Jeff Loomis on the SYNERGY PEAVEY 6505 Module

- The Peavey 6505 - and its numerically named predecessors - are some of history's most recorded, gigged, and modeled high-gain amp heads. Though their dual channels and articulate gain were designed for a game-changing guitarist out of 1970s Pasadena, they soon became favorites of extreme metal guitarists worldwide. Famed metal producers and engineers like Andy Sneap and Colin Richardson often discuss how the amp sits perfectly in a mix. And Guitar Player Magazine said its use on Machine Head's Burn My Eyes"...defined a generation of guitar tone". Today, the Peavey 6505 continues its reign as a go-to live and studio high-gain guitar amplifier.
The Synergy engineering team spent over two years working with Peavey to perfectly capture the 6505’s tone, feel, and response. This no compromise collaboration resulted in an all-tube preamp module that genuinely replicates and streamlines everything that makes the 6505 so popular. Whether you're after the classic sounds that the amplifier was designed for or the modern high-gain it's come to define, the Peavey 6505 module is where you'll find it. PEAVEY 6505 Preamp Module Features:
Jeff Loomis has an unsurpassed genius level of guitar playing.
He goooooooood!
Definately this guy has stamina and wisdom. All inspiring to the signature of modern/progressive metal sound, never breaks past the milestone of doom.
Doesn't miss a note when playing brutal pounding thrash for three hours straight.
Likely practices most in his sleep.
Not only that he understands great sound. He understands electronics and mixes very well. As a guitar player there's more than just playing.
Sounds great without a doubt, but I think the ultimate Loomis tone was the 'Dead Heart in a Dead World' dual rectifier tone. The harmonics, grit and focus was menacing.
everyone buy a burns case so I can buy one of these modules
His emg studio video (engl amp in their studio) from like 2010(IISSSHHH) Was amazing, better than what’s in this video
@@snapascrew He was playing a 7 string in that video. Also, production techniques differ.
That is one awesome song. ❤
nah, his tone on DNB and Politics was the best, just crushing. Perfect fit for the music on these records. Dead Heart was good, very good but i always loved his 6 string albums and tones way more
well this sounds absolutely crushing haha
everyone buy a burns case so I can buy one of these modules
Loomis has always had great tone in his recordings.
The finish on that guitar is sick.
Can we have the full track? It's amazing, I love every single riff / lick / solo Loomis does.
Peavey has always been innovative. Had 3 Peavey amps and had no complaints. Good to see that they have created this product. Sounds amazing.
sounds awesome and congrats Jeff! great dude and silly amazing guitar player!
Sounds great. I would love to see an ADA MP-1 Synergy module.
yeah that would be killer, I wish ADP actually returned.
And an included mod switch to activate recto and 3 TubeMod (3TM).
This is awesome! Jeff is incredible. So inspiring
so they summoned Jeff interdimensional guitar beast Loomis!!! cool!
Outstanding sounds, with remarkable chops...!!!
not my bag of hammers, but it is HEAVY...good clarity at higher gain, nice job synergy.
I like it. I was hoping for more clean modules (Matchless, Tone King, Princeton, Super Reverb, Magnatone, SSS, etc) but this 6505 module will at least scratch that EVH itch. Great work!
Hells yes
SSS would be an instant buy for me
They already have modules for Fender Bassman, Fender Tweed Deluxe, Dumble, and Morgan AC amps which all get amazing clean tones.
@@randygomez9595 Tone King would be so easy for them, as they are the same company
@@idiotburns oh, I didn't know that 🤔
Jeff your rhythms are just out of the ballpark brother💯🎆. After getting a Helix i sold all my amps but I might need a Synergy just because
Just ordered mine!!!
Sad, to say I got my module in today and it didn't work. Tried it in three different syn units (Syn1 and Syn2). Have to return it tomorrow. :(
Synergy picked the right guy to demo this.
the 6505 is bad ass i love mine.pretty much a metal amp,so i go to my mesa for other stuff.
this is beautiful, one step closer to running ampless with a rack setup. now bring on the fender cleans!
specially Twin Reverb.
I wouldn’t say that’s running ampless at all
Loomis 4-Ever! Genius. God Level Riffs. Sassy. Hair-tips & Sweat. The Wall of The Singularity. Jeff Loomis.
Sounds amazing 👏 😊
stop using full mix doube trakced demos, i wanna hear how it sounds in the room through one guitar...
You need more practice 😂😂😂
But mix is what ultimately matters the final product
Is it just me or does it look like a different set of pickups than the Signature Loomis Blackouts? Also the bindings look yellowed?
I love your work with nevermore
The second riff 😮 holy moly
The Synergy logo was misaligned and my OCD was through the roof. His playing was insane, as usual.
