My city a few years before I was born. I can imagine my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents taking part in many of these activities. Nice to see. Love Tulsa.
I took swimming lessons at McClure Park Pool, I remember the “island” we’d swim to in the middle. Tulsa is famous for the “Tulsa Sound” genre of music. A fantastic place to grow up and go see live musical acts perform. We used to be the “Oil Capital of the World” until they moved to Houston, darn it.
Sonny and Cher arrived in Hugh Hefner's (Playboy Magazine) private Douglas DC-9-30 jet airliner named "The Big Bunny." Nice seeing Merle Haggard appropriately singing and performing the Bob Wills song, "Take Me Back to Tulsa." Thanks for sharing!
My family and I saw Sonny & Cher first at the Assembly Center and then later at the Mabee Center, both in the early and mid seventies. I'm sixty-three now, just a kid back then and still remember the excitement of it all.
Haha well said! I remember hearing them, too! That’s also the place where we gathered on that hot summer day in 1976 to see “Frampton Comes Alive” tour, along with Gary Wright & Santana opening the show. It was Tulsa’s biggest ticket sales ever - at the time and what a show!! We could bring in our own ice chests filled with food - drink and blankets to sit on. I was seated on the ground very close to the front & was afraid to use the bathroom as I’d probably never make it back to my friends group, it was that crowded! There was a guy walking around taking pictures and telling us to “smile”, so wish I could see those pics, now! 😀
Looks like things were pretty good in Tulsa in the 1970’s! My favorite parts are the arrival of Sonny and Cher in the airport in Hugh Hefner’s jet plane ✈️ which they nicknamed big bunny and Merle haggard 🎶 singing 🎵 in another concert 🎵-btw -Cher is still doing well singing 🎵 and dancing 💃 at nearly 73 years old! That was a good film ! 😊😊😊😊😊
In the mid seventies, I lived in arkansas and would go to tulsa to be a fosball hustler I'm the man that made the Eskimo. Joe's put up a limit twice To beat our champs and win a picture of beer
"My name's Mike Doonesbury, I hail from Tulsa, Oklahoma and women adore me!" But seriously, how can you show the fairgrounds but not show Bell's Amusement Park on one side of it? I miss Bell's. I also miss going to the TG&Y and Otasco stores that were close to my home.
That's when society collapsed...when Otasco stores began accepting "bank cards." Now, no one has any real money. No one can balance a check book, no one can balance their own budget, how can we expect the government to? If you keep all of your money in a bank, you don't have any money.

Those were those days my friend, we thought they’d never end.
Good Memories 👍♥️

Thank you!
I was at the Sonny and Cher concert. I was almost too young to remember much but it was my first concert.
Those darn stockcar races at the fairgrounds was loud even 5 miles away!

Yes, Tulsa was great if you weren't black, brown, or red.

Just search Zingo and you'll see plenty of our video about it.
Hauling hay for two cents a bale. 1000 bales twenty dollars. Concert ticket was twenty dollars.
The one thing that I know. Is when Sonny and Cher were here. They refused to autograph photos for the fans.
400 bucks for a 13 inch tv !! lol
Hitchhiked through Tulsa in 1972. Pervert’s paradise.

If they don't want you to have money they'll just take it all away.
And make it all digital.
Yes. Don't take the Mark of the Beast, when it's rolled out.
Tulsa is a dangerous place now.
