Floor's sister Irene was the backup singer on the left. Some of the singers here were on the previous video, but the constraints of getting all of the original singers together for a live show is probably impossible. The guy with the wires on his head was Michael Mills, who played the part of TH1 in the first video (the guy who sang the digital part).

The cool thing about Ayreon is that all the albums sort of tie into the same story. 'The Source' (the album which this song is from) is technically the start of the story. It's about a race of humans that give control of their planet to a computer (the 'frame) to help solve an environmental catastrophe, but the computer determines that the best course of action is to eliminate the humans. Ten humans and the robot TH-1 escape the planet on the only interstellar ship they have (the 'Starblade') along with the ships crew and head to an ocean planet. The chemist creates a drug ('The Source', aka 'Liquid Eternity') that allows them to evolve into an 'aquatic race'. The drug also makes them basically immortal and allows them to communicate telepathically. The album ends with the survivors (ten plus the ships small crew) living on their new planet ('Planet Y') in relative peace, but in the final track we learn that TH-1 is becoming a new version of the 'frame deep in the ocean. The next album in the timeline, 01011001 ('Y') tells us how machines have now taken over this new planet, and the humans have basically merged with the machines are losing their emotions and sense of time. They now call themselves 'The Forever', since they are essentially ageless drones at this point. We also learn about how they seeded a comet with DNA and sent it to Earth, where it creates human life on our planet. The Forever believe they can live through us telepathically and that they may regain their emotions by doing so. Some of The Forever believe that we need to advance more quickly, and use their telepathy to give us medicine/technology, but this results in us advancing quicker than our morality can cope with. Eventually The Forever realize humanity is doomed and has to decide if they will give them the technology to reverse their past mistakes. Somewhere in the timeline sits the album 'The Electric Castle'From a summary by Arjen: "At the end of the journey those that successfully dealt with their personal demons find out that the voice belongs to an alien named 'Forever of the Stars', a member of an alien race living in a distant galaxy. These aliens created planet Earth and its people as an experiment so they could study, and hopefully one day experience emotions, as they themselves lost feelings eons ago." That's only three albums (less than half!) but I believe those three give you a solid foundation for how the story plays out. Also, I highly recommend any of the Electric Castle Live videos; They are just so fun to watch, plus John de Lancie ('Q' from Star Trek) plays the 'Forever of the Stars' character, which Arjen said he originally based on Q.
Metal musicals, rock opera's....just give it a name. It is unique! Ayreon is a scifi-music story . Arjen Lucassen writes the story and composes this epic music. Sometimes he sings too and plays the guitar. These live shows are rare ( it must fit in everyones agenda). If you have the chance to visit a live show you will never ever forget about it. Unique!!

Ayreon is an ongoing sifi story that covers several non sequential albums. This particular song is from the album 'the source" wich discribes the beginning of the journey. The story starts here with a global computer system called "the frame" . This AI surpassed human intelligence and wants to destroy them. Another AI named TH-1 (Michael Mills , the guy with the wires) is actually helping the humans to escape from the planet and from the Frame. Other songs describe finding another planet (star of sirrah ), and so on. It is a common misunderstanding to confuse TH-1 with The Frame, but its all in the lyrics, and more obvious when one knows about the story behind it. This song was part of a live concert, wich also covered other projects by Arjen Lucassen, some of them already named in other comments, most of it sifi based. Last year Arjen released an album from Star One (another project similar to Ayreon) named Revel In Time. This album had so many good artists that it includes 2 versions of every song, with different vocalists. Other big names featured here are Steve Vai ruclips.net/video/6ADV7NYDfQs/видео.html , and Adriaan Van Den Berg ( White Snake ) ruclips.net/video/-fHN4Qceip4/видео.html. Each song referres to a movie about time travel.

Ayreon Universe and The Electric Castle live are amazing shows and dvd's and to be honest just a sneak peak into the musical world of Arjen Lucassen. Ayreon is no band or group, it's one of Arjen's biggest projects with multiple albums. Much info can be found online and Arjen is very open in interviews. I feel very priviliged to visit one of his (rare) live shows later this year !!!
Love Michael Mills. The dude with the wires sticking out of his head. This Australian multi instrumentalist can play anything and has a wicked vocal range. His charactor is TH-1 this android who maybe behind the computors switching of all life support. His band is called Toehider. Thank you gentlemen.

