Prob with sound here too. I don't want to be a whiner and I can still see what's going on but I like your stuff and anything you got to say; I want to hear. Thank you.
+Arley Brooks The funny thing about this video is that id so love to see him do it full speed. As im pretty sure that when he kicks out the knee when someone is balancing forward he will drop towards him which makes it completely impossible to step behind him as he suggests to do after. Its ironic how someone that claims to be a Tai Chi master has no idea how the concept of balance and movement works. Seen before in his vids that his footwork is quite poor.
+Reddust86 When someone has a rear naked choke in good he can choke you out in 5 seconds, if he knows some BJJ he will let himself drop on his back and hook his legs around him. Cant step on someones toes when they are wrapped around your waiste!
This is a good tutorial video for beginners. I have a few issues with it, however. If someone has you in a rear naked choke, there is no conceivable way you're going to break the hold that easy. Not to mention, not many people go for a rear naked without putting their hooks in or dragging their opponent to the ground. My other main issue with this video is the trapping for the strike. It's assuming that the attacker would just let you pull him down. In a real fight, step by step goes out the window.
Caleb Yan nah, my father-in-law practice Tai Chi every day, don't think it gains him any extra ability to defend anyone, but it does make him healthier.
i have one doubt,i love to fight but when ever i hit some one i stop hitting cuz my hands won't move and i feel sad that it might have hurt them and i feel fear in my heart is there any solution for this???😀
When you are in Rear Naked choke, don't turn your chin to the gap, you turn to the far side 1st. Facing the the gap is where the choke becomes most effective because it can clamp both sides of bloodflow more effectively then. My Sifu taught it like you did here and I found by going deeper into martial arts that this is mostly taught wrong. Instead move to the wrist, clamp the arm down, THEN you move to the gap.
My question is after floating lotus inner and outer and index push up and hand stand is completed what would be the next level of training been search for that answer for 37 years could you advise thanks from a humble beggar
+Gabriel Knight Well, it's what broken in to sections of him showing a slowed down version. Most people cannot keep track-nay, RUclips player doesn't allow videos of a frame rate high enough to see it properly at the normal speed. As someone who learned the normal way, I can tell he's slowing down everything for new people. (Only reason I'm here is I wanted to learn a new style)
well Jake what if you are sitting down and the person comes from the back and do the china move , the second move. how do you get out of there? or the same move but on the ground?
In a deep stance like that so close to your attacker, your lead leg is very vulnerable to a thigh kick or a front leg take down. Both are common practice so you are quite vulnerable defending like that. A more fluid stance will be more useful. Hope that helps.
Or you know, kicks you right in the fucking testicles because he has no fucking guard ability with his base so fucking wide... sure you can fucking pivot all day but you're *rooted* just like he said he was, he can't move his fucking legs fast enough to do anything with them like that, AND is leaving himself wide *literally wide* open. That's a fucking horrendous stance, and even his nameless unappreciated practice dummy knew better than to have a stance like that.

