I’m 33, a Star Wars fan ever since the first time seeing it in the 90s as a kid.
Now that I am an adult and have expendable income…Disney clearly doesn’t want my money. A life long fan

I'm no longer into Star Wars. But the original George Lucas vision and Extended Universe before Disney will always be in my heart.
I’ve actually been wondering this lately, honestly seems like insiders opened heavy short positions after Endgame left theatres.

Everything in Disney Star Wars looks so…. Cheap. The actors are cheap B tier actors. The sets looked more realistic in 1977 than 2023. Everything looks plastic, sanitized and fake as all get out Etc etc.

Ooof I felt George's words so much. When we sold the family farm, a business that had been in our family for generations, that was my exact feelings. You have to cut every aspect of that part of your life out, any further involvement is just pain. I had to help dismantle our calf hutches, and it literally felt like I was dismantling my dreams. Those movies were his family, my cows were my family. And we had to sell. It broke me for a long time.
A family home is precisely what is missing from modern Western society, and we get shown the consequences repeatedly with each passing day.
He did not had too sell it, Lucas was greedy and wanted money, i blame him partially as well for what Disney is doing to Star Wars.
But did HE have to sell? Or did he just want the almighty dollar?

I was just shaking my head when Ahsoka's ship was hit several times... and the plot armor was so thick that it broke it all.
Ashoka is the first Star Wars product that I just gave up on. I think most die hard fans that grew up on the original from 1977 always hold hope that the next Star Wars will be the one that restores the brand to fantasy and wonder. It happened in the early Mandolorian and with Andor for me… but I think they finally broke me. They are just killing the canon. Please just let a fan write it moving forward.
As a fan - I watch the horrible last jedi - I watched the force awakens. Still a fan - Nerdotic and the moron Parade here are not fans.
Imagine owning and operating a store and refusing service to 90% of your customer base. That's essentially what has happened, not just with Disney, to all of Hollywood.

I'll never forget my mum surprizing me after school to take me and my little brother to see star wars in 1977, it was awesome. I'm 54 now and still get the same feelings from watching the originals, thank you disney for destroying my dreams of thinking star wars could keep the dream alive, absolutely despicably shameful.
Buffer Effect: the MASSIVE resources they had shielded them from consequences for so long that they stop believing consequences even existed for them. But the time the resources that created a buffer get depleted finally arrived and now all the consequences they held in place are coming at once for them.
The consequences are permanent. Any actor, any writer, any director, any producer, ANYONE from this era is involved with a project, it’s a no from me.

How do you have two of the most financially successful franchises in history (Star Wars, MCU) and you fumble the ball this hard? It's actually shocking how completely they have destroyed both of these franchises. The real problem is Disney's catalog isn't big enough to justify a long-term subscription, even if they were putting out a superior product (which they aren't). At best Disney should be a tab on a larger streaming platform like Max or Netflix.

They weren't even bad. Just a few scenes which they should have reworked, such as the Vader noooo scene which was an obvious parallel to the Luke nooo scene at Bespin but turned out too corny
The fact that the fans turned on him for those films makes me glad they are learning the hard way to appreciate everything more.
This is a direct result of toxic fans thinking they knew better. He is to blame for giving in onto the dark side and acting on his emotions but it shows the moment everyone fuck-up.
Lucas wasn't nearly as smart or creative as we pretend, I remember before the Disney buy out the fans were fighting Lucas to stop bastardizing his own movies with CGI bs and retconed scenes... but even he was infinitely better then Kathleen Kennedy.

@bren42069 The lack of any charisma in the characters was the main issue. There was just nobody to love and that was the essence of the originals. Anakin should have been the lovable rogue so when he inevitably turned we should have been heart broken. Instead he was a petulant prick and no one really cared. You can argue that Jar Jar was aweful and the missed trick by not including a Vadar/Emperor Jedi hunt scene but it's the lack of lovable characters that ultimately let it down.

The truth is, that the "Force is Female" shirt, had NOTHING to do with Star Wars. It was part of a Nike campaign for the celebration of the "Air Force One" shoe line and that they (and a couple of other companies) where celebrating woman who came at the top at their profession.

I have been married to my wife for over 32 years and have been a fan of Star Wars since 1977 (I was 15 back then) and yet last night we rewatched the 1990's BBC production of Pride and Prejudice and it was great fun!

