The song has a great message with empowering lyrics while having the jazzy pop Mamamoo vibe, but it was too commercialized (a strategic way too capture mainstream listners) and too short. It went on the trendier vibe, but according to Hwasa this was given to her by Psy which made her happy from crying at a parking lot in New York, hoping she will add more of her artistic approach as she goes with Pnation on her next release.
Hwasa was crying from seeing a hurtful over-the-line comment while she was touring in the US. She cried in an open parking lot to let out what she felt. She even said that cars were checking on her one by one to see if she was okay. Imagine crying her heart out while wearing the same flashy concert outfit. A few hours after that, Psy out of nowhere called her up and gave her the song, I Love My Body. She even rejected the offer of Psy months before to transfer to PNation (context: coz her contract was about to expire) It was the moment that she laughed for the first time during the tour. She felt alive again hearing the draft of the song. The point is: The song is a gift to her. She felt good about herself again because of the song. She wanted to use the opportunity to empower people more too and to respond to those who brainlessly doubted her. AND WHEN I SAY GIFT, THIS IS ONLY A DIGITAL SINGLE, NOT THE HWASA ALBUM. SHE IS UNFOLDING HER NEW ERA SLOWLY, BUT SURELY. BTW, SHE'S A SONGWRITER, COMPOSER, AND PRODUCER SO FOR SURE SHE HAS A LOT FROM HER VAULT. 🔥✨
my first listen went something like yours. I felt kinda similar to the way I felt about mamamoo+ ggbb because I"m not super into that retro 50's sound. But the chorus totally make this song worth it to me, I love it. Still, I'm super looking forward to her next releases!! I think this was cute but I'm ready to see something more trademark hwasa from her :)
I've seen a couple of Jessi's MVs and I feel like you can really see and hear the P nation music and video production in this one (especially the sound of the chorus). Not for me either but cool
Now yes my goddess HWASA, has answered all the haters distrusted. My body, my rules, enough of this Korean thinness standard, she's beautiful, hot, Talented and POWERFUL. So respect her as she is, because her posture and attitudes make a difference in this world that is so equal. congratulations HWASA FOR THE COURAGE AND WORK OF ART. ACCEPT THAT IT HURTS LESS. thank you for this wonderful reaction. Brazil.❤👏👏
Hwasa has never followed the popular style of music, she is always not kitsch and loyal to being herself. Her songs fully show her personal charm, she has the best singing voice, she is beautiful, and she exudes unique sexiness all over her body. She is my favorite😍 This single is passionate and has a retro feel. I couldn’t help but listen to it over and over again.
I'm with you on the song! I love Hwasa too. This song is a bop that will definitely become popular. It has a great message, great stylistic choices and a catchy melody BUT It's just a little mainstream for me, I guess? It reminds me too much of Hyolyn and Hyuna. I do appreciate the new version of Hwasa we're seeing with this track though and all the fun tiktoks that will definitely evolve from this song. It's definitely a promising start for her Pnation journey.
I wanted to like this because I love hwasa and I loved her previous solo releases, but this song is very Meghan trainor song sound wise specifically the chorus and I don’t like MT flow and how she sings so I was disappointed by this release tbh. Praying that this isn’t the direction pnation want to take with her music
Yea I agree. I think I wouldn’t mind this as a b-side, cause it’s still a style I can see Hwasa doing for fun. But it’s a little too bubblegum poppy for me. And don’t get me wrong, I do love some Meghan Trainer once in a while. And I don’t want to confine Hwasa to any one style or concept. But I feel like this is just easy for her and she’s capable of so much more. I don’t know if this is what I would’ve debuted her with at her new company, but if it’s what she wanted, then I’m happy she did it.
Considering her move to PNation, I was expecting her "debut" track with them to be something a bit brash and out there based on Jessi, Dawn and Hyuna's music, but I think this ended up sounding quite tame for someone like Hwasa. My first thought is that it actually sounded almost old school MMM or something that eSNa would've made, but it also definitely sounds like a Meghan Trainor song. It's a good message for herself and those who hate on her appearance, just disappointed at how mainstream friendly it is compared to the art she made with PWS/RBW. I know it's just a single that PSY gave to her and not her album, so hopefully in that we get material that sounds more like "her".
00:20 the worse part about all this controversy is that the "said" mother wasn't even on the event! She said like last week that saw Hwasa's performace video that went viral and filled the complain like a month after the festival happened 🙄🙄 I bet she doesn't even have a child on that university, she (and the parents organization she's in) has a long history of doing really dumb and pointless things like this (if I recall well, some related with being agains lgtbq+ community as well)
hmm, way too much Megan Trainor in my Hwasa. The chorus is not good, really P-nation sound, very generic made for tik tok chorus. We love the message but it is way more in your face and less well written that in her previous tracks. The verses are better and the bridge is pretty great. As for the whole MV/performance...... this is way too much for my health. Hope we will have more from her soon and don't have to wait as long
In whose face. She is empowering herself. This song is a gift to her and she is just telling the world that she loves her body. Did you want her to speak in parables? She is not delivering a message to herself like in Maria but making a declaration

Update: SHE'S ACTUALLY WORKING ON HER FULL ALBUM during ILMB Promotions! She's keeping the momentum, let's support her more soon! 🔥🧿✨

Set my expectations too high for her cb. Hwasa is gorgeous (voice, visuals, charisma), song and mv - 50/50.
But that's a new start anyway

This kinda different to what I'm used to listening from Hwasa but I LOVE the CB! And the message behind it !
It reminds me of a Megan Trainor song. Not personally for me but it was cute.

I love this concept new look sound and company.. i dnt know what u want From her or her ceo but its doing pretty much then im b so… 😘
I mean, I'm happy you like it! It's a very commercialized sound so I'm not surprised it's doing well for her. That's good!

A lot of parental organizations, here in the US too, feign protection of their children when it's really about limiting the rights of others
By the way sorry if you see me comment on multiple videos, I wasn’t online much lately and catching up on things, hope you are doing well
Can you please react to Young K’s new album??
I'll be doing his two MVs soon
This song gives Meghan Trainor vibes fr
That's my wife
