  • It can be hard to try new things! It can be scary to start something new, knowing you might fail. Instead of waiting for everything to be "perfect" I'm jumping in and blending some wool on my new blending board.

Wahoo!! You’ve got a blending board. Fun aren’t they?! I believe you have the same one as I do. I ended up putting hot glue drops on the bottom so it wouldn’t slide so much.
You’re doing great and I love what you created!! Excited to see you spin that up. Take your time and find what works best for you! Here to help💛

That is a great tip! Thanks 😃
It was a lot of fun to try it out! Sometimes it’s hard for me to get past the “what if I mess it up” stage lol. Thank you for all your help and support ❤️

@@ShannonTalksYarn - That feeling can be paralysing. One way I’ve found around it, is to answer the question with “I’ll just pretend I meant it to come out that way.” It doesn’t always work but will often be enough to get me going instead of remaining in the deer-in-headlights stage.
That cheap blending board will serve you well. All you need is a bit of practice finishing the rolags. ☺️
Blending boards are also awesome to do longer colour blends: make some single colour batts or rolags, then do one to blend smooth transition from one colour to the next. Then make rolags from the 2nd colour. Etc, etc. Or mix an intermediary colour.
Can’t wait to see you spin up this blend!

@@ShannonTalksYarn Hi, There is a fellow, Martin, who has recently started his journey on learning to spin. His RUclips channel is “Knit365 blog”. But in January his is documenting his spinning journey with episodes just on his spinning attempts. I think you might find it interesting, and maybe a laugh or two. If you can find a few minutes check out “Knit365 blog-Spinuary Episode 1”. Best wishes, Denzel.

I think you will really like blending up wool. It’s such a different way to be creative! It feels more abstract if that makes sense. 🫶🏻

This is lovely 😊 the fear of messing up something when you grew up being taught that mistakes were to be avoided is so real and so hard to shake off-this video is super cathartic as a reminder that learning is always iterative, and mistakes are not only okay but an important learning tool 😊 great video, and that’s so cool you went for it!