When all your techniques require a completely immobile, lethargic, non-threatening opponent, you aren't learning a martial art. You're learning poses. An opponent who is choking you is going to apply pressure and try to keep you in position. They will not stand with weak knees and idly wait for you to take them down, they're going to try to win. An opponent who is punching you isn't going to sit well out of range and telegraph, they're going to try to hit you. They're going to move unpredictably. They're going to move at full speed, and struggle against you if by chance you get a grip on the wrist. They certainly won't sit there, arm fully extended, and wait to be thrown. You are a disgrace to martial artists, and you are going to get people hurt thinking they are safe knowing how to defeat glorified practice dummies as opposed to resisting, aggressive opponents.
You are correct. People will try to hurt you, however learning these techniques in a controlled and safe environment is required to make these techniques instinctive. Most street fighter are not trained, so they will telegraph their attack. The most common "tell" of an attack coming is a step followed by a throw of a punch (or haymaker). His opponent in this video is not resisting because the teacher is teaching the technique. I do not know these two, but at my school we start with little to no resisting. Then as the student begins to learn the technique, more and more resistance is added. The student is coached through the entire process. One last thing, I am an instructor, and from an instructor point of view this is how you want to teach beginners. If you throw student into the fire and attack them like they were on the street, they will not sign up. That means no money and no job.You can be the best marital artist in the world, but if you are a jerk to your students or your training is too rough they will not join. New students won't join because, they feel like they are not capable of learning kung fu/martial arts
Even in a safe environment, if you don't at least do light sparring and show legitimate applications of your techniques, then you aren't doing anything but teaching half motivated poses. You don't know what any street fighter is trained in. Believe it or not, people do more than throw heavily telegraphed stepping haymakers. Especially not the sorts who attack people at random. Street fight videos are not only available, they're popular. See the variety yourself. A gradual teaching method is well and good, but realism and actually performing techniques at decent speed to demonstrate their proper execution is far more important if you want to show people how to defend themselves. There are plenty of teaching methods between beating a student upon their entry into the class and this act. If you're an instructor, perhaps you should consider the importance of teaching methods that actually prime people for full speed combat.
Kevin Brown trained fighters are les likely to fight on the street, because we fight on a daily bases. I don't know about other schools, but we teach taekwondo kickboxing mixed with muay thai and krav. We use kicks, punches, kness, elbows, and throws. We spar on a daily bases with padding. Sure there are some students who wants to spar without it, but we don't allow it. This is because of insurance. I have personally grew up fighting on the streets, so I know how rough it can be. I gave out beatings and I had my share of beatings. Not every student comes through the door looking to become a top fighter. Some come through to look or a new hobby, make new friends, or just for the workout. Whatever a student is looking for in martial arts that is what he or she will get out of their martial arts. Personally I was looking for new ways to whoop somebody. And guess what? I did learn new ways, but at the same time I learned self discipline and self control. Because I fight with people who know how to fight (ie capitalizing on mistakes). The urge to fight on the street has dissapeared. There is more to martial arts than fighting. If you go to a good school, then you won't feel the need to fight when you are outside the dojo/dojang. We cannot teach every hostile situation a student may encounter. We can only teach general situation, the student must adept and react quickly. Students are told to only use their martial arts if someone is trying to hurt them. If they have a knife or gun, do whatever the attacker tells you to do.
Trained fighters, and EXPERIENCED fighters are two very different things. Somebody who has grown up fighting knows more about fighting than slowly throwing haymakers. You can dole out every anti-violence cliche you can think of, but at the end of the day, if you are teaching martial arts FOR SELF DEFENSE, you need to train your students to (as you said) adapt and react quickly. Training dummy sparring partners are a good way to give people the confidence that they know how to defend themselves, without any of the skill or instinct or conditioning to back it up. Yes, there is quite a lot more to martial arts than learning how to fight (I began with capoeira, I learned to beat a drum and sing just as much as I learned to kick and evade). Likewise, the importance of actually training people to fight cannot be understated either. If people wanted solely to learn eastern philosophy, tradition, and to find themselves, they would go to temples and meditation retreats. If people wanted solely to learn to fight, they'd join sport fighting groups. There is a happy medium in which the martial and the artistic aspects of these traditions do not shadow each other, and if it isn't found, then you wind up with a mess like Jake Mace, who actually practices false teachings (look it up, he's been outed as a sham before).
Kevin Brown I have looked into Jake Mace, and now I totally agree with your original. I do not know much about kung fu, but there are a several instances where he lowered his head. That would be an easy knock out. I also noticed that there are no sparring videos. I went to his site, and there is no information about his past master/sifu. In other words his "school" has no heritage. The forms look good, but anyone can look at a kung fu/karate form online. It can be practice until the person look good doing it.
That was a cool video .. but seriously, it would have been great to appreciate your practise partner a bit more and at least thank him (just a little tipp by the way :D)

