i saw them in portland and it was the coolest concert i have seen since the mid 70's i was proud to be there, and im sure i was the oldest guy in the crowd, heavy frickin metal what else could you want,,,,,, my parents would not approve of this ,,,hahahahah
This song was recorded during the Dopesmoker sessions, along with another song called "Leagues Beneath". Both were scrapped eventually because Dopesmoker nearly doubled in length during the recording process...
I've seen High on Fire and Om before, and there's nothing like seeing the driving members of those two bands joining forces again to create sonic mayhem. Seeing them live is like a religious experience. I'll still see High on Fire next month in Philly, but it isn't going to be the same :/
Man this was awesome live! How did you find out the name of this song? Do you know anything about a new album or anything like that? Thanks for posting!
Is this a new song they wrote or is it one they never released? Maybe a cover but I doubt it. This sounds like original Sleep with Al's OM style thrown into the mix.
Great tune. Still my favorite from the ATP Minehead bootleg, although there seems to be some debate over the name. I swear I read an interview with Pike talking about the song and referring to it as "Antarctican's Thought", but the other name makes a little more sense.
No wah wah... that's a phaser. He runs 2-3 different heads, all very loud, with a distortion/overdrive box going into some or all of them. A lot of the sound comes from running an overdrive box through an already distorted amp, some from the feedback you get from playing so loud.
ol boy all seems to have gained alittle weight since i saw his vids in july. either road food/lack of exersize is getting him or he stopped doing a thinning drug. either way still a good show.
I'd give anything for Sleep to record a new album...
Well... whatever you did worked!
Cisneros & Pike! They are incomparable in their talented heaviness.

I'm glad that they eventually recorded both songs proper. Sleep can do no wrong among the sonicscapes.
Can't stop listening to that song! Probably the 10th time in a row now!
Thanks for uploading!
AWESOME!! Hope they do a new record!

Best version
I personally like the last one they did with chris
@matt74moses apparently sonic titan was the predecessor of dopesmoker, i doubt it would see a release in studio format
Holy shit, a new Sleep song? YES, PLEASE!

Friday I get to see this in Austin, can't wait!
Pure bliss!! Thank you kind sir for uploading it!
Is the lyrics here the same as you can find in like EVERY OM song if you listen?
OH FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

This and Sonic Titan are killer. Such a shame no studio versions exist of either.
Until last year.
that Ride cymbal is delicious
They're all ride cymbals.

I'd like to hear new studio SLEEP music with this and Sonic Titan on it. \m/
I heared somewhere else that this song is called "Antarctican's Thought". Which one is right?
this song fucking killed last night.
@SonicFreqCtrl Ah of course, gonna kill it at ATP in May!

Fuck Yeah!
This and Sonic Titan could be a 10" EP
I was so stoned at this show hahaha, I don't remember them playing this!
@PisauraXTX if that's wrong then i don't wanna be right
anyone knows what effect mr.Pike used in solo?
Like this much better than the Ozzie cover. Think this is an old one they never played outside practice.

This song is like a fuckin' epic monster.
Note: Actually the song its called: "Antarcticans Thawed"
Who's that on the drums there?
How can you complain? Its the drummer from Neurosis for cryin out loud! I dont think it could get any heavier!!
