It's a sad but amusing display seeing low meter ABAs at fullscreen unable to do anything. I had an ABA mirror where it happened to both of us and resulted in both of us tbagging until the timer ran out because was too much effort to scoot closer.
@manuelsputnikちゅららis an amazing player, who primarily uses Ky. At AWT, they appeared to be too focused on counterpicking Gobou (with Bridget), so they later on expressed regret because Leo was more of a problem character for them than Asuka. Those were still some amazing matches, and they even played a 30-game revenge match where the score was 18-12 - Gobou.
Blocking, spacing, and air dash is key with ABA in base form. Her far slash is actually decent. And always go with bonding and dissolving if you can being one of the best ways to build jealousy meter and do a little damage. Turning off jealous rage right after less than 50% is also paramount. You don't want to get stuck with no meter.
Ending combos with 236S 6S seems better than ending in keygrab. It generates the same amount of meter and it’s plus enough to let you transform and still get a meaty fS
@@lilacrain3283i’m pretty sure the difference is supposed to be keygrab gives a safejump in normal and obv the wallsplat applications or meaty cS i’d transform but 236S~S gives more gauge they both have uses
biggest weakness of keygrab is that it's range is much smaller than the rekka. the post situations are similar though, so if you're not sure of the range, doing the rekka will at least get you the knockdown and then you can go into god mode from there.
I love watching ABA play, sad thing is I never get to see her actually play the game! Honestly it’s not because her normal form is so bad, it’s the fact that install doesn’t last very long and is very hard to build back up because it doesn’t passively regen. If there’s any buffs I want for her it’d be for the install to self regenerate a little bit based on if she moves, and genuinely thing the Key Grab move needs to move forward a little more to connect more consistently with other moves/routes
Thatd make her braindead like the rest of the cast. I wouldnt want that as an abba main. We have to actually think out here and i love it. The people that enjoy her will optimize the hell out of her and youll see her shine in time. Way too fucking early to be calling for stuff like this.
She does not need passive regeneration. Her 2nd form is the most insane thing to fight against. She builds her special meter fine. Remember that this is a hard matchup for her because she's slow and Ky can just throw out buttons and she cannot really punish. Gobou got excited a lot when he transofrmed and ended up running into Ky's sword. you have to be patient and technical with her.
I think what she really needs is a projectile to use in neutral. As you can see, without Jealousy she can't do much of anything when the opponent is so far away. All you need to do is zone and space her out and you'll win. It's that easy.
I agree with you that A.B.A is a character that is gonna take some figuring out, but she has a fundamental design flaw that is gonna make the meta evolve around gaining a health lead, stalling out Jealous Rage, then timing her out if they don't give her a secondary/passive way to increase Jealous Rage that doesn't involve opponent interaction.
Every DLC - same coupe. Just deal with that Happy Chaos situation won't repeat because the game is 3 years old, not 1. With all characters after the S1 it was clear at release, trash it like everything in S3 or at least mid to high tier like Asuka on release.

Seems if A.B.A doesn't get a really good round start she seriously struggles to get wins. She starts with some rage meter, but waiting it out or forcing her to waste it leaves her in a really disadvantageous situation. I never played her much back in Accent Core+, but IIRC she has passive meter gain in that game. She may need it here, along with gaining meter when blocking just so she isn't denied the ability to play the game. Not gonna lie though, that is literally the best Ky I have ever seen in my life. To get 2 wins off that guy even with A.B.A's glaring weaknesses is pretty amazing.
This might be a stupid complaint, but my main issue for this character is because the damage is this game is so high, even when you win, you get to have fun for like 3 seconds lmao. I would prefer a slightly better normal mode and a slightly weaker JR mode so we can have fun longer.
Agreed, or at least the resource management ought to be tweaked to make gaining Jealous Rage easier to build up (although not by too much or it'll become quickly problematic)
Its still day 3, in a couple weeks when people find the Best ways to manage her gauge she'll be pretty solid, i dont think she's top tier though, she feels pretty balanced
When Aba has no Meter she needs something to get her back in the game or force the opponent to interact. Like Rams move where she pulls the ground up behind the opponent. I tend to use her command dash for movement in neutral at times an its better but its not Anji spin so i get screwed a lot of the time for attempting to gain space
Her dropkick is pretty good midscreen because you can cancel it into 2K, 2D, and it also goes over lows. Risky, yeah, but better than attempting to airdash with her IMO. Also her HS has a surprising amount of range and can really catch people out if they get careless, which can easily lead into her keygrab on counter hit. I mean, she's a hyperfocused risk/reward character who is simultaneously complete trash and god tier. I do think she needs a way to passively build meter though so that she's not just denied the win if she doesn't get a good round start.
@@OmicronX-1999I personally use the Drop kick more as a Movement tool to rush down in normal mode yet the drop kick is Minus 1 in normal mode and Minus 2 in JR making her fastest normal her 2P 5-6 Frames depending on the scenerio so it allows Characters like Sol to always take his turn back or any character to at least clash with their 2p or Axl an Bridget can counter with their 2Ks if you press. Hop is a great movement and evasion tool but as soon as the counter play is out it's not gonna be a safe place to press anymore. Also if your fishing for a counter hit while staying safe go for 2P Ch 2K 2D it gives better knock down an it's a tiny bit safer to do after the Hop. It also leads into key grab if your close enough if not then Turn on JR an go high or Low.

No matter what anyone says or what tier A.B.A is, she should get passive Jealous Rage increase by walking forward. Her current design is fundamentally flawed w/o a secondary or passive way to get Jealous Rage.
I don’t have an issue w that as long as it’s not a huge chunk but she’s slow af so I doubt it would feel that noticeable. I feel like for moves that change the key to jealousy mode should drain less meter for a limited amount of time but issue is jealousy feels overtuned so u gotta be careful how long she can stay in it for.

It makes it so the opponent has to approach more than just camping, so that she doesn't build enough meter to go into Jealous Rage and potentially steamrolling. That gives her more opportunities to land Law is Key or parry/key hit grab.
I'm also wondering if her losing JR meter while taking damage should be changed too. Cause if she's on offense and her opponent does Yellow RC or Burst, and suddenly have the advantage on her, she's losing meter just for blocking or getting caught in a combo and then she's back to square one. I just think maybe if she's stuck blocking or taking damage, she shouldn't lose meter for it. Althooooough I say that and people would probably resort to just camping her out at that point. I'm just thinking aloud I guess. Lol

People suggest she gains JR on walking because of how extreme her loss condition is. It's one thing for Zato to be the worst character in the game while Eddie is down. Aba can't even wait for her bar to recharge if the opponent stays away from her.
To play a good A.B.A you need to now both how to block and spacing, Gobou displays none of those in this match unfortunately, he also did some pretty bad air dashes but I'm pretty sure there's people writing a comment to defend him right now
Why would you expect for gobou to be fully proficient with ABA spacing and defense 3 days after release. The standards and expectations people like you have are just wild ngl. Nobody is good on ABA yet and if you think you know how to be good on aba and what's gonna be important for her gameplan in the long run you're full of it

I feel the same way about Asuka a lot of the time. Some people won’t block bullet hell so when I finally assemble exodia I don’t get to enjoy it
