this game changed my life, i played it as a kid and it had such a big impact that i became concept artist!
Wow man. Im studying 3D modeling, remember the time when I played the Dune 2000 game on PS1 when I was a kid .... The only same hardcore gameplay driven value without DLC and micro transactions can be seen in Darkest Dungeon and those types of games. We lost the Long War man, we lost it all ....

Really the only things that seem dated is the resolution options and physical disc DRM, and both were fixed with fan patches long ago. Gruntmods Dune 2000 in hd does not feel like playing a 20 year old game. It looks good, runs on modern systems without issues. 10/10 RTS in 2023.

@@josepoika5388 .. Have you been looking into Satanism ? What about if everything has a God/Kami like in Shintoism ? You ever heard or read the wise words of Buddhisme and Daoism ? A lot of things has come out of India, I believe Hinduisme is the first and oldest religion... why is this not the truth ? One God ...? Why not more Gods ? No one can or has prooven God(s) exist. the golden days of Westwood studios, before EA took em over and fucked the whole Dune and C&C franchise up. Looking back at this you can really see that Westwood were studio that really cared about their games. The music was amazing, the missions were challenging but fun and it was an epic (revolutionary almost) game for it's time. This is probably one of my top 10 favourite games...ever :) thanks for this little nostalgia trip you provided
Honestly the only terrible C&C game EA put out was C&C 4. Generals/Zero Hour, C&C 3/Kane's Wrath and RA3 are all good games.
With all honesty, this game actually wasn't made by Westwood, it was outsourced to Intelligent games, Westwood was only supervising. So even though it's a bit infuriating to say, Westwood actually didn't care all that much. Truth to be told, Dune 2000 has IMO smoother and more polished gameplay, than the C&C titles that were homemade by Westwood.

They did do a copy and paste sort of job on these games, but that was okay for the time!
Better than many studioes now tbh. They just make boring simple paste B.S., I use the Civ games as a direct example of this.

The only thing i remember fully about this game from 20 years ago 😅😅
I used to send an engineer to capture enemy buildings with a concrete slab on hold at .1% from completion. as soon as the engineer captured a building I would lay the concrete down before the captured building was destoryed. Then I was able to build anything on their base so long as it was near the concrete I layed down (lay more concrete to spread out).
Lastly, I would build a Baracks to 99% completion and put it on hold and train an engineer to 99% then put him on hold too. I would then finish the Baracks on the enemy's base with the entrance next to a building I was going to capture, make the baracks the primary building, finish training the engineer, and capture the nearest building. The engineer never got harmed cause the baracks was the first traget. Sell the captured building and repeat till the base was gone.
John Paul Hohenshilt if you capture cheap buildings like wind trap or light factory, you'll lose money... Engineers are expensive... But i think, when you reach that stage.. Money is not a problem anymore..😎
Probably won't work in multiplayer
You should still be able to take advantage by building defensive buildings with your first part tho
That way you can quickly gain more map control, which is essential for good harvesting
Keeping engineer from full completion I get, but why would you pause the completion of the concrete slab and barracks?
@@Toneai2007 Main point of his strategy, he has slab, barracks and engineer ready so as soon as he captures one enemy building he places slab, barracks and makes new engineer in seconds so a new engineer can capture another building quickly. Risky/ pricy and not that effective strategy if you can`t defend own base and would never work in multiplayer as human player is not stupid and would occupy concreet slabs build by oponent.
@@z00mbi3s Yes, I get the point of the strategy, what I was wondering was not letting the "building fiinish" and only finishing it after engineer grabs a building, you can have any building finished and it would be waiting in construction tab to be placed. I know the tactic, have fooled computer with it many a times, just the way he put it is bit inefficient.

Many people say that starcraft 1 had better graphics, I disagree. The 2 games came out in the same year.
radim22 It's a tough call for me. This game's graphics are definitely very polished, and if you notice the vehicles turn around very smoothly - that's because there are a lot of turning animation frames, probably 16. And the graphics still look very tidy and crisp today. Graphically, this could very well be mistaken for a mobile title coming out today.

I used to played this game so much as a kid. Tbh I kind of cheated most missions by sending a horde of engineers to enemy bases and taking over just one building. Then I placed concrete so I could place buildings there and spammed baracks and engineers to take over other buildings xD
This game was the first game I played. I started playing this game when I was 3 yrs old. Had so much fun playing this with my uncle. This game has a atmosphere that others don't. Awesome soundtrack, challenging missions, nostalgic environment and last but not least its story behind. When I hear this game's music, it makes me go back a decade. My all time favorite.

This is the hardest mission of all, make one wrong decision and you'll lose.
Not only that, you also gotta get a little lucky, if you are playing on full speed.
@Artuurs Z. Exactly my point. Actually I tried this again at full speed and I got bored playing on because of the luck factor. I tried so many times with varying success. Luck factor arises because of your skill at micromanaging at that speed.
It was so fcuking easy when i played it slow last time but it did need some strategic placing on troops which was fun to plan
Yeah I struggled with this particular mission for a long time before I beat it.

