    I'm 65 and have no idea what it's like to see through both eyes at the same time. Kind of like a birth defect, but have been able to adapt having one eye functional. Do wear glasses now, and now that the bad eye is almost normal, it still refuses to process vision since my good eye has always done the work. No problem, my life has been normal - and when my good eye gets tired, esp. when reading, I patch it up to give it a break, and put the bad one to work.
    Guess we all adapt to whatever handicap we may have, especially if it's from birth and don't have any reference to what normal vision is...that's the good part. On the flip side, if you're young, better to tackle this problem with a workable therapy ASAP, and enjoy the benefits of seeing much more of life than not. Good video!

    Does Vision Therapy work on adults too?

    I'm a 47 year old pilot who has suffered from Amblyopia and my career as a pilot was very affected by this limitation as I had crippling restrictions placed on my medical. Recently I started flying the DCS flight simulator Apache helicopter in virtual reality. I am wondering if this could work as an exercise for strengthening my weaker right eye.
    Why you ask?
    Well, Apache pilots need excellent vision in both eyes and not just in terms of visual acuity but also in being able to process separate information in individual eyes - most especially their right eye. As a result left eye dominant types like myself tend to struggle, anyone who remembers the Nicholas Cage movie Firebirds will remember the scenes where they had him wear a periscope over his right eye with his left eye covered while driving a car.
    The Apache pilot has a helmet mounted monocle display called an IHADSS over their right eye which displays the heads up display kind of like a fighter jet but instead of being on a glass pane on top of the instrument panel it is directly over their eye. It shows primary flight data like airspeed, heading, altitude and flight vector cues as well as being used for targeting. Most importantly it also displays the night-vision sensor image so that the pilot can fly at night. The sensor follows his head movements so wherever he looks at night he can see. At night pretty much the right eye is doing everything and the left eye is left seeing only the darkness or whatever is visible in the cockpit such as display screens. For training they are put in "the bag" where the windows are all covered up forcing the crew to fly ONLY on what the monocle is displaying.
    So while using this my brain is forced to focus more on what the right eye is seeing and process that information hence why I wonder if it is kind of an exercise. My vision is sharp in the right eye but I just struggle to process what I see.
    Do you think using this could actually improve my amblyopia condition? If so how long and how often should I do this - I need to ask so I can justify to my wife that I am not actually playing games, it's a medical procedure! 🤣😂🤣😂

      three exercises were - cat card , dot card and brock string
      well i was in 12th and with that load of pressure etc i was not able to continue with it for a long time
      it is easy to say it will take 30-40 minutes but hard to do it so i haven't gone for surgery till now

    I am 17 too and I had esotropia since I was 5 maybe but I had surgery like a month or two ago called squint surgery. That surgery had fixed my esotropia like if I look left or right they are straight but here comes the problem when I look straight idk what's the problem my eyes looks like the same it used to be a bit better but still like my right eye is a bit inward and that makes the left eye look outward a bit, it's not cuz of esotropia that's already gone cuz of surgery it's cuz of I guess something else which I don't know I'm doing my research and I assume it's cuz of my eyes focus point like I used to see with my left eye all my life and my right one was inward and kinds useless so now when I look straight at something my eyes don't look straight cuz of point of focus I guess like my eyes aren't inward but cuz the way I look at things it makes them look like before for example if you look at your nose straight in the mirror but you see at your nose while having your eyes looking at left a bit like you are looking at your nose focusing it but your eyes are in a bit left direction. Does someone have any idea what it is?

  • @fedes9626
    @fedes9626 2 года назад

    Hi Dr. Lam , I have always had a lazy eye, amblyopia, If I practice I can "turn on" the amblyopic eye and what I can see for example when looking at my hand is a very subtle ghost image of the hand floating to the left and up ( but with no strabismus, maybe eye lens size difference?), my bad eye sight is very very poor.
    , If I move the hand and follow with both eyes this soft ghost hand would follow, so what I think is that my eye sision was suppressed because somehow my eye's lens reflects light poorly and the image is not align to the other eye by size and position. Since I was a kid I always thought I could fix this if there was any way to align my sight with both eyes, maybe by matching image size. What do you think, is there hope for me now?
