Midnight Scenes: The Nanny is Available Now on Steam: store.steampow...
This game does "Show, don't Tell" wonderfully. Also the sound design in this game is crispy as heck.
I miss when horror games and movies did subtle like this. A really interesting mystery, never showing too much, always making you curious about the next part of the story. Fantastic stuff here.
@@Redn2000 dark souls took that idea
I found myself glued to the screen, deeply immersed in the story. It may be the old theme of kids left to the babysitter and bad things starts to happen, but this game did it right. I do hope that they make more creepy stories like this.
Terrifying.
The last shot with the painting on the rock was absolutely dreadful. Poor kids seriously, you really get attached to them through the game...
THIS is true horror, without needless jumpscares and ultra realistic graphics.
rip Oliver and tina
I hope they keep making more. This is an amazing idea for a game series.
Yeah they're great! There are also two more previous Midnight Scenes stories:
The Highway: ruclips.net/video/jIAuUuRBe0Q/видео.html
and The Goodbye Note: ruclips.net/video/pFbxdjCBl4M/видео.html
Alright but a squirrel was nibbling on a severed finger before anyone went missing. Are we just ignoring that?
oliver did mention that sparkle had not been around to eat in a while. Perhaps, The nanny had been active for a while now.
That squirrel is rabid and needs to be put down.
@@adamclow309 Sparkle was their feral brother, who ate his food in the yard.
Or sparkle was a dog with human fingers
Light snack
"What's this? So squishy."
Those are protective covers for binocular lenses so they don't fog up or gather dust.
Oh boy, I've been using mine wrong then.
You probably put them on a body part of yours. Silly you! It's a rookie mistake to put them on feet before walking through large puddles to avoid having your feet or socks wet.
I feel like this is some sort of dirty joke
Legitimately lol'd.
Wrong, those are small balloons that can be made into small balloon animals
Jesus Christ, that ending was CHILLING. The reveal, the musical score...it yanked me back in time twenty-some-odd years to being terrified of the first Silent Hill and Resident Evil games.
"Don't walk too far away, I don't want to lose sight of you."
...
*TO THE WOODS* !
Reminds me of the movie Mama. And yes, the nanny is the creature. It has the same eye out as the nanny. And someone said tht maybe the father had an affair w her and killed her. The box tht held the nanny's pic was w some condoms. But it was also w the binoculars. Maybe he was obsessed w her and confronted her and she denied him and he killed her.
Yeap. Definitely spied on her from across the street.
The art is neat and the atmosphere works well im my opinion.
There's no doubt in my mind Oliver and Tina's dad was getting with Ms. Marquez on the side while the mom was completely unaware. I guess after some "accident" (the dad killed the nanny obviously), she wasn't actually dead, came back insane, and took her kids...to God knows where.
Makes you wonder with the kiss on the picture of Marquez and the kids. (27:56)
@@zakkuredwolf Oh shit I never noticed that! Also like another comment pointed out, _there are two condoms in the box in the dad's office..._
@@lucasfraczek4320 The two times he decided not to wrap it up. Kept as trophies or some weird memory thing lol
I agree to a point. She's definitely dead, and Dad had something to do with it, but the woods have a Poltergeist/Pet Semetary vibe
But how would the dad bring the two kids into the family? Men don't get pregnant, you see. The kids are definitely from the mother's womb.
So here’s how I see the story. Mrs. Vasquez is actually the mom to both the kids. The picture shows Tina looking happy and Mrs. V looking very motherly. On the other hand there is evidence that the dad was obsessed with her and had a hand in her death (perhaps she rebuffed him if she truly was just the nanny to the children). If she honestly did “disappear”, I would think that she is buried out in the woods. It would explain the connection the spirit has to the woods, along with the squirrel munching on a finger. I personally think she’s buried at the rock, which is why the painting appeared there (since that seems to be a horror trope in my mind). Tina makes it clear that she hates her parents and dislikes Veronica, so I definitely think something happened before Oliver could remember, perhaps the disappearance or that Mrs. V is the actual mom. Either way, it seems Tina knows more than she tells Oliver. As for why the kids were taken, Oliver seems to talk fondly about Mrs. V. I definitely think it’s either revenge or “protection”.
"Support your Indie devs!"
Really smooth 😉
Amen
Man, I used to love watching Octavi Navarro's pixel art speedpaints. The elegant simplicity of pixel art makes it my favorite
For one split sec I honestly thought Tina was going to hug Oliver. 19:42
Well I'm getting a padlock for my door now. Some nanny wendigo is gonna haunt my dreams now.
Wow, that got pretty dark!
Spoilers
So the old nanny was the monster and she wanted the kids for herself?
@jekel thirteen Maybe he was screwing her? There were a couple of rubbers in that box too!
I did notice that Ms. Marquez has the same hair color as both of the children, but their mother has her hair black, just putting that out there...
