Being a guitarplayer you should check out "White Summer" at Royal Albert Hall January 9, 1970 .A cool thing about it is he is using a 1963 Danelectro 3021. It's the type of guitar you would buy your kid at the time to learn on . No professional used them . He uses it in a few really sick performances like in my time of dying .

The song Whole Lotta Love from this show is Amazing. Jimmy's use of a Theramin is badass , flaming gongs also. The finale of the concert. They go all in. Master performers. RockStars forever.

There was a drum teacher from Australia who didn’t know to much about LZ when he started doing reaction videos but he like most people got hooked, he does a lot of different artists, but Zeppelin is addicting , please do more of these songs I would recommend two songs one light and one heavy . The rain song The studio version is fine the second would be the song remains the same that one live is best , it’s like a guitar orchestra with his double neck . Thank you for your reaction, please keep them coming . ✝️☮️

Yeah, Led Zeppelin was a hard rock band, not heavy metal, although they were considered the progenitors of metal. The thing is, they were so diverse and versatile that it's difficult to pigeon-hole them. To me, the best way to learn about their music is to listen to studio cuts because, as you say, performing is an entirely different thing. BTW, Page plays acoustic guitar during many of their songs. It you want to watch some of that vs. listening to studio cuts, try their 3-song acoustic set from their 1975 Earls Court concert.
Edit: Maybe the song you were trying to remember was "Stairway to Heaven". Their performance of it during this same concert is well worth a watch! Quite different from "The Ocean".

I hate when people call them heavy metal, they didn’t like it either. They’re many other genres, & heavy metal isn’t one of them.

Jimmy Page would cuss you out for calling it heavy metal. I was considered hard rock, by genre. Yes, it was hard rock, bordering on proggy. He does use pedal effects: compression with sustainer and occasionally flanger and wah, wah pedals.

You mentioned the Doors. I'm guessing you might have heard "Spanish Caravan," yes? If not, give it a listen. It's a great song, with what sounds like a classical guitar on the intro.

Since you are a classical guitarist 'Stairway to Heaven' should probably be the first song to start out with unless you've already heard it. Most anyone over the age of 35 has by now and at least half of the world's population.

I'm agreed with your follower rhudon, as you're a classical guitarist, probably, playing flamenco too😂, it's, probably, better, if you want to discover them, to start with other songs, not hard rock immediatly 😂(the effect you told about is a wah wah pedal), to see how much they were influenced, by classic music: like he said: " White Summer" live at Royal Albert Hall 1969, you will be impressed by the guitarist, playing alone! And, if you want to see them playing in a a kind of A spanish minor key, watch them playing "Babe,I'm gonna leave you" live on the Danemark radio 1969....Sure you will like it😂Bravo, to make the effort to discover new genres👍Peace from France ✌️