Watching and listening to the dialogue with the 3 main women characters in this series is like watching an episode of the “L word”. K. Kennedy does it again.

I think it is picture recognition - if they have a match, they know what you are watching and can measure the time by comparing the last pic you had before shutdown.
Yeah, I sort of want to help influence what gets made by being counted, but not by bringing a robospy into my house.

It's totally fine for Companies to find ways and use tools to measure their products' success, relevance and to assess the public's reception & opinion, and there are tons of (traditional) ways to get this done.
But infringing on the Privacy of the Customers, the Population at large, most definitely using the infos (metadata) they glean this way to profit even further from their products, only this way, it's by gathering metadata (media/show/content preferences of an individual or a household) and certainly cross-referencing it with/adding it to the Metaprofiles the GAFA build on us, probably selling this personal metadata...
The way Portable Technology is now used by Corps with "Bad" Intentions to continuously Spy on us, listening to everything we say, every website we visit, every single Google Search we make, what we watch on YT, all the infos that is gleaned through the Social Media Apps, scrutinizing all we type, using our Phone's GPS (even when turned off, your location is well known through triangulation of your Cellphone's connection to the Network as the signal/data it sends to stay signed in (to receive Calls for example) bounces off off the many Transmitter/Amplification Towers around you... And so much more that Phones do to spy on you, with every info they learn getting added to your Metaprofile so that Corps can better target, personalize their Ads...
All this Data, that includes your Health status & issues, the meds you take, etc., where you go, what you believe in, your Political Affiliations or Preferences, basically everything about you...
This Data is out there somewhere, certainly in Clouds & Data Centers, and can be used against us SO EASILY, with dramatic consequences! Just take a look at Ch¡.N@'s use of Facial Recognition AI's combined with all the information one gives to the Government (including Healthcare System) over the course of their life, WITH all the Metadata they collect on you, paying particular attention to all your online statements, AND everything that is easily learned (on top of all that!) about you through Videosurveillance from the omnipresent Cameras in Cities, where there are pretty much no dead angles left and the AI constantly Tracks you through advanced Facial Recognition...
It's SO FREAKING SCARY!
And while we might feel safe from this kind of Dystopian Nightmare, MAINLY being Spied on for Commercial Purposes (except if Law Enforcement/NSA gets interested in you, then you have no secrets), THE MERE FACT THAT the Capacities of the Tech in our environment, especially Wearable Tech like your Cell, keep augmenting & thus able to gather more and more info about you, constitutes a growing potential threat.
The World is changing rapidly, including ideologically, and it would take very little to eventually find ourselves in the same situation (or worse, as means to spy & control keep expanding) as those living in Ch¡N@. Only it would be more gradual so that people would mind a bit bit do nothing about it because they have no control over something that seems so benign, making them give up their Privacy and Freedom tiny pieces at a time in the name of better Security, so that by the time a Western Government would actually implement a radical Dystopian System, it would be far too late to do anything, and most people would even be fine with it!
All this to say that this Picture Recognition on your Cable to monitor what you watch, how long, like, etc., IS GOING A BIG STEP TOO FAR!

You know what happens when a product has expectations and the people making the product purposefully subvert them (not because failure but because of intention)? All the fans with expectations stop buying the product.
One good way to subvert expectations is when a band known for playing one genre or in a particular style, will shift to other sounds, maybe even entire genres. But the difference there is, most of these bands don't make their newer material as a "Feck you" to the old fans, at least not overtly.

why is anyone suprised at the low view and rating count? the star wars community made it clear after book of boba fett that we were no longer staying subscribed to Disney...if a show shows potential...we would waot for it to fully release, dive in for 1 month and cancel the subscription as soon as we finished binging the what 7 to 9 episodes... no reason in paying Disney 2 to 3 months for content they are slowly letting out... that was echoed even further with season 3 of mando.

I always had reservations about Disney's acquisition of Star Wars. The problem I see with many of the movies Disney has released is their emphasis on promoting a gender narrative rather than focusing on the story itself. If they were to prioritize character development, they might achieve better results. Unfortunately, at this point, I've lost hope that things will improve under this management.

That'd be amusing but their baseline demands guarantee an increase in pay. They basically want both greater guaranteed pay and a bigger cut of the residuals combined with a lower risk load that the product needs to succeed. Even if you cut out or cut down the residuals the average writer will still make more than they did before.