Jeff with new SD pickups?!
Dude
@@idiotburns Right?
hey jeff what pickups are in the kelly? i tried to use different pickups in mine but they didnt fit in the PU cavity
gosh, I miss Nevermore. Jeff is amazing!
Why don't they mention Mesa Boogie? Although it's shown many times in the clip.
Is he using different pickups now?
They look different than his signature Duncan sets
Hilarious... my eyes perked up at the very end when I saw that old 70's monster receiver. Pioneer sx-1280 maybe?
The Randall RM100KH Kirk Hammett signature amp has modules in it like this and it's an awesome head.
Kinda wild my favorite guitar players Brandon Ellis and you both use Jackson Kelly's and 6505s or 5150s I just fixed my 6505+ head and also just got a Jackson Kelly I did not plan on having ether peice of gear just happened that way and realized that's what you guys are runnings that's sick.
wake up babe, new Jeff Loomis video
For anyone that doesn't know Seymour Duncan made an amp with this modular system decades ago.
So did randall, so did egnater. Only synergy got it right w dual channels per module and actual licenses from friedman soldano diezel and now peavey
@@tonedover Just throwing a little history out there, wasn't making a comparison. They're not really the same design, per se. Just the concept of modularity.
Humanity do not deserve Jeff Loomis. The ultimate guitar God.
Loomis, Romeo, Petrucci, Loureiro. ( The big 4 )
Don't forget the goddesses: Nita Strauss, Courtney Cox, Miyako and Midori, Saki and Hazuki, Haruka Noma, Li-Sa-X, Yuki D-Drive!
@@TheCyberMantis no. none of these can lick Loomis' boots.
leave.
@@Daphie_the_Duck lol. Agreed.... Literally the only person I MIGHT put in Loomis' class is Dave Davidson.
@@Daphie_the_Duck Get off his sack. Loomis don't swing that way.
Jeff is raw as fuck
great Jeff Loomis ,excellent guitarist of Arch Enemy, 😍🤩💋💞🤘👊🎸🎸🎸🎼🎵
Honestly, the lack of a 5150/6505 module has been the only thing keeping me from buying the 2 slot rack unit...
You’re in luck I’m selling a Syn 2 600 shipping included US
@@JimsMusicJourney if you still have it in a week or 2 I would love to buy it. I can't afford some of these amps essentially and need a good way to get a good representation of them! Synergy is cool
Who did sumpin' like this in the mid 2000's? Krank? I can't remember.
Really cool, though. Love this kinda shit! 🤘
Randall, no?
@@azharkhan8796 That's what it was!
Seymour Duncan did it a long time ago.
00:54 holy shit, does that riff sound good.
OK great but I thought the whole original point of this is to be rackmount. Anyways can you please release solid state modules like the randalls, marshal valvestate stuff and others like sansamp?
What song is that?
If Peavey isn't going to ever ship out new 6505 amps then at least synergy will.
And I think getting this and a whole synergy rig is cheaper than the new 6505 heads too.
The comedy really writes itself.
So he uses passives pickups now ?
What song is playing?
5150 and 6505 best metal amps ever 🤘
Can’t tell if it’s this mix but it sounds pretty dry and flat
What songs r those they're killer
That Kelly is unreal
I think this is the first time I've seen Jeff play a 6-string
He’s always played six strings, everything before Dead Heart and all his stuff with Arch Enemy was done on 6’s.
Hell Yeah!
i see hes got some new pickups thjere
I don't personally think he's getting anything here he couldn't get out of the Vitriol(invective) model in the Helix itself but whatever inspires the artist is always best. No problem having more tools and toys for different tastes.
Randall did this years ago
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌🏻
What that is pickups ?? 🥵🤟
The only reason I didn't go Synergy was because this was missing. 😂
I might have to now though.
I do with the head had at least 3 if not 4 slots though... Then it would be almost literally stupid not to go Synergy.
Unless you have a kemper...
@@SHREDTILLDEAD I have a Kemper.
I don’t know why he thinks he needs to have a brutal tone with Arch Enema. His tone on Dead Heart In A Dead World is way more brutal than this. And just overall sounds better.
Sounds like an Annihilator riff.
Wait a second. the 6505 have like 6 preamp stages. 2 tubes are not enough
There are additional tubes in the head unit itself. Not all of the tubes in an amp create the gain.
@@mrhyde2250 True, however an actual 5150/6505 has 5 preamp tubes (so 5 actual gain stages) and 4 power amp tubes (that's how you get all the watts). So yeah, gain stages are missing here. Still, sounds good.
@@EvilDragon666 oh okay, so you think every tube is a gain stage.