This reminds me of The Last Door. Similar style of music, similar pacing, and also that crow moment.
Yes ! I was just thinking that too ! The Last Door series is soo good
@@pnjijy I know, right? I always feel like it didn't get *nearly* enough attention for how atmospheric it was. I remember waiting the 3 month period between episodes as they were coming out. Good times ^^
@@nistarok123 The music in TLD was many times better though. In that regard, they're very different.
@@undefinedundefined7420 That's very true. Which is why I only pointed at the style of music. Carlos Viola carried much of TLD's awesomeness imo
God, I still remember the dread the first two chapters caused me when I played them when I was a kid. It was a pretty intense introduction to Gothic/Lovecraftian horror for a 12 year old, lol.
I adore that ending!! Very spooky and sad.
its funny that seeing a squirrel that's eating a human finger is normal lol
Great pace. Creepy ending. I'm sold. Another gem as always. Can't wait for more
One thing I like about this series is that it takes it's inspiration from Twilight Zone, and whether unintentionally or not, once you get into the color episodes it's fair to make the comparison that these later ones are reminiscent of Rod Serling's Night Gallery or the 80's Twilight Zone revival (the better among the revivals, imo).
The introductory track sets the mood so right
Something this creepy is ok for Halloween, which is happening soon, but on any other day it is too much. I am going to have haunting nightmares tonight for sure.
The Nanny is the creature but it seems to be modeled after an old Native American myth known as the skinwalker.
Considering the shape-shifting and overall lanky look, we might be dealing with a Skinwalker.
Midnight scenes is terrifying but interesting. This one is the one that felt the most GAMEY yet.
Damn that was really good. I didnt want it to end.
35:51 idk why but i like this part
In my notifications "Unsettling" was right above "Inspired" in the title and I read it as "Uninspired" and I was obviously confused as to why they'd be uploading a gameplay of some uninspired game, which I assumed ripped off the already sort of uninspiring "Granny" games.
Holy Shit that was amazing. It like watching a better episode of the twilight zone but actually getting creeped out.
Midnight's first.
Excellent video, watched it twice already!
this's horribly nice, the ending is chocking, didn't see that one coming
it's almost 12 pm here and this just show up right now....
Still a lot of questions that I wish would be answered, but that's horror for you. Good video, and a nice game. Sucks everyone basically fucking dies at the end; maybe the Nanny became a Skinwalker, for whatever reason, and used Tina, the other little boys mom, and Veronica as bait.
Watch Into the woods, slightly happier ending then you'd think.
This finally got a sequel.
Seemingly the nanny was the monster, because the monster had what resembled an eyepatch on the same eye as the nanny did.
Somehow, after some kind of an incident, she became the monster.
Beautiful design, interesting story and atmosphere and magnificent music.
I wonder if the next chapters will continue the story somehow or if they'll be just isolated tales.
Hi! They're isolated tales (like The Twilight Zone). You can check out two more of them here:
The Highway: ruclips.net/video/jIAuUuRBe0Q/видео.html
and The Goodbye Note: ruclips.net/video/pFbxdjCBl4M/видео.html
@@AlphaBetaGamer Thanks! I'll check them out.
I would say I've seen more Twilight Zones than your average Joe, and I don't know which episode this is inspired by.
You're about to enter a new dimension........Next stop, The twilight zone."
"Omae wa mou shindeiru"
"Nanny!?"
Good game. Be cool if they did a first person version.
This is better than dark pictures imo
Какой печальный конец.
Жалко всех. И няню тоже, кто знает, что же с ней произошло и почему она воскресла из мёртвых.
Jeez this was incredible
The message on the Luigi board was "Im not"... what wasn't she?
We need more!
Why all the great painters gotta be crazy
Are there multiple ending in this game ? Story was good & creepy.
This is a great youtube game channel!!👏👏👍
The NANI?!
I immediately went to the comment section just to see if anyone made this joke
DONT CRY I'M JUST A FISH
I hate that the 'action' sound effect is a neck snapping
What would be the pc system requirements for modern games designed like old generation games.
Oddly enough it seems to depend on the game engine and how well a person/dev team optimizes them as looking at ones released in the same year the pc system requirements for such games easily varied drasticaly despite similar if not same levels of graphics ,color, sound and so on
The minimum requirements for this game are pretty low:
OS: Windows 8, 10
Processor: 2 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Intel HD 3000 or better
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 300 MB available space
Depends, in the old days they had to make everything fit onto a single 700mb disc, so they got really clever about making games with very efficient engines
Nowadays games are much easier to make, but the cost of this is that we produce less efficient games now
Great game, but kinda disappointed with the ending! It was too abrupt and left way too many loose ends. :-(
I hope there’s a sequel because this story is too good to not have a real ending.
Into the woods is the closest thing, it picks up some of the old threads.
That was fantastic!
Sorry you will make the walktrough of forgive me father ??
