Excellent! Turns the Wave into acceptable bushcrafting kit. I still prefer the Surge, as I can carry a variety of T-shank saw blades. But I love this modified Wave. Thanks!
Good video my friend. When they came out with the Wave+ they should have put an awl on it. Love your mod it's cool and it makes sense. Keep up the good work 😀👍👌!!
I put it in the scissors slot, the pry tool is too useful. Then put victorinox scissors in place of the serrated blade. It’s absolutely perfect, same tool set as the arc.
Nice video! Too bad Leatherman won’t just sell this part. Taking it out of another tool is kind of expensive unless you really wanted that flat head screwdriver in the other tool.
@@yashas38 yes. I subscribed. I have the Wave Plus and like it very much. I was thinking that the accessory lanyard hole could be an attachment point for something like an awl. It locks. It could work although it would not be a compact awl like your mod was
Love the mod. Please keep posting more multi tool mods. Not sure if possible, but I have and love the Gerber Armbar (all except for the non-locking driver). Would love to see if it is possble to machine a lock (and maybe a bit holder) to the spine
Great vid- thanks. Question- Could you replace the serrated blade on a Leatherman Charge AL or Charge + with this awl without any modification? The Charge would be the perfect outdoors multi-tool with an awl instead of that stupid extra serrated blade, but I'm not sure if it would work. I'm not worried about the warranty as mine is old. But would it work? Thanks!
Thank you sir, if you replace any tool that will become a modification sir. And I don't have any charge multitool to modify, and i don't know the awl will work in the place of serrated blade. I suggest you a channel called Maxlvledc, there you can watch more modification videos and you can ask him your thought.
@@yashas38 Ok thanks for the reply. Yeah, after looking at it again, the serrated blade is an outside, one hand opening blade, so it wouldn't work. However, I think I will just use a Dremel, a file and a Work Sharp to cut down the serrated blade and turn it into an awl. It will be a day's work but will be well worth it. Regards, John
The Surge is a Nice Multi tool but to heavy for every day carry , The Wave + was the perfect size and weight ..lacking a Awl . I gave mine to my son for a Christmas Present .
Very nice mode. It's good they use the same locking for Rebar and Wave that makes it very easy. Can I ask you if I can buy from you the small flat head screw driver from the Rebar, I need to have it on my Wave? Cheers my friend.
Hi, that's very nice ! Can you explain to me the purpose of an awl in bushcraft ? I see a lot of people praising it, and wanting to have it in their multitool but I never figured out what you would accomplish with it...
Sewing leather. Many people will carry sewing needles so they can repair clothing, shelters, etc. An awl is specifically for leather, though, as it's tough enough for that job.
To sat that a sccissors are useless is biased judgement. It depends on your day to day tasks which tool you will find usefull. For me f.e., the need for sccissors was definitely one of the main reasons why I found my rebar to be somewhere incomplete. I purchased and carried micra alongside with my rebar and eventualy switched to wave. Should integrate the microdriver bit into regular bit exchanger. That would create that much needed room for an awl/reamer.
Yashas M I think swapping it out for the scissors would be better, then replace one of the outside tools with scissors from the Surge or Wingman. That flat driver/pry tool is too useful to get rid of.
It is possible! Look here ruclips.net/video/aokciRrFCXU/видео.html But you have to mutilate the inner part of the wave - that little metal stop that prevents wave pliers to jam between the flat screwdriver and the scissors. Rebar doesn't have this stop, its tools themselves are shaped in a way that prevents jamming. But in the video I put a link to you can see that you can remove that one little metal piece, then remove the eyeglass screwdriver completely, move the flathead to the middle and put rebar awl at the left slot.
I was recently thinking about this. On my opinion you can put the awl at the place of the flathead and the flathead instead of the eyglass screwdriver. But therefore you have to shorten the large screwdriver a little bit, because it is too long to fit into this gap. You will loose your guarantee but you will also loose this useless micro scredriver and win a really useful tool.
Where can I purchase genuine leatherman tools from for affordable rates in India? I want to purchase a Leatherman Wave +, which website would you recommend? Thank you
@@yashas38 they should have made a flat bit with both those eyeglass screwdrivers in it sonit fits in the extender It is a massive waste of such a big slot I wanted to make one by taking a philips leatherman flat bit, grinding/cutting off both sides with the philips on it and then grind a slit to drop in the eyeglass bit Then weld everything or glue it .