I love your channel I know karate now and I go to karate and it's awesome to have you guys on the channel you're the best better than my old RUclips now you only give me a thousand likes
I've been following your page! I've been practicing some of the Arts you teach! So, thanks. You're actually teaching me a lot of my updated combat. I've always been a fighter, street/school fights.. but, never professional.. but this knowledge that you're teaching is real technique. && Technique is what makes you better than your opponent. So, thanks again!
From your full Nelson position, you could also skip to the last step (called diagonal flying in my lineage of Kung Fu and Tai Chi) to throw the opponent off without needing to break their hold. The throw over your hips will break their grip. Not fool proof, but really, nothing is.
Hi, I miss confused about which martial art should I choose. My age is 30. I always wanted to be pro martial artist but no one guide that which martial art should I choose
+Fulca It's a slowed down version, in a real fight, you'd move much faster making the attackers window of opportunity to react far smaller. It's slower for newer people...and so anyone can see what's going on because RUclips doesn't allow a frame rate above 60fps which is far below the amount one sees in real life. (I'd estimate that humans move at a speed requiring 600 frames a second to see) (Fun fact, the human eye sees 1000 frames at max) (More fun facts, most people probably only see a 8th of that cause they don't need to see more than 30 when watching things and the 125 when walking around or playing a sport.)
Sometimes in hard and fast situations or in traumatizing situations, people see in "slowmo". Perhaps it already happened to you, mostly because your body reacts with a huge amount of adrenalin, that causes seeing like 1000 frames
the0nagers Yeah, 1000 is the highest the human eye can typically see but this is probably just an average of the typical human's maximum potential, you might see more, you might see less. Tis how Science results work, averaging.
I also want to become a good martial art fighter .My age is 18 .From where should I start my training and how much time it will take to become a good fighter.
Kung Fu & Tai Chi Center w/ Jake Mace For real he beat up some karate back belts on set who tried it on with him, and he was incredibly fast also however the movies are different to real life fighting, so how we see him in the films is not how he'd fight in the street.
2:13 I learned the same in (Japanese) jujutsu, and the way you get him on the floor is too ineffective. Put your right hand on his mouth and push towards his nose while you're turning, that way they can't resist.
Kung Fu means higher level of understanding/experience through hard work. Has as much to do with making tea, bread, painting walls or practicing martial arts, it can apply to almost anything. To say Kung Fu is martial arts, this is not correct. This is a common mistake. Actually, if you practice anything for a longer period, you will attain a certain level of expertise but never complete mastery. A life time is too short to attain any mastery, you may have attained a higher level of understanding. In the end, a small note, it is not even pronounced or written correctly, it should be Gong Fu or Gung Fu. If you have attained any higher understanding of any martial arts (not sports), you shouldn't use these words that incorrectly. As an example: A baker who has done the same job for 30 years, day in and out, has probably attained some Gong Fu in bread making.
Did you ever notice that he was saying it as "gong fu" ? It's spelled kung fu so people who aren't as knowledgeable on the subject as you can understand
A Full Nelson is neither a blood or air choke...but you have no clue about effect martial arts so why am I even explaining it? You’re going to get some unsuspecting fool injured.
for full nelson defense, hands on the forehead to prevent the neck crank is used in lots of arts. Another thing to keep in mind is you can defend early when they're trying to reach under your arms by trapping them in your arms.
wtf...... Hes your master?.... Hes a disgrace for any martial arists. (just like Kevin Brown said). He just sucks.... if you want to learn Wing Chun or other Martial Arts, it would be the best you go and learn from a real Master. Hes just the opposite of what you should learn.

+Arley Brooks The funny thing about this video is that id so love to see him do it full speed. This is a good tutorial video for beginners. I have a few issues with it, however. If someone has you in a rear naked choke, there is no conceivable way you're going to break the hold that easy. Nice escape for the full Nelson, I love it.
oooh, can you make a video of how to defend yourself from strangers attacking you using Kung Fu techniques!!!!!!!!!
+Funky Randomness MKG Yes! Click Here you might like this video we just made: ruclips.net/video/hNC5HngDTZI/видео.html
Do you really think kung fu is appropriate for real situations?
will it is provided there's a true master
Sudarshan Aravamudhan what?
will If there's a true master of kung fu u dumbass..then it will be appropriate for real situations..
I feel sorry for the same guy who gets beaten up every time :P :P :P
Ummmm..... That was a figure of speech, not really meant to be taken literally.....!!!
Vic Val Yes, to take ukemi in training for a sensei is indeed considered an honor. Don't mind the ignorant. Check for instance Japanese martial arts if you don't believe it.

Thanks for sharing! Despite all the bigmouths commenting here, this works perfectly fine...

