Because republican voters are worried about world security of the USA as well. We can't just let Russia or Iran or others take over any country they want too even if they are behind in payments to NATO like Trump said. The reason we have one of the strongest military in the world is because we have bases and allies everywhere . We can move men and equipment quickly. You want to just worry about USA and forget the rest of the world then start counting down! China has already taken our old leadership seats at world tables we no longer sit at because President Trump decided they were not necessary. Well in corporate business you might get away with that for a while but not in foreign trade and politics. Those at the tables get the inside deals and information. We are on the outside more now. And when our Allies fall or leave we will stand alone against nations much more powerful than is because they are combined.
Best rule of war is to weaken the enemy from with in then with attack from outside. So far America is doing a great job of tearing it's self apart. Next is the attacks from without that we won't see coming and while we blame each h other comes the biggest blow. And our government as we have known it will be gone as did Rome.
