If we just say this season’s LeBron is 100% of his potential ability moving forward…
I don’t see why he couldn’t be 50-70% of this 4 or 5 years from now.
The only way he wouldn’t be is from a massive drop off (which he’s given no evidence to think would happen) or serious injury.
Might be a top 50 player at 44 years old.
nah man, those dogs are barking, recovery time is going to be the deciding factor in his retirement aint no way dood is playing more than 1 or two more years.
@@Joe-ge8ud By his choice, but the money and time he puts into his body, plus the technology advancements in sports medicine, overall health for the rich, the only other player I saw that looked this in shape this late into their career, was Kevin Willis, but he didnt do nearly the same as Lebron is still capable of doing..Unless he snaps his achilles, or blows a knee, hes gonna retire when he feels like it, not because he has to...IMo
@@Joe-ge8ud you could be right. But there’s no evidence suggesting that he would go from what he is right now to “aint no way the dude is playing more than a year from now”.
That drop-off would need to be too large to reasonably expect it.
@@Colinkrauss1 I think of it this way, who in their right mind would risk playing basketball over 40 where the risk skyrockets to serious injury, for what to put up15 a game... like who is winning in this situation. not the fans, not the player, not the team.
@@Joe-ge8ud 1). Just because you don’t personally see the value of playing old doesn’t mean LeBron sees it that way.
2). It’s not like no one has ever played a contact sport over 40.
3). Its not like the increase in risk of serious injury goes from 2% at 39 to 90% at 40. Just like how his overall performance will steadily decline, risk of serious injury will steadily increase, not skyrocket instantly.
4). The benefits for him are to win another ring possibly, make more money, grow his legacy.
5). The benefit for the fans is they will want to see him keep playing. What is even the best possible argument for saying the fans “don’t win” if LeBron plays for their team in his 40s. It’s not like fans hated watching washed up old versions of Dirk and Kobe.
6). The team makes money and gains a social icon. What is even a conceivable case that the team “doesn’t win” because LeBron is on their team?
Edit: And all that leads back to the original point. There’s no evidence that suggests these worst case scenarios should be expected to happen within the next 12 months.
