    Wow, you can really see how much copper is missing after the reaction. Looks like it took care of the thin sheets surrounding the contacts. I'll use this method to get rid of the copper before further purification. Thank you!

    Nice and simple, also heard you can dissolve copper with ammonium nitrate dissolved in water

    good job. does this solution work to clean silver/palladium relay contacts from copper?

    • @escrapchannel

      Hi, palladium will be dissolved, too. At least the surface layer, so you will have some Pd in solution.

      Hi, to be honest I never tried, but palladium is possible to be attacked in a solution of strong oxidiser like hydrogen peroxide in presence of chloride and acid. You gave me idea to test this. Thanks!

      @brandonowens282 Hi, I use testing solutions of nitric acid and a second one for silver based on dichromate.

  • @Andykerrfield
    @Andykerrfield 22 дня назад +1

    Giving this a go now and at the moment it's fizzing away but the solution is more green (could be the brass)
    Does anyone know what the gasses are, bubbles start off big (oxygen?) and now really small (hydrogen?) would like to know if worth collecting the gas in the process 🤔

    • @escrapchannel
      @escrapchannel  22 дня назад +1

      @@Andykerrfield Hi, bubbles are nitric oxides. No need to collect them. Solution can turn greenish if nickel present and dissolved or if silver contacts covered with palladium.

      @@TimK-j4b Hi, brass is an alloy of copper with zinc and usually copper is more than zinc in it. Should be working, but I never tried.
