everyone feels good but to battle the bad feeling that being locked out of a game where you spent money you do need to overcompensate
It's great that Lamby came back! But one thing i wondered some days ago: Where's Brendan? As in, Brendan Patrick from the other podcast. Did he quit Snap altogether or is he still fixing his setup after moving and 4 banging in the keys?😅
Just a friendly suggestion maybe you should make distinguishable thumbnails for 8 cubes so people can differentiate between your regular videos and this. I enjoy watching both 8cubes and snapchat.
I think this month has a lot of splashable starring role cards so there's some power creep there. Most of next month is supporting characters so I don't think it will feel as wild as this month has
They could have only give the US clients the difference of stuff for compensation. But they gave ALL players something, and the "base" package is, i think, an appology for the mediocre season drop and the other disapointments in bevore, too.
I think the fact that Ares is an on reveal card can open him up to a wong/odin deck; and if you add in black panther, symbiote spiderman, arnim zola and/or task master., it could get hairy. I plan to cook with this card. I wanna see if he'll fit in a Sauron deck, with the usual suspects. I don't really see how it's a dangerous buy, with the fact that practically everyone is about to get the resource pile that could get you the card. But when was the last time second dinner released a card and didn't circle back to buff or nerf, or both, to make it as balanced as they think it can be? They don't really put out bad cards anymore. Even the free cards get played more than 80% of the early cards. Just saying.
The people complaining about the compensation being unfair are giving me the same vibes as the people who complain that welfare recipients get too much stuff.
If you don't believe in power creep, name like... three meta decks that don't include a card at least as old as the latest Spidey season, if not Asgardian.
but I feel like it would be an interesting video for km to go through the different cost slots and try to place new floors like obviously the floor value of a 4 cost isn't six what is the average value you can expect from a card taking into consideration other factories like deck building cost possible discounts exe so like if he based the average 4 cost of ares you would say its a 4\6 base but it can be a 4\12 but the unreliable nature of the card requires you to play it specifically in decks with lots of power so I would place its average power at. 4/10
This has been such a crazy good month for new releases. I guess Bullseye is the worst card and still like B+. I guess Ares will also end up in this good but niche spot.
Of course Discard is a combo deck! They all are! The entire archetype is combo-based play. Go put just Blade in a random deck and see how well it works. Go add Morbius into a deck without specific COMBINATIONS of discard activators. Discard is a combo archetype.
As a non frigga owner (just really not into a card that makes such a transparent play, I just retreat when I see that 🤷♂️ ), curious if owning bullseye is still worth it in that case.
Sup! Like they said with Bullseye, it's a combo deck with set up cards. With my short experience owning Bullseye it feels ok 🤔 in peak draws you can end with 30 power in each lane with prio. You do need Miek and Daken tho. Frigga could be replaced with some tech like Red guardian, cosmo or cheap 'location control' like Scarlet Witch... yes I'm one of those enjoyers lol
@ Gotcha; interesting frigga subs; though unclear how different that list would perform compared to frigga version (though I’m surprised it has any cube equity, seems the math is so transparent people often have a chance to retreat for 1 cube once frigga gets thrown, hence my lack of enthusiasm for her, being curious about bullseye aside).
@spincut13 ngl I don't do the math against a bullseye deck. You just have to keep track of swarms if they discarded any, not have prio or have less things on the board 🤣 the mirror is a battle of losing prio too 😩
Top 600 on ladder advice, I think you can replace Frigga with Nico Minoru. She can give Daken +2, copy a card, be a 1/4 is not that bad and sometimes you can turn a swarm into a demon, destroy the muramasa shard and change locations. Only problem is conflicting a bit with Colleen Wing.
i think he is a real deal, if Eson came out, he is going to be the best 6 power card for him Actually, even EU player are not completely unaffected, i am super worried, that my favorite card game is going to die😂 That said, i am not complaining

(2 cost) Beast's discount used to apply to affected cards for the rest of the game, not just a turn!
