• The next generation of young talent is exciting
• Best trash-talking drivers
• Should NASCAR take the digital rear-view mirrors out of the Next Gen car?
• What is next in the NASCAR charter negotiations?
• Race winner Denny Hamlin calls in
During the Ask Jr. portion of the episode, listeners sent in questions regarding:
• The changes to the bus stop at Watkins Glen

Can you guys use timestamps for the talking points? This would be really helpful.
Seriously. Timestamps and clipped videos. Welcome to the Internet, Dirty Mo Media
It's messed up that the aero blocking is so good you cannot even get to the bumper to wreck the driver in front of you.
If they just made the cup car the xfinity car we’d be good
@@jaffleyfifteen5912Xfinity car with 900+HP. Inject that into my veins pls.
Isn’t that so crazy!!!
@@jaffleyfifteen5912a more powerful xfinity car that’s maybe a bit bigger would be sick
Bowman had a Jr and TJ moment on Sunday with his spotter
I feel like Dale had some tacos for breakfast, w extra hot sauce before the show. Dales a little on the extra spicy side today, lmao 😂😂
Tldr the diffuser creates multiple times more downforce then any prior spoiler used.
The way things are going I think Xfinity should be the premier series. I think people are missing out on the better NASCAR racing going on today.
The Talladega Xfinity race was amazing. I was so glad I chose to go to that one in person instead of cup.
“No Mirrors?! No Spotters?! How do they survive!” 😂 - Every Dirt Racer while opening a beer.
My favorite quote from Dale Jr. over the radio is “Who’s fightin’?!?” In the most happy, curious, country accent ever and it has me laughing all the time 😂
Thx Dale for explaining the issue with aero blocking!
I watch dale jr download just to hear dale yell "BIRDDOGS!" at this point
Andrew... Think of it as an upside down airplane wing. The air enters at the splitter, and is sped up by the shape of the channel. The diffuse is where the air exits the rear of the car. Where an airplane wing generates lift... what do you think will happen, when you flip that upside down?
get rid of the under tray and get the car up off of the track so the air goes under no over to get rid of aero
This is the third or fourth podcast now where Dale's audio is 2x lower than the rest of the group, sometimes the interviews are 2x louder than he is. Y'all might want to look into that because it's rough having to adjust the volume on this show constantly.
Dude the tire pros commercial read was fantastic
What I liked about Mike was that he was an insider. I think I would like an insider as a co-host. I would like that for Denny's show as well.
*NEED A TIME STAMP FOR THE AIR BLOCKING TOPIC* 22:25...
the cars are so tough now compared to the 80-90s that a driver dont have to take care of anything like brakes or even tires anymore.
With the stages gas mileage is on the way out too. Strategy in Nascar is about to be extinct
I wish they’d fix the tire aspect of it. That’s all on goodyear, and drivers do have break failure on short tracks but its rare. I agree with you though.
After the Bristol race I've stood firm if there is a tire that burns out within 30 laps if a driver goes all out it will naturally create comers and goers. Like Brett also mentioned on DBC if nascar incentivises a point a race if a driver leads a lap you have a chance to take away the 3/4 throttle racing at the super speedways.
Remember in the late 90s when all race long, Jeff would run about 5th-7th, then the last 100 miles come like a bat out of hell? Taking care of his stuff and making adjustments. That used to be an art. Hell, in his 13 win 1998 season, he didn’t even lead the most laps that year because of how many times he came from the back side of the top 10
The best one to me for Jr. on the radio was when inbthe Bud car, after the 10 min break in the All-Star race, the crew left lug nuts loose. Had to pit during warm-up laps and fell from like 5th to last. I wish I had it, or it was on RUclips.
Also, I don't know the finances or any details about money, but... It's hard to listen to a man that has over a 300m wealth saying he never made any money from racing. I get it, it's sponsorship etc... but
Leave the cameras in rear of cup car just take away the drivers monitor. Sell that camera view to networks or use in an race view app version
I like this idea
Teams would it to watch lol
The flippin the air cleaner cover....hits home so much. Really sounded good when you had a Rochester Quadrajunk and the secondariers would open up. Gained a whole 1 HP!
