Ai gunners for bombers are more useless than a burnt out lightbulb at the bottom of the ocean. I think they should open up with inaccurate burst fire within 1KM but get more accurate the closer the enemy plane gets, but also the gun spread stays the more the gunner holds the trigger.
I would agree that the gunners are in most cases useless and I think they should be able to engage targets at a distance of 600m and maybe have a skill to improve the range.
didn't used to be this way. but they preferred to balance via sledgehammer rather than actually fix the one plane causing a problem (the Yer-2s ending matches in 5 minutes by bombing out bases)
Here's the thing about war thunder gunners... I don't want them to be accurate, I just want them to start firing at the target sooner. It makes sense that early war gunners start firing at the 200 yard range; but by late war, I want them to start firing like 800 yards out.
@@jamesstevenson9056 So... this is me being stupid american, but I think a yard and a meter are very similar in length. So, when I say yards, I also mean meters.

My great grandfather was a waist gunner and the radioman of a B24. The name of it was Generator Jenny there's like 2 pics left I know of. You can look up the name and see them.
The AI gunners should scale up their accuracy with BR depending on your crew level, in my opinion it just makes the most sense; the more advanced fighter planes become the better the gunners have gotten at shooting at enemy planes. Kind of like the higher the BR the better trained the AI gunners are.
If flying with the bomb bay doors open didn't add drag they would have not bothered with adding bomb bay doors at all. they do still add drag, just less than on a B17.
Primary reason for the roll-up doors on the -24 was access to the bomb bay for ground crews. With that high-mount wing the bottom of the fuselage was too close to the ground to use conventional bay doors like the B-17 had, so the roll-up doors were chosen instead. The retractable ball turret was used for the same reason to avoid having lt scrape on the runway during landings and takeoffs.
I love when you guys fly the big birds, so much happy times! Also is it not very strange that we only have one version of the b-24? I mean I kn ow it hade a later versin with a front machingun turret too? Also the AI gunners in warthnuder really needs to get updated. it should be scary to attack a bomber but in this game it is usally fighter kills bomber, espacilly if one fly against a fighter with a bog gun like a 37 mm. I think it would deliver such damage but still, it sucks to fly 10+ minuter to get shotdown just at the edge of their bomb points, if one lives that long. Anyway enough of the negativity! awesome video, like always you deliver luaghs and smiles through all the video. keep up the good work!
Ah the Liberator. This plane and the wellington were key instruments in closing the U boat gap where they could surface safely. The Liberators could also escorts convoys further out making them get to England safer where the wellingtons would take over at some point and escort them back. You may ask, why do the Lancaster and Liberator look similar? The Lancaster was based of the Avro Manchester which was made before the Liberator The Liberator was built using a wing technique I forget the name of and needed the twin tail design from a flying boat. They were not inspired or ripped off from each other. This look was evidently the best for the job and it worked, however you can notice key differences in designs.
My grandfather was a ball turret gunner on a B24 in what became the 15th Air Force out in the Med Theater. He laughed when after we took Sicily he was on R&R and he ran into a pair of 82nd boys there. They saw his wings and asked him if he wanted to switch jobs. He said sure jumping out of a plane was easier than his job. They then asked what his was. He said I am a ball turret gunner on a B24 they said NO WAY MAN YOUR BALLS ARE BIGGER THAN OURS.
I swear gunner firing range used to be higher. In the past i would usually fly the Catalina or B-25 with Aced crew, and i didn't even need to focus on gunnery. Because at that BR the gunners could easily handle themselves. Even in the B-29 with Aced crew i had tons of moments where my gunners shot planes down by themselves