@@EvilDragon666 That's not how 12AX7's work. Each 12AX7 has two independent triodes that can be used as separate gain stages or as an effects loop send and return. Five gain stages can fit in 2 and half 12AX7's,
@@Eliphas_Elric I genuinely was not aware of that, so thanks for correcting me!
❤
🤘💪⚡️
This Man Is A Genius 🎸🎸🎸!!!
I can't help but think Jeff Loomis is wasting his talents in Arc Enemy. It's like buying a Ferrari and driving it like a Zastava......I miss his brutal playing as much as I miss his superb riffing and excellent compositions with Nevermore...And NO, I don't want a reincarnation of Nevermore. I just want a band where Jeff is doing his thing, leading the trend. Conquering Dystopia with clean magical vocals...like get Michael Kiske :)
Todo genial. Pero Jeff te hace sonar bien cualquier cosa jaja
It's like NEW Golf Club Driver Technology, New shit but no lower golf scores. The woods are full of LONG drivers! LMAO! Peavey went Gyna! Fuck'em!
Microphone set 🎶 I’m singing out of Samson wireless Double Bass tech you dam striaght I am four Tom six Tom stradagey 😊
Who else thinks that Jeff Loomis needs to join A WAY BETTER BAND THAN ARCH ENEMY????
Name a better band ? Their shit without angela is trash but they’re still bad ass
@@ramon2008 I loved Angela. SHe was a beast. Jeff would rule with Megadeth. This is silly but he'd be interesting in Revocation!
@@TIGERGUTS Jeff Loomis in Revocation would be the coolest thing ever
@@Richpena1598 totally!! It'd be so good!
Damn that sounds good 👏 Jeff is ❤️❤️
Synergy logo on amp is super crooked
Now, Peavey and Synergy need to stop fucking around and build a Peavey JSX (XXX 2) module. And have a toggle switch to alter the tone between EL34's and 6L6's which the JSX could operate on in the power amp section.
Logo is kinda tilted.
jeff loomis advertising any amp should honestly be illegal.
My band Killer Screams established since 1987 I’ve been writing music and creating record formats massively hire you has project record would be awesome I’ve reviewed you since I talk with you at Ozzfest. You’ll be paid format way see ya soon
That guitar 😢
Ugh can someone get this guy some good gear for once in his career? One of my favorite guitar players of all time and the best he ever sounded was on DHDW. I’m sorry but this is not good enough for this man. Some silly “everything amp” with modules? At this point I’d rather see him play more with his plugin from Toneforge. Those were some sick tones. Also I thought he said he was working on a Kemper Profile? Are we not going to see that now? And don’t get me started about the over hype with his “overdrive” pedal. This guy needs a real amp deal. Did he ever have an endorsement by Peavey? Wasn’t it a triple XXX on DHDW? I mean I know he likes different gear, hell we all do. I also know that the man has to take what he can get. Dude’s gotta make money just like the rest of us. I don’t know it’s just every time I see this guy playing with something new it’s, like, this barely there, tone. Now he does have an absolutely sick Sig Jackson 7 string. I would sell my soul for that guitar in a heartbeat. He just needs that kind of love with an Amp and cab now! Alright I’m done. Someone’s gonna rip into me for sure. Just don’t be a dick imma go look up his past endorsements now 😂
Sorry, but his talent is wasted in Arch Enemy, they don't use his riffs and solos nearly enough
He could plug himself into an empty pepsi can and sound like a demi god. Still, I like the sound of the module.
5150 the best
Tell us you are reading a script without telling us you are reading a script.
Not really fair, jeff could plug into a watermelon and make it sound good
Tell me you're reading a script without telling me you're reading a script. Great product though
And Mustaine still didn't hire you
Jeff is a God on the guitar, but he ain't Kiko. Respect to both, but Dave always chooses wisely.
I hope he leaves Arch Enemy and creates his own music again.
It really makes me sad to see him playing these basic & boring stuff when I think Nevermore time.
I agree. Jeff is too good for Arch Enemy.
The man needs that gig to eat, his solo work is second to none but it doesn't pay bills sadly.
Jeff is a great player, but the rhythm tone in this video is not very good. It's too dark and dull sounding.
This is the worst acting by Jeff on video I've seen...
Kickass jam guitar skills Jeff it’s Rillie cacino. Evans hope to do a record deal project with ya dude Hispanic Italian American Latino I’m drums and vocals master degree at MIT musician I’ll be contacting you soon 😎🚁🥸🧭👍🎃♐️🎶👨🎓
NEVERMORE. No Arch Enemy, boy.
damn that riff at 2:04...
Hopefully it’s better than the 2c+ module. That thing is a turd.
Loom daddy is a monster
i ❤ the kelly
Loomis needs to form a new band with a melodic singer like Nevermore - they don’t let him write songs in Arch Enemy, it’s an insane waste of talent!
