110 miles per hour is fast for driving on a U.S. highway at any time. The highest speed limit today in the U.S. is 85 mph in Texas. The year this was made, 55 mph was the fastest speed limit in the U.S.

Emma, Jerry Reed (Snowman/Cletus) is speaking in more of a Georgian accent as he is from the just outside Atlanta. Btw, this film was filmed entirely around Atlanta in Georgia despite suggesting that the 2 leads drive in Texarkana, TX and back with the Coors beer. Fyi...the warehouse they pick up the beer from in Texarkana was actually in Conyers, Georgia. My wife is from the Atlanta area and her stepdad worked at that warehouse at one time.

This is a great film. Jackie Gleason Plays the Sheriff. He had his own show in the 1950s. In the First Back To The Future, Marty's grandfather, Sam Baines said, "Now We can watch Jackie Gleason while we eat!" A very iconic old Hollywood actor. For Sally Field, if you want to see another great film with her, I highly recommend "Murphy's Romance" a great romantic drama from 1985. She stsrs with the late and great James Garner and the late Corey Haim. It is a very nice and mellow film. Singer and songwriter Carole King does the music for the film, and it is beautiful. Great Review Emma!😊

110 mph is fast anytime, Its 177 kph.
In Texas the max posted speed limit is 80 mph (129 kph). The highest posted limit in the nation, and in Texas can get way with it about 15 above posted when everybody else is doing it.
    Which happens alot.
177 kph in the eastern United States is insane even today.

Emma, if you watch more Burt Reynolds, watch for a blooper reel during the end credits. There is a video of Burt Reynolds at some kind of gala in the 80s where he's getting a lifetime achievement award, with a room full of celebs of the time. Suddenly, Jackie Gleason arr8ves, in full Buford T Justice costume (minus the gun) and in character,. Gleason proceeds to go across the entire room while improvising a Buford rant every step of the way. Burt laughs his butt off getting to just be a spectator and enjoy Gleason's skill.
