    I want to point out that I disagree (slightly) with David's interpretation of the "frog in the well" metaphor. He makes it sound like RM is bragging about BTS having grown bigger than Korea and is mocking those who have not. But RM is very proud of Korea and that's not likely something he would say.
    A frog in a well is not limited to physical space, it is a mindset. RM is talking about people who can't get past narrow minded thinking and criticize BTS for operating in a way that's outside the box of expectations. It's not about going out of Korea it's about daring to be different from what they were told a rapper had to be, or an idol had to be.
    So when you see the line "I hope you die in your well", many people take that as "I hope you die" as a savage line, but it's actually a really chill line. Think of "until you die" as just another way of saying "for the rest of your life" He's not wishing them death, but saying 'if you're happy there in your little box, then stay in that box as long as you live, and good luck with that - we're not staying in it with you.'

    • @curvytangerine
      @curvytangerine 5 лет назад +53

      personally I do think it's a pretty savage line even though he doesn't mean a literal death. he still means a metaphorical death. not just "fine, stay there" (imo), but "if you're gonna be myopic, I seriously hope you stagnate and rot within the industry's status quo."

    Not all ARMY are young. Juvenile, Birdman, Hot Boys, a teenage Lil Wayne, I remember when Cash Money first started, way before Nicki & Drake helped the label become top tier. Of course now the label has kinda fell off.
    But this video is not about Cash Money its about my boys Bangtan Sonyeondan and how mind blowing their rap line is. You guys really need to react to Outro:Tear, as much as I love Ddaeng it has nothing on Tear especially the live version. When I first saw them perform it at the United Center last October I was in complete awe. Seeing them perform it at Soldier Field for the second time was even more amazing. Love the reactions by the way can we get a few of their older b-side tracks especially some of the more R&B influenced tracks like Let Me Know, House of Cards, Love is Not Over, Moving On, & Hold Me Tight. These along with Butterfly & Save Me are the songs that first made me fall in love with BTS.

      You over here reading my favorite song list somehow, lol

    • @tanie2946
      @tanie2946 5 лет назад +3

      I'm gonna be off topic a bit on Cash Money. But, hearing you list off people like a very young Lil Wayne instantly sent me into my own teenage years. My very first rap group I ever encountered was Run DMC back in the early to mid-80's. I was completely hooked from then on on hip hop and rap. I dove right into learning everything. I remember learning how to breakdance and do most of the hip hop moves from watching videos that I would record off of tv. I would watch movies like Breakdancing and replay it over and over until I got down most of the moves. Then when I heard Will Smith's Prince of Bel Air, it changed my perspective on rap lyrics. I started paying more attention to the lyrics instead of just the beat. I even changed the way I wrote poetry because of that. I realized that I could be funny, witty, satirical in my poetry and still be poetry. It didn't always have to be dark, introspective or even romantic (yuck!). I still loved hip hop but couldn't enjoy the rap part once it all became over violent, over sexual, over greedy, and lazy. When I encountered Eminem I started to like it a little bit, but nowhere near how I loved it before. Then here I am... an old woman... totally loving rap again because of BTS. I had almost given up on ever loving this genre again. But BTS's rap line is a breath of fresh air for me. And J-Hope's moves have got me dancing again! I haven't danced since 1994. I can't believe myself right now, but I'm happier than ever! Sorry for the long reply that is totally off topic, but I was inspired to write something because you made me reminisce in a good way. Thank you! 💜

    I warned you. The song is amazing. And the lyrics and lyric dissection is necessary with this masterpiece. RM has a genius level IQ. Suga is up there as well. RM spoke of this recently. He feels like rap has moved away from good lyric writing but he will never be that kind of rapper. He wants us to think about his lyrics.

    If you watch what happened at the Muster concerts this summer, you will understand the power this song has live and how much of a fan favorite it is. This is a true concert banger and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw it incorporated into their live set at some point. The crowd involvement is at top tier the handful of times they have played the song live. Also, the Musters displayed something that is pretty damn cool, which is the boys fanboying over each other. That's what comes across to this ARMY anyway and we love it.

    As always, I enjoyed your video and it feels good when reactors like you spend time getting to know BTS deeper. For us ARMYs, understanding every lyrics of their songs are automatic behavior because we already know we can rely on them to write good lyrics with deeper meanings. It has always been that way since the beginning. So when we introduce BTS to non-fans, it's always our desire for them to look deeper than what they see outside (the good performances) because we already know they're more than that. That's also why ARMYs have created contents like this which we recommend to explain what BTS is about. So thank you.
    When you watched the movie Bring The Soul of BTS, that's even going above and beyond because it's already going the path monetary support. You paid money to watch the boys and maybe in the future, watch a concert too even just for the experience of it. Thank you again.

    “A bee that stings but not deadly”
    ~~I like that metaphor u just did !!
    Actually if they’ll be dead then they won’t feel pain anymore thus keeping them alive while agonizing in intense pain to the point that they wished to be killed instead is the worst situation that haters could get but they deserve it anyway.. I’ve experienced what they did to us BTS & ARMYs on a daily basis since I entered the fandom even until now so I have no mercy for them. 🙄

    Don't know if anyone's mentioned but the fan translators' reactions when this song dropped were crazy funny. They were all so stunned by the amount of wordplay and all had pages and pages of notes trying to explain all the references and context. I remember waiting excitedly to read the lyrics for ddaeng 😄

    We may think that their song as re just simply as it is literally... but with BTS, there is no such thing...
    There are reasons, explanations and story behind every line of the song... to make it more complicated, their MVs are taking us more deeper and giving us more head ache in deciphering all those hints..

    When it comes to dance video I would recommend “boy in luv”. They have a dance practice video. I think you would love it! It’s from very early in their career. They’ve been killin it for a long time.

    Hey. geaux NOLA, yes I know. What's Lil Wayne up to these days?
    Ddaeng really is jabbing at the 3 big 'competitors' in S.Korea. Those groups tried to block BTS journey with boulders. But every hater was silenced with love and harmony by ARMY. You're right, BTS is brilliant with the positive spins on negativity. Suga once said, if everybody (or more) people would speak with positive words, it will change everything.
    Edit: after the second video.....all I got is 'ddaeng'.

    The talk abt the positive "dissing" reminds me of this one song ARMY jokingly calls BTSs diss track to ARMY. It's called Pied Piper, referencing the fairy tale abt the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The song basically talks abt unhealthy fan culture and advises ARMY to not fall too deep down the rabbit hole. On the other hand, in the same song BTS also acknowledges their hand in the cultivation of fan culture, and promises to only lead ARMY to good things.
    I would love to see you guys react to that one as well, preferably with Mika💜

    Of course we know Cash Money Records. Fun fact: Aziatix (A Korean-American group which Flowsik, a South Korean rapper, was a part of) used to be under the label. But unfortunately, they parted ways even before releasing their album. That group was tight back in the days. Now I guess they all went separate ways and you should check out Flowsik's solo songs.
