I can't wait to see more of your Oxford journey! I enjoy reading books as well and sometimes I may go a bit overboard of buying books and adding it to my "to be read" pile list.
Hi Cait, I will be starting the MLA in Oxford in October. I am sooooooo excited! I really can't wait to get started. Of course your videos are wildly interesting to me. I was wondering: is there any chance you could send me the preliminary reading list you received to prepare for the program? I gather we will receive it in summer anyway, but summer seems so far away 🙂 If not, no problem. Just curious (and excited!). Good luck with the rest of your journey, looks like you're doing great! Sara
Hi Sara! That’s so exciting for you! Congratulations! We’ll probably meet in person during your first residency week. Of course I’d be happy to send you what we got. They do tend to send it out later in the summer and I’d be happy to recommend texts that were particularly helpful too - if you want to, feel free to pop me an email (in the description) and I’ll send it on to you
Hi Sara! We were on the short course on Victorian literature together and I just found you here in Cait‘s comments. :D I’m so happy for you that you got into the MLA! Have a fantastic time! Best wishes, Siv
@@xXNorwaygirlXx ,Hi, Siv! So sorry I haven't answered any sooner. Thanks for your very kind message 🙂 I am indeed very much looking forward to it. The course on Victorian Literature was an extra motivation, I must say. I really loved it. Didn't you? Bye! Sara
Hey could you share the reading list for the foundational Oxford course you got? I’m seriously considering (lawyer here with similar story and this vid could have changed my life)!
It was the Undergraduate Certificate in English Literature at Oxford, it was two years, part time and online (apart from a summer school week). Here’s the link: www.conted.ox.ac.uk/about/undergraduate-certificate-in-english-literature
Eric Hobsbawn awarded me my masters degree. I felt embarrassed as I used his book Age of Empire to get me to sleep during undergrad years. Im sure I’d be better as an adult 😂
I CANT WAIT FOR YOUR OXFORD JOURNEY!!!
Thank you ♥️
I LOVE videos like this. I always add so many books to my tbr. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so glad! Do let me know what you end up reading ☺️
I am so excited for you!!! (Also you should look up the wild history of the Kellogg cereal brand)
On it!

I think going overboard on buying books is absolutely wonderful! Thank you for your support on the video 😊

Hi Sara, I'm starting the MLA in October too - watching all Cait's videos for info, of course! It's going to be amazing!

Glad you found the video on my channel and so happy to see lawyers here 🫶🏻
@@cait_murphyhurrell also wondering - did you do any conted short courses before the foundation? considering dipping my toes
Would definitely recommend the short courses to dip your toes in - I did the Critical Reading one and the Contemporary literature short courses
@ amazing - thanks !
@@cait_murphyhurrell would you advise doing the critical reading before contemporary literature?
Which certificate did you do specifically please? Was it a short course online?

😂😂 oh dear, I’ve heard similar things from lots of others… perhaps Hobsbawn is not a priority then haha
Also- I could listen to you talk all day. Maybe your third career should be audio book recording 🤔
You’re a darling! ♥️♥️
