Yes I did Solo. 1) You can stay in a good hostel rather than staying in private hotels. There you can make new friends. 2) If you are doing this Trek, start early in the morning like 8 or 9 AM so that you can return before sunset as stay option is not available in winters. 4). Good pair of shoes are necessary to do this Trek in Winter as there is snow. 3) Carry a bottle of water, chocolates, some snacks. However there is one cafe at the top and but everything will be costlier there. Let me know if you have any other query

Yes but not in peak winters. But do confirm from locals in Mcleodganj before you plan to stay at the top.