Despite probably being 10 years since I played this game, I can still remember the what the various buildings do and how to play the game. This is my number one childhood game , happy times :)

@Count Cobalt Hmm, that doesn't sound correct either. As far as i can remember, in books Atreides used RED EAGLE as their symbol, while Harkonnen used BLUE griffon. Harkonnens got ram as their symbol due to a mistake in Dune Encyclopedia. Ordos too had theyr symbol changed. In DE they had crossed bones as their symbol, but later got snake, which belonged to another house. But while Harkonnen's ram was a mistake, Ordos' snake was deliberate choice made by developers.
I think the developer's just wanted to use iconic colours of bad guy and good guy, as in the books, Atreides were the hero's and Harkonnen were the villains.
@@JohnDoe-lb2hp I read somewhere that the Harkonnen might have their origins around Finland on (in the Dune universe) ancient Earth and that "Härkä" in finnish means "bull", and that's why they got a bull or ram as their symbol. The name "Harkonnen" alone sounds very finnish.

@UTCyborg Hey man, glad you like the video, of course it could have always been better, depends on how many attempts you give it. I have tried like 50 attempts beating this mission without turrets, but no luck. So only in this mission I use them, you can see I dont use turrets or walls normally so i suck at placing them :) The worm actually ate 3 harvesters (after eating 3 units he disappears), leaving me with only 1 left. Usually when everything works out perfect it is like 1 game out of 10.
I was (still am) totally addicted to this game. (some periods of 2 weeks non stop playing: just sleep, eat, piss and playing).

I was 8 or 9 when i was playing this game. When i was in school all i was thinking is about this game.
I did that when I was 15. I remember one time I was awake 40 hours in row mostly playing Dune.
I would give anything to travel back into that time and play Dune with same feeling i had there...

Is there any difference between the 3 houses except their unique units like devestator and sonic tank and the airstrike and so on? Cause it seems like ordos unique unit is pretty bad compared to the other houses. No faster harvesting or something?

btw, how good are the turrets against vehicles, compared to rocketturrets vs vehicles? I cant remember, but the feeling says its rocketturrets are preferable .. :P

2. I have a big screen on DUNE 2000 while other out or full screen or whatever, how do I play with full screen? Can you do that? I have tried everything to change the screen resolution, the PC settings or compatibility.

NOSTALGIA ALERT! O_O I used to play this game along time ago and its awesome.
This was imo the hardest mission of them all. Even with a very similar strategy to this, I struggled against the waves and waves of enemies.
I had this game when I was younger and it was great. I wish I could find it again.

Awesome thanks. "Worm attacks" still gives me the creeps. I always played Atreides and i always hated the Harkonnen missilies destroying half my base. Or was that on Dune 2? And i remember the massive nuclear Harkonnen tanks in Dune 2.

Well i discover Dune 2000 in a friend psx and back in days i don't had a pc so... But i'm glad i discover it.
Hardest mission in the game by far imo. Version 2 is a cakewalk by comparison. I only learned this decades later. As a kid, I thought the Harkonnen campaign was the easiest one. But had I clicked this instead, I might not have finished the game as Harkonnen back then.

How to build multiple tanks at same time? Like 3 tanks from three different HighTechs?
@Reinc01 Fastest production is 3 factories, it applies to heavy and light factory and barracks. No idea about Emperor though.
One of the things i liked about C&C and DUNE2000. Is that you could limit the techlevel in skirmish mode. When you just wanted to play against very hard AI level for 2/3 hours and just trolling them for fun. And not having to worry about those annoying nucular missiles or Ioncannon strikes.

You guys are both right, one of you is talking about Dune 2, the other about Dune 2000. The original comment stating this is a rip off of RA is also right in a way, because what he means is that the infantry units WW used in Dune 2000 are the same they used in RA, and those were not used for Dune 2. This was also subject to criticism in Dune 2k reviews as WW did not put much effort into this remake, but it's still my most favorite game.
@BeFairToYourself I was thinking about playing it on Hard as well. Nothing is recorded at the moment, but I might do it in the near future. If you want to see that mission on easy though then you can find it in my video list.

1. I DUNE 2000 for PC elite soldiers but I have not: (Ce type, the special forces soldier Harkonnen and those who throw bombs based birds, and finally, the jeep invisible the Ordos do not have it, I tried to finish the story but did not go out and see that on RUclips, type in you come out and give them to you at the beginning of the battle. Could you help me please?

radim22 she mean that you move your units without selecting them ! the cursor is not green
Also I would wall the bottom section first as yeah those are false bottlenecks. The Atreides tanks are easily agile enough to go through it, create decoy for AIs as their siege units stay untouched to shoot at your command center.
in front of the part you first turreted are the actual safe zone for that Atreides trampling issue I mentioned before. So usually I just put my infantries there. The only issue is siege units but well it's easier to micro the infantry + rocket turrets right on the open zone.
You have a backdoor via the spice hole at the bottom, so you can rotate your units in and out from there, circling your base, and striking every force that comes to attack you with Harkonnen's superior tanks.
and oh yeah: leave at least 1 rocket turret on the bottom section, if you decide to wall them. target distraction.
man i still remember this on my playstation when i was a kid and those worms always ate my harvesters are whatever they are xD

I played soo much of this game when I was younger.. half of it mixed in with C&C, and forgot about this title.