The albums are concept albums, so each song is part of the story. Floors sister was singing back up (far left one), and yes, of course, that was Floor. The guy with the wirey hat and wild voice represents TH-1, the computer that shut down all the systems on the planet, from the last song. In that, he did that cool harmony part with the binary code. All the singers were on the last one except for the raspy voiced rocker chick.
Everybody Dies refers to what will happen if the AI in the story takes total control and attempts to purge humanity. The human are planning to escape to another planet to survive. Once again it is a part of the bigger science fiction story created by Arjen Lucassen. Mike Mills with the crazy wired hat is playing the role of the computer. Philly, you nailed it. These are like prog/rock metal Broadway plays. All of the singers are playing roles in the story. I love this stuff. It is just tons of fun. All of these vocalist are lead singers for their own bands. Michael Mills, Tommy, Hansi, and Floor were all in the first song you reacted to men. Many of Arjen creations are very unique and in my opinion wonderful fun. He always uses great singers and musicians. So much great music coming out of The Netherlands and other parts of Europe. 👍👍

In the last song "The day..." you met a lot of fantastic singers I think you should check out too. In this one it is Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian again. The must see is "The Bard's Song and Valhalla" Wacken 2016. Insane crowd control. And please check out Epica, the 2nd unbelievable Symphonic Metal Band next to Nightwish. Best one to start "Beyond the Matrix" live Zenith or "Rivers". Two fantastic versions are now online. One with Apocalyptica, 2 days old. One live from Chile. Both can be found on the official channel of Epica. Mindblowing 🤩🤩🤩

Also a great voice and have been performing with arjen lucassen when they where 19 years old. This entire show is one big best of all abums. and side projects. Just imagine only 3 perfomances where given , no pormotion just Face book and webpage . and was sold out in 1 day over 70 nationalities attended in this 3 day period . That is succes selling out concerts with out even promoting it .

There's at least three songs from the same Ayreon Universe concert that merits a check on channel or private, each of them fairly different from one another too: Age of Shadows, Intergalactic Space Crusaders, Eye of Ra.
If you'd like to see everyone involved in the Ayreon Universe eveent, have a look at "The eye of Ra". They are all on Stage at the End of the Video. Another good song is "Cosmic Fusion" at "Electric Castle and Other Tales" Concerts. It's a bit different to what you've heard by now. Personally I love that song, but just find it out yourself ;)
As someone who grew up with 70s Rock musicals this is very reminiscent of projects like Jesus Christ Superstar or Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat ( or even earlier Hair ! ) . Although the songs do stand alone there's an order which follows a story which makes them understandable . BTW - Floor's sister ( Irene ) is the " backing singer " furthest away from the camera in the black dress

I don't know who said the first reaction wasn't a song but they were wrong. I think perhaps they were talking about the group itself is not a band but a collective supergroup that comes together to produce Arjen's music.
"The Eye Of Ra" is special, although more so if I know the people involved. If diving further down the Ayreon rabbit hole, do this one last, as this is the one that ends the show. Both Floor and Irene were in "Everybody Dies" as well; Floor doing a short main piece and Irene in the backing.

Progressive Rock is characterized by complex extended compositions, experimentation, concept driven lyrics (sci fi based in this case), and virtuosic playing by the musicians. Only opera in the sense that there is a story told through music and their are roles played by each singer. Definitely no opera style vocals. Ayreon music, while it can by heavy and lean towards metal, has many different styles including some beautiful ballads. Checkout Valley of the Queens from the Universe live concert. Gorgeous harmonies by the three female singers and has a folky/renaissance feel to the music.

Two Guys in black are the Frontmen of Epica and Blind Guardian. Ed darby at drums, well you know it, we saw The Day that the World goes down. Name of the growly Whirlwind, i am sorry gotta pass. Its very difficult to shedule an Aeryon Concert bcs of the many involved for sure, sometimes they work with alternative STand ins, but never less quality. Thats the pity with thematic Rock Album and Son gs, like an normal Opera you got an Librtetto, to know what to expect, bcs so manyx Things happen so Fast, Music, SInging, STory. In an Recap First Watch ist really an Challenge to get that all , i would say impossible. I don't know who said the first reaction wasn't a song but they were wrong. I think perhaps they were talking about the group itself is not a band but a collective supergroup that comes together to produce Arjen's music.

@@tazzznphilly Yes, that's her sister (even taller than Floor). The redhead, for example, is -Anneke van Giersbergen- Marcela Bovio, the legend in Europe on the level of Beyonce or Swift. They all play a role and being professionals, their harmonization is perfection.

@@Suwils So not really metal but more progressive rock. Progressive Rock is characterized by complex extended compositions, experimentation, concept driven lyrics (sci fi based in this case), and virtuosic playing by the musicians. Only opera in the sense that there is a story told through music and their are roles played by each singer. Definitely no opera style vocals. Ayreon music, while it can by heavy and lean towards metal, has many different styles including some beautiful ballads. Checkout Valley of the Queens from the Universe live concert. Gorgeous harmonies by the three female singers and has a folky/renaissance feel to the music.
More mainstream examples of prog rock would be Yes and Emerson, Lake, Palmer
