- Hi! Recently there was some beta leaks shown on the internet. I've decided to show you all these unreleased sprite in the best quality possible, some of them are good and other was in the works. The most important point about that video is also to show you all the Gender that didn't make it to the final release.

Pretty sure all the sprites with no shading are "sketches". Notice how all of the sprites with no shading have lots of little errors and just overall look strange? It's not just because there's no shading, they are more roughly done in general.

honestly this feels less like a cryptid and more like they're leaning heavier on the hand motif Arceus has
I like to think that the fence thing contains him and gives him his unified look, and the beta is his "origin" or "unbound" form
It honestly feels like Arceus first form, before it created everything
I wish we kept our little Blob-eus :( but people did point out that it being so vague and having just red rings for eyes could have been a bit terrifying for children, which is fair

It’s cool how some of the back sprites give us insight into even older Pokémon designs. Like I wanna see the beta Lake Trio, Gastrodon, and Lickilicki’s front sprites!
You can really tell that they don't design all of the Pokemon at the same time. The really interesting thing to me is seeing the various stages they had to go through to get a final sprite, and how much work really goes into creating a cohesive style across a game. You can see Pokemon here that exist as little more than silhouettes with flat colors, Pokemon that have the basic shapes but few details, alternate iterations on the designs that are well developed or close to final, and a few sprites that are nearly identical to the final game but with slight differences in shading or outline. This is extremely cool.
Magmortar is the most obvious example of a Pokémon that had a set design but was finalized late. Alternatively, Cranidos’s and Ranpardos’s original designs appeared completed but were changed heavily by the time of their final designs.
Then, you have your Rotoms and Regigigases, who were definitely designed VERY later in development.

Ngl I kind of love the beta Arceus sprite. It gives off that kind of "incomprehensible" vibe, which I think is really cool to see in deity type characters. Like you can't actually grasp it's true form

@@darthsidious3278It seems the design was going for arceus is surrounding by mist or some unknown power which distort it's true form. Rather arceus just hiding in the mist or totally not some four leg creature, you never know how arceus ACTUALLY looks like. You couldn't have an idea to it in lore and that's where the "incomprehensible" vibe comes.

I find it interesting that at 6:40 when the lake guardians are shown off they also have earlier designs hopefully they haven't been lost to time, and more about the Gen 4 beta will be found sooner than later.
I think back sprites are designed first, so the only evidence of their original work would be in concept art somewhere. It may not even be that, as the three of them are clearly edited versions of the other.

We’re seriously sleeping on Beta Yanmega’s design, it’s actually really cool.
I love the beta prinplup design. If they just made the sprites polished, it would be so much better than the current one imo (The beta one looks cute and the current one is ugly imo)

When I saw Abomasnow, I was like “Yo, is this Gen V Abomasnow?” It just looks that good! (Unfortunately, that may have been why it got scrapped; it looks so different compared with the art style of the rest of the Gen IV ‘mons.)
Why did they scrap it?! I mean, the original sprite made it look like some intimidating tree monster that could sweep your team with its sheer power, but they replaced it to some goofy tree just walking about.
Some of these cut sprites go hard. Love the alt poses for Yanmega and Abomasnow. Would be sweet to see concept Garchomp line as a regional variant.
The Beta Gible line looks like they were regional variants.

I think it’s definitely possible. Just restore a skull fossil in gen 9 and it just so happens to be a cranidos that had adapted to living in that region in the past

Regigigas, Arceus, Rotom, Darkrai and Giratina: the graphic designers must have been on shrooms or something.
I like to think that that is what they looked like originally way in the past and the finalized versions of them are what we got because we can't make perfect copies of a past animal, and I think that also goes for thr pokemon world.

It’s kind of interesting to see the progression of the creative process and the way that some designs seem like a couple of drafts needed to come after they just got one submitted. “This needs some small changes to it” and “That needs to go.”

I think my favorite is how the Lake Trio are exactly the same in their front sprites, and vastly different in their back sprites.
The same with Gastrodon and Lickylicky! It seems like they worked with front sprites before back sprites, but were compiling alpha and beta builds in between those stages. Instead of, y'know, keeping the sprites in-sync. That just fascinates me.
But also that their back sprites keep the same ribbon bit

I really like garchomps beta. It's just as cool as the real one, and regional variants has created a perfect excuse to use it! Imagine it color schemed as an orca too. We have a land shark. a rival land orca would be fitting

You can tell the artists didn't meet the deadline for playtesting and had to either send in the unpolished sprite or throw something together so that the mechanics could be tested and debugged on a lot of them. The abominations are definitely just placeholders