When Jeff Gordon says that Hendrick has not even broke even in quite some time, it's concerning.
That's because Rick Hendrick endrick doesn't know how to not spend more than what make. Rick Hendrick know what tires cost he knows what entry fee is each week and so on and can build a budget around that and contingencies into the budget and find areas can save money Like maybe it's downsize the number of employees especially engineers and less trips to the wind tunnel
The tires laid rubber, but they didn't really wear. Lajoie was out there on like 70 lap older tires than Larson and was only 7 tenths slower. Should be double that at minimum for that many more laps, if not more like 2 seconds.
All us kids in the 70s- be flipping the air cleaner top over in our parents cars. My Mom's 455 Buick would really moan. Then we got our own rides and were blessed to grow up surrounded by the golden age of muscle cars. I'm old now but there are two fast Corvettes in my garage still.
Dale, I love the show but have a hearing problem and closed captioning would be great for those of us with this problem. Please!!
There is a cc option on RUclips and it is functional on Dirty Mo.
Right there with you, but there is a closed caption on there and it does work, just hover mouse on screen and its 6th bottom left of the youtube video screen :)
Top of the screen on the right on a phone just “tap” CC” and your set.
I’m not a fan of Denny as a driver, but I really like his ideas and opinions as an owner.
Back in the 70s ( I was really young), 80s and 90s, I never complained that the cars were anything but stock. At least they were up off the ground and looked like stock bodies. Dragging the splitter on the ground is terrible. Having a splitter....is terrible. There's so much they can do to lose the aero issue at least on tracks less than 1.5 miles. If you're aero dependent at Martinsville...there's no hope at any other track.
Can we put Jimmie in a JRM xfinity car? Be much more like what he used to be so successful in… 🏁🏁
Toyota driver, so unfortunately no.
The diffuser accelerates the flow of air under the car which creats an area of low pressure to increase downforce - kinda the reverse of what an airplane wing does.
True, but it was designed to reduce the amount of dirty air coming off the back of the car which should, in theory, help the trailing car maintain front down force. It's clearly not working in that facet.
After talking with Denny, sounds like the drivers should get paid less and the team members more, since they are more valuable. Can’t win without a good pit crew.
It's true! I mean Kyle Busch, arguably the best of his generation, can't get much done in the 8 car because of pit road and slow cars. Chris Buescher starts well over 200 races and runs mid pack until he gets a decent team and suddenly becomes a big threat. Teams are more valuable than drivers.
Here's the problem with paying the driver's less. Their costs are the highest.
The cost of insurance the driver must incur is more than most people can comprehend.
Driving a race car is a high risk occupation. As a result premiums paid are very high.
That money comes out of the pockets of the drivers.
They need to dirty up the aero on the front of every car. Open up the grills on the car so even the lead car has to push that air.
Don’t you worry. This Cup fan loves the Xfinety series more than Cup! I just can’t embrace Cup these days but still look forward to Xfinety. Go Justin!
Does the camera mirror break if they get bumped or backed into the wall?
When will the vacation winner be announced? I know the drawing was yesterday, but I can’t find anything on who won it.
Dale, I am an over-the-road truck driver. I have a couple things I would love to discuss with you about the aero blocking situation. Our Speed limiters vs your lower hp & downforce; ability to pass the car ahead; etc.
The numbers on the roof are uniform. Those are the ones spotters and people looking down from above see, which in Nascar, is most shots. Be it blimp, or crane, or drone...
they’ve talked about how modular this car is and what can be done to it. So fix it. Why can’t we take the defuser off? This can be fixed
They can put a different nose piece on it to flatten it out on the superspeedways like they used to, so many things they can do but choose to do nothing instead.
Can we please have a uncensored version? Please! The beeping is horrible. Still love the show.
They need to monetize the video. Can't do that with swearing.
Gotcha. Sometimes dale gets excited and it's beep beep beep beep. And I have to turn it down. Hahaha
Carson is the real deal
with nba, nhl, mlb you have 2 parties team owners and players. nascars problem is you have actually 4 not 3 parties, the drivers, team owners, nascar itself and the track owners. what you need is nascar iself to own all the tracks that you race on. no 3rd party. you have some drivers who bring their own sponsers, but need a team, then need a charter, but still need a track to race on. nascar needs to get control of its sponsers so can divide profits equally
I sure miss seeing mike on the show
Me too
Amen mate
imo so much better without him slowing the show down for dumb pointless reasons but that's just me
nice try, Mike.