Good fucking luck pulling this shit off in a fight.
I'm not asking disrepectfully the following question: What is your Kung Fu background? Whose tutelage were you under? Also, what rank did you achieve? I would greatly appreciate your response.
I love your channel I know karate now and I go to karate and it's awesome to have you guys on the channel you're the best better than my old RUclips now you only give me a thousand likes
prick
I've been following your page! I've been practicing some of the Arts you teach! So, thanks. You're actually teaching me a lot of my updated combat. I've always been a fighter, street/school fights.. but, never professional.. but this knowledge that you're teaching is real technique. && Technique is what makes you better than your opponent. So, thanks again!
Try to use more force and see if it really works though ;d
poor guy....
+Baron Zhu I know right xD hes just like a practice dummy
Eh look at your chanel and look at his and say the diferrence.
From your full Nelson position, you could also skip to the last step (called diagonal flying in my lineage of Kung Fu and Tai Chi) to throw the opponent off without needing to break their hold. The throw over your hips will break their grip. Not fool proof, but really, nothing is.
Hi,
I miss confused about which martial art should I choose. My age is 30. I always wanted to be pro martial artist but no one guide that which martial art should I choose
lol, the attacker is supposed to stay still??? lol
+Gamesfan34260 I LOVE FACTS, TELL ME MORE! :D
Sausage Biscuit O.O I'd love to but I'm not quite sure what to say.
JAKE MACE or FAKE MACE )))
Whatever
Damn, that poor guy is gettin toss around
+Ndub19454 Agreed i feel for the poor sod

I also want to become a good martial art fighter .My age is 18 .From where should I start my training and how much time it will take to become a good fighter.
I like the picture of you in that black kung fu uniform, the picture of you kicking your student. Where did you get that kung fu uniform from?
Could Bruce Lee Fight for Real OR would he just "turn it on" for the camera in movies?
Kung Fu & Tai Chi Center w/ Jake Mace
For real he beat up some karate back belts on set who tried it on with him, and he was incredibly fast also however the movies are different to real life fighting, so how we see him in the films is not how he'd fight in the street.
Have u ever been in a real street fight or even a real match. The answer is no!! There is no record of u having fought a real bout.
He has opened alot of tournaments and challenge lot's of fighter there's rare footage of it
2:28 -cough-
Mark Callaway hahaha
+Mark Callaway Congrats, you have a dirty mind!
the thumbnail is misleading
10/10 mad respect, nice bait
2:13 I learned the same in (Japanese) jujutsu, and the way you get him on the floor is too ineffective. Put your right hand on his mouth and push towards his nose while you're turning, that way they can't resist.
Its same I practice jukido jiui jitsu and after we break the full nelson we throw away the right arm then turn and wrist lock the left
kungfu has been something in marshal art I love.
Look at the professionals making bait! They grow up so fast.
Yeah that's a bit of clickbait.....just a smidge
I wanted to watch are fight but you give me rubbish, name your youtube stuff correct next time
First move looks like it works. Anyone tried?
I'm also a martial artist.But I learned a lot from Jake
I was expecting better comments. You let me down, RUclips!
click bait?
Thomas Nguyen I guess so.
How can this be a clickbait, nigga? it work for me
And me blacks
That's deep. 100% deep bra.
Dion Minus He is 100% correct. Google it. The word 'kung fu' has evolved into the name for Chinese martial arts, but originally this was not the case.
Mo Cat Indeed
Did you ever notice that he was saying it as "gong fu" ? It's spelled kung fu so people who aren't as knowledgeable on the subject as you can understand
Thank you for your videos
😀
A Full Nelson is neither a blood or air choke...but you have no clue about effect martial arts so why am I even explaining it? You’re going to get some unsuspecting fool injured.
leave out the knee kicking part
they'll be fine
I’m pretty sure he knows martial arts lol
se ve que al profesor le gusta que le agarren por detrás e.e

Maybe it works...against an 80 pound opponent like him..
for full nelson defense, hands on the forehead to prevent the neck crank is used in lots of arts. Another thing to keep in mind is you can defend early when they're trying to reach under your arms by trapping them in your arms.
Excellent sir, keep continue making vedio.

wtf...... Hes your master?.... Hes a disgrace for any martial arists. (just like Kevin Brown said). He just sucks.... if you want to learn Wing Chun or other Martial Arts, it would be the best you go and learn from a real Master. Hes just the opposite of what you should learn.
