I methodically removed plastic containers from my kitchen many years ago when I read about the problems occurring from people using plastic bottles for drinking more water daily. Unfortunately, there are still many people using plastic water bottles in 2024. I am glad you reminded people about this health and environmental threat. Thank You!

I did it as a Christmas present for myself to get rid of 99.9% of the plastics in my house. And although I still have a case of water, I brought the aluminum jugs with the clips on then, and I started to put those in my car to drink out of when I'm mobile, and I use stainless steel cups at home. And I got rid of my plastic cutting board last year and am using wood as well.

Many People grew up in a time when plastic was rarely used. Grocery Stores used paper bags for your purchases, bottle water was not in stores, jelly, syrup and most condiments was in glass containers, why we started using plastic was probably for convenience and less lost through breakage. Research about plastic usage at the time We started using it probably had not been studied at all especially about the effect it could possibly have on our Health.

I can remember when they first starting selling bottled water in my area. My dad ran a small service station and a gallon of water cost more than a gallon of gas.

I have switched most of the plastic container from my home to glass. I have been using reusable water bottles for years. I still own a few plastic cutting boards, I also have wood cutting boards but most importantly, I used glass cutting boards for meat. I find that the blood doesn't leach into the crevasses of the wood. Also, I'm in Canada and our government has started to eliminate single use plastic such as grocery bags as well as utensils and straws.

I've been steadily working for a few years swapping out my plastic for glass. I also hated how they started looking when they started to blister, which I believe is when it's most dangerous to the food. I remember hear many years ago that you shouldn't microwave your food with it touching plastic, not even plastic wrap. I have a bunch of plastic packed up, wondering what to do with it. Plus glass also looks better and more sophisticated. 😅

Reuse the glass container you buy your food in, buy silicone freezer molds and silicone bags for food storage.

Though I learned to avoid the items you highlighted, still addicted to single-use and reusable plastic bags of all sizes 😢

Since my mom was aware of microplastics, she avoids all the plastic things she can. Especially in kitchen!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VID!! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS! You could use this video as a launching pad for a national campaign to reduce the use of plastic! I am north of you, in the Poconos. And do my own canning. So I have lots of jars I use for storing stuff in. Glass jar food products are getting harder to find. But they are out there, both small, (jelly jars), or bigger ones for restaurant use. Most grocery stores carry some of those products, restaurant. I rarely ever drink from "water bottles". To me it all tastes "funny".
Hope you have a great day!

If the water is stored in a plastic container like most stores or water dispensers, then transferred to a reusable bottle, am I consuming less particles than I would have straight from the plastic bottle? I'm conscious about it, but can't get my spouse on board! There's plastic everywhere in my home!

The wooden cutting boards i'm told holds a lot of germs in the cracks. The water from my faucet i don't trust so I buy bottled now that isn't safe. How do I get safe drinking water?

I have been gradually replacing my storage containers with glass ones. I have 2 glass water pitchers but the pitcher I use to filter my water is plastic, go figure.

Did they determine any cause and effect of the heart condition + microplastic study? When you first said that I wondered if it could have been diet that often contributes to microplastic intake suggests extra levels of processing which seems to lead to poorer all around health
I tend to avoid many of the things you say but here I have pretty much the same plastic cutting board as the one you showed :P There's so much everywhere
Been using glass leftover bowls with bamboo sealers and they've been great. They also hold up to microwaving a lot better than plastic stuff anyway. If I get anything in a plastic bottle it's one use and then done, but I try to avoid those. Different plastics have different integrities, some are a lot worse than others so I try to avoid the stuff that tends to be worse, especially with regard to food. Where I live there's not a lot of choice of packaging for food, though.
Currently rain gear is something I'm looking into, to try to avoid stuff that's heavily treated. Hopefully science will catch up with all these conveniences we've been using everywhere so we can figure out what's too risky and what's generally OK to still use.