Same. Too much young blood now. Mike was the other grumpy old man in the room but he remembered alot of things and was good for follow up questions and getting that little bit of extra information or clarification to a particular story. I like jr. But sometimes ppl say wild stuff and he just moves on. Where as mike would be like hold up... tell me more about THAT lol
i wish your shows had a little more sound volume. it seems lower and lower each week.
As often as the network camera moves around ...staying on a car for 3-5 seconds on average and ..not being able to see from the stands...the number, no matter where it is...really needs to be bigger.
They also need to go back to the old tire, none of this low profile tire and shorten the back spoiler so there isn’t as much drag on the cars!
i miss the look of the contingency stickers move the numbers back and revisit this
Can't Because The wheelbase is smaller than even the gen 6
100% agree with having to earn the right to throw some shade in an interview.
36:15 (Where I left off so I know where to continue)
it should save your spot on its own btw lol
thanks. I will start here and listen with you
DH #1
Dale what do you think about the cameras in the car they’re driving with the camera do you think the auto shut them off?
When the Frances niominated themselves on the 1st ballot, that immediately let you know the HOF was a frottage fest.
For every action, there is a reaction....
Taking his lane away is the new "aero blocking" not a fan of the digital camera mirrors.
Dale jr reminds me of Mitch Hedberg the comedian with his cadence
Could they not change the rear spoiler to change the way the air comes off the car like they used too?
Stop the amount it disturbes the air, and makes the car harder to drive at the same time.
What about a split rear spoiler a gap in the middle to allow air through?
The majority of the air is coming from underneath the cars, not the spoilers.
@@bonesdoes6142 wouldn't that allow more to come off the spoiler area? Air still has to go over top of the car and off the rear spoiler.
So the underneath wouldn't be the majority anymore
And this is why people are leaving nascar. It's getting where the first guy that takes the lead keeps it till pitstops or yellow. My favorite driver retired yrs ago. Now I watch out of habit and to see the spectacular wrecks. It's amazing how safe the cars are today.
Perhaps spotters are going the way of the five lugnuts? I doubt they would not take the mirrors and cameras out.
I was at Ontario 500 & Riverside in the 60's & 1970's and saw AJ, GURNEY, MARIO and DONOHUE win those Stock Car races on both ovals & road courses! That is still a touchy issue! Just like if Kyle Larson wins the Indy500 this year on his first attempt!
Carson drove his ass off in both races and he was so close! I was pulling for him and he had me excited and that's because he was damn good
I wanna know where I can get that sundrop hat Dale jr is wearing
It looked like Denny had trouble lifting the trophy
I saw that too he said on his podcast that his shoulder wasn't 100% yet after off-season shoulder surgery
Xfinity races have been better than the cup races lately. Way better racing.
Key word buy one myself, man I hope Dale buys into the 10 n the 4 those are both his guys Noah is my prospect as much as I pick Larson before his Kyle n Kyle show with the slide job
It would be good to get some of the goodyear wngineers on to better understand that aspect of racing. Most folks dont understand just how technical it is...
Man I would kill to have another cup driver as a co host. Kyle Busch?
I think the better and better and more convenient the cars get it's not really going to be considered a talent anymore, just like maybe before the talent was managing all the stuff and the situations on the track, probably what the goal is though, just program the cars to go out there and run.
So, I comment as I'm watching. Dale saying " nascar won't change the underbelly of this new car" is like if the NFL went to a new football...different size or material or whatever...and it made the game suck more...and then saying " the nfl is never going to change the ball back...I mean, if it's clearly affecting the game/race in a negative way...why on earth not change it? Can't admit a mistake? Or as elton said " we only make changes if we KNOW it will make us more money. So, more seats will have to be empty before we make a change to make the racing better...basically.
It makes since nascar allows way less telemetry during the race than f1 except for maybe testing but during the race take it away
The charter thing might be bigger then people think i have never seen jr tip toe around a topic the way he did that an maybe its just hes not sure what to say but i am way more interested in the situation then i was before lol
Does Jr and Tj share the same seat at the studio?
