I love Floetrol. An old French Canadian guy who was mid-60’s when I met him in the late 70’s taught me to use Floetrol. I’ve used it ever since. It is a MUST HAVE.
Great video and I am dealing with the exact same issue. I've purchased a gallon of this product a few years ago and always used it for ceiling paint because it's hard to get a smooth and even finish on ceilings even with high end ceiling paint. Your video was perfect but there was one issue: I've read the directions on the gallon jug of Floetrol I have and it says to add 8oz per GALLON of paint NOT per quart if you're using a paint brush and / or roller. If you read further it does say if you're using a paint SPRAYER you should use between 4-8oz per quart but only if you're using a sprayer. Just wanted to point that so those watching use the correct amount of Floetrol. Again, other than that, great video!
I have used flotrol for several years and this is two things i learned using it. One i always strain flotrol. Just a cheap metal strainer from dollar store. Sometimes there are a few lumps in it. The other is flotrol altho milky when wet it by it self dries clear, and will show what ever was on the wall before . Which in itself can be very creative for maybe a design integrated in your wall. You can thin it down too with just water , if you think its to thick. It will still come out great when dry. Of course don't go crazy with water.
Floetrol is a MUST if using box store paint. Decided to do a dark accent wall in Behr Marquee One Coat Matte (1st time using it). After 4 coats, I still wasn't satisfied and took out my trusty floertrol. Have Sherwin Williams Duration Matte everywhere else which went on like soft butter and no visible streaks. Lesson learned! Btw, 8oz to gallon and can use up to 16oz if paint is super thick like the one coat options. Also it worked well in my sprayer when I painted furniture with cabinet enamel.
Looks good I’m using Benjamin moore extender works good.I thinkit’s 8 ounces per gallon not per quart with the floetrol,not sure if extra would adversely effect the finish durability.Thanks
Great advice on the tape de-shedder! So many times I get paint boogers from new rollers. I'm also buying that Floetrol which seems to be the real deal! QUESTION: For roller touchups, I see my roller lines from the day before. Can I use Floetrol and redo the roller line areas without having to do the WHOLE wall?...

The directions indicate 4 to 8 ounces per quart IF you are using a cap gun sprayer. For brush and roller It said to use approximately 8 ounces per Gallon up to 16 ounces if the paint is thick. For a quarter gallon or 1 quart of paint that would be 2 to 4 ounces. So it seemed that twice as much was used in this video. Surprised there were not runs using that mix...

Yes the marquee is like rolling glue,But coverage is great!I Thanks
Plus, Marquee cans state that it is only "one coat" if you choose from the "one coat" pallet of colors

The biggest take away for me was the painters tape to the table and defuzzing the roller bit.
can I apply Fleotrol to Matte or Flat paint to avoid roller marks too?

Final coat for me. Also try to work so you are not in direct sun for longer drying time.

How long do you wait between coats, when using floetrol?
I follow the paint cans directions which in this case was 4 hours.

With the product being white - does it lighten the paint color?
it did not. I thought the same thing myself but when I did some touch up the spot did not show any color difference and did not show up at all.

Behr and Valspar produce low grade paint. Get Ultraspec 500 from Benjamin Moore. Floetrol not necessary

You didn't read the instructions correctly. It's 8oz per gallon when brushing or rolling, and up to 32 Oz when using a paint sprayer. LOL 😆
