Exactly. There's no point in all the great electronics, since the folks who can afford it will never play it. If they made a Gibson, stripped down, with Custom Shop electronics for a grand, then players could have something usable. Of course, it's not about players...
Not every guitar has to be a work horse. Gibson’s Custom Shop supports some great builders and these runs can often put their craftsmanship to work. I have no problem with this being a collector’s guitar, Gibson makes plenty of vanilla Flying Vs and SGs for players.

I don’t think any of you realize that Jimi Hendrix was switching to Gibson at the end of his career before he passed. He played that Flying V almost exclusively. Jimmy page played a telecaster on Led Zeppelin’s first album and switched to Gibson after that. It happens with a lot of artists
Leave Gibson alone... I think these guitars are a great commemoration. Considering the limited number of these guitars they are making I also don't imagine they are making a ton of profit. Making great guitars takes time and skill, both of which have a price.
Jimi will always (and rightly) be associated with the Strat, but he clearly loved Gibsons enough to get that one made with the arrowhead inlay to celbrate his Apache ancestry. He was playing Flying V's since around '67 and took delivery of the custom built one in '70, so in a world where people pay extra to get a Les Paul beaten up, so it looks like Kossoff's or whoever, I think Gibson releasing a Hendrix Gibson model is relatively sensible.