If Chase would’ve won that way everyone would love it……….🏁 #11 👍🏼👍🏼
Take them dang cameras out!!
It's not helping for competitive racing.
Soo does Jr's daught and dad have the same birthday?
Andrew's awesome
The teams are still trying to get to know the car, the drivers are still learning how to drive the cars, Goodyear is still trying to learn how to make a tire for this car. Give the teams, drivers, and tire maker a little bit time and the product will get better. They had decades of data on the old cars to make them as fast as they were.
It's year 3. They had the COT figured out faster than this, and that thing was a brick.
Just make sure the outrage is the same when larson or Byron lead 200 laps and win
That Hall of Fame deal is native brand series political, AJ FOYT is native brand Indycar first which is a direct competitor to NASCAR for fan sport interest! The HOF group would not want to create any doubt on their brand from technically an outsider!
Absolutely get that camera out of the car, it’s only going to affect the newer drivers that don’t know anything different. Will not affect Hamlin, Truex jr, logano , keslowski, Larson etc because they all raced most of there careers without a camera in the car!
I also need to know how jr. Is saying drivers aren’t making any money racing? I think that is such an outlandish statement! I can see maybe the teams losing money if they are not successful
Compared to what Dale Jr made or Jeff Gordon the drivers aren't
@@johnhaas2523 Denny Hamlin is doing very well, so is Brad keslowski both bought a race team. Denny gets paid a million dollars a year and that’s without any wins. So they do get paid good.
Drivers get paid very well! No driver is losing money racing unless they are part owner of a team. And even drivers that aren’t big names get paid very well, none of them struggle to put food on the table.
How about Corey Day jr?????!!!
Miss Mike!
Denny Hamlin at 54:48
Cool, I can avoid that segment
Im with Kyle on some races you have to take out the rear view camera. Digital Mirror, take it out.
No mirror=slide job!
Kelly I need the red camo hat! Lol I miss mine and need u to help me out hell Jr ain't gotta sign it if he doesn't feel like it then I can wear it.
Hey, tell your sponsor xfinity to bring Bally's back.
Bally's is dead
Change the dam spoiler wtf 😂
That was like when I got started in go karts as a kid and I said when do I start making money and I got laughed at and told you don't make money racing and I said well there's money races and they sat me down and did the math with me and they wrote the number down on what you need to go into a money race to be competitive and if you win you might barely make money for just what you put into that one race never mind if and when you wreck and lose money🤷🏼
I work for weeks at a time outside of cell range, what happened to Mike?
35:35 Nascum has ruined me
Same aero problems as an Indycar
Can we get a jr motorsport late model and super late model team that is just vets of the sport having a blast and whoopin ass?
the fact that race teams dont turn profits in america is baffling and foreign to me
No offense to Andrew, but he just seems so uneducated about the sport and doesn’t bring much. This show misses Mike badly
I see your point, I get the feeling he's trying to engage those who really don't know. Rather than the rest of us who at least have somewhat of a clue, lol.
As someone who just got back into the sport and doesn’t know much, I think Andrew brings a lot and definitely helps people like me with a lot of the questions he asks.
Disagree. I’d take these guys over Mike 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.
It’s done intentionally.
@@fitskicksnhitssame here
Bird Dawgs!
Audio is low
When do we talk about making room for these new drivers is it time for Justin to hit the road or is just about sponsorship
Justin bring sponsorship that pays the bills. Jrm can if wanted run 5 Xfinity series cars
Dale what do you think your dad would have wanted had DEI still been around in this situation, charter?
Find the location Near You.
Nascars worst move was to implement a charter system > Because it garunteed spots for those that own and run every week ?When is the last time nascar had 50 cars come to the track and have to race their way into A nascar event? So no the teams have said you set this up u want us to comply in your sport we need some ROI ?
Formula 1 makes money, that’s why they’re keeping Andretti out. Current F1 teams don’t want to split that money.
Denny on his podcast admitted that he looked maybe 3 times in the camera.. so which is it he didn't or did??
If you look at your mirror 3 times in 400 miles, you weren’t using your mirror.
