I feel like the Paul's intro card is particulary on point for this episode; 4 colorless mana for a 5/3 Paul Sanders artifact creature. Paul Sanders gets -1/-0 for each other human you controll. Flavor text: "We're helping!"
I love how Paul goes from being the strongest player in the group that actually makes it to a pro tour, to being the guy that takes 285 card 5 color good stuff to FNM
As someone who has experienced getting psyched for a competitive event and then brutally washing out because they're just not that good at the game, I find the idea of blowing it at a Pro Tour turning someone into a maniac unable to distinguish good deckbuilding ideas from bad incredibly realistic.
"Why do you keep saying that?" But for real, this one did take a while, because we had to wait for the Pro Tour. But! It's like twice as long as usual, so mise.
The funny thing about Marshall’s “I’ve never even met you before” Is that in Friday Nights GP Vancouver, we see James talk to Marshall casually about a draft and they draft!
I think Cameron has a new invention: Audacity Camouflage. No-one can believe anyone would be insane enough to dress in a suit of magic booster pack wrappers and so refuse to admit to themselves what their eyes just saw.
Every time I watch this episode one thing goes through my head. "Destructive Revelry. Put Destructive Revelry in your sideboard." And this was last year when Theros block was standard legal.
I think this is probably one of my favorite Friday Nights Episodes, and it definitely holds up to the newer ones. From the appearance of Jer, to Paul's Oh No when Cam combos off, James throwing the single booster at Paul to test for draft, the Alex Mono-Red callback, Cam's ghillie suit shedding booster wrappers when he first walks up in it... And the pacing and running gag. Just a great Friday Nights.
Love the show, this show actually has gotten me back into playing MTG. And as I learn more of the way the MTG game evolved and I got back to rewatch the episodes I am starting to get some of the jokes like Bear Force One and always drawing into Gas. LOL So LRR thank you for getting me back into MTG. I am getting some cards from a friend then I plan on heading to Battle for Zendikar Prerelease.
+loadingreadyrun Did Cameron walking on Camera actually happen? Like, was it staged or were you guys allowed to do it for the sake of filming and the players weren't in on it?
So... Thought? 1) "Paul, your next opponent is LSV..." 2) (next scene) "Paul... You've won your last two matches..." Does this mean that (according to LoadingReadyRun/Wizards canon) Paul beat Hall-Of-Famer Luis Scott-Vargas in the mirror? That's awesome! Also, GREAT VIDEO! Keep Friday Nights going forever (if not longer!)
If they only knew how much I love these videos, and how much I feel like there friends and how I feel like I'm part of the group when I watch them! It fuels my love for magic the gathering every time I re watch these
Anyone else find it funny how Destructive Revelry destroys James's Grindclock, Cam's Citadel Seige, and Graham's Molten Vortex, yet it wasn't in Paul's sideboard?
Cam was amazing this was hilarious and one of my favorites they have ever done also loved the subtleties with the standings on the bottom of the screen.
Is it just me, or are the cards of the characters in the intro sequence changing every time? I still laughed myself to death at the "Graham Stark can't even." rules text from a few episodes back though.
I think their effects are very slowly but progressively becoming 'better' (not for all though). I had the most laughs at James' one where he gives all creatures you control +5/+5 Trample, Lifelink and Vigilance... on your postcombat main phase X'D
I'm confused by the continuity of this. So are Jer and Tally not married in FN continuity since there was no mention of her and why doesn't Marshall recognize James now even though they seemed to know each other in the GP video that lead to Paul getting to the PT.
Awesome episode in any case. It's definitely one where I hope there's some material in Loading Time just to see how people at the PT took you filming and Cam sneaking around in that suit :)
Paul has come a long way since the first episodes of Friday Nights. He went from being the new guy who was told how to play Magic by everyone else to a rising pro player who is told how to play Magic by everyone else.
8:43 I'm rewatching these and just noticed, Graham goes to 4 cards, plays mountain, molten turn 1, then turn 2 playes mountain and pitches 2. That's 5 cards, the amount he should have to play, but yet he is still holding cards for his hand afterwards, and then has 2 cards in hand with the draw on the next turn.
If I ever go to an official magic event( when those actually happen) and I see a random dude covered with boosters, I don't care if I win or not, I will have had a memorable experience.
I'm definitely saving up my opened boosters to make a stealth suit like Cam's xD Also the "is that a Molten Vortex?" face was the most epic thing in the whole series XD
I remember playing in FNM around when this video was released. The guy who won that FNM went undefeated with a Phenax mill deck inspired by this video.
Against the Turbofog and the Molten Vortex testing, removing the Windswepts, Spirit and Plains to make room for Orbs of Warding would have made better side tech. It also provides a decent side into the RDW match.
Cyclon I'd suggest trying the trash can of your local FNM, around the time a new set comes out. Just check back several weeks in a row, and eventually you'll find it.* *Some assembly required, wear into staff-only areas at your own risk.
I've been rewatching FN during the quarantine and I have to say, please please PLEASE give us a 10 hour cut of "Graham mulligans". Since the new mulligan would keep giving him 7 cards every time, you could keep using the 7 card "dealing out" part but keep the facial expressions every time. I lack the means to do this myself, but I want to put the idea out there and hope the universe rewards me
It's hilarious how many of the matchups he put very specific cards in his sideboard for could've just been solved by adding 3x naturalize to the board. It is way funnier for him to have that terrible sideboard than it would be if he had an actually good one though so
I feel like the Paul's intro card is particulary on point for this episode;
4 colorless mana for a 5/3 Paul Sanders artifact creature.
Paul Sanders gets -1/-0 for each other human you controll.
Flavor text: "We're helping!"
Too meta
I love how Paul goes from being the strongest player in the group that actually makes it to a pro tour, to being the guy that takes 285 card 5 color good stuff to FNM
He started off though as the noob
Obviously his skill level has only increased!
As someone who has experienced getting psyched for a competitive event and then brutally washing out because they're just not that good at the game, I find the idea of blowing it at a Pro Tour turning someone into a maniac unable to distinguish good deckbuilding ideas from bad incredibly realistic.
I see it as Paul being a great pilot but a poor deckbuilder
To be fair he won with said deck, it just couldn’t be shuffled in a timely manner.
first episode: Paul: how does one play magic? this episode: Paul: *is at pro tour*
A few episodes later: Five Color Good Stuff
Never under estimate the power of five color good stuff
Five color good stuff is the ultimate deck
It's as if this is a children's card game or something. Hilarious.
@@jackiechan2524 It's actually not though, I don't understand why people still say that lol.
Cam's booster ghillie suit is the best.
Dave Ellis gues you could call it a Cam-ouflage *drumroll* :D
I need to mske one of my own ;-)
I need to mske one of my own ;-)
I need to mske one of my own ;-)
Dave Ellis yes
It feels like it's been awhile since the last LRR Friday Nights episode... I used to know you guys, man.
"Why do you keep saying that?"
But for real, this one did take a while, because we had to wait for the Pro Tour. But! It's like twice as long as usual, so mise.
loadingreadyrun
No worries! Thanks for the content! :D
loadingreadyrun You guys should totally do another D&D campaign. Temple of the lava bears was sweet!!
loadingreadyrun you need to do loading ready rumble as a series
IceMetalPunk I
The funny thing about Marshall’s “I’ve never even met you before”
Is that in Friday Nights GP Vancouver, we see James talk to Marshall casually about a draft and they draft!
I was looking for this comment. I love this.
I think Cameron has a new invention: Audacity Camouflage. No-one can believe anyone would be insane enough to dress in a suit of magic booster pack wrappers and so refuse to admit to themselves what their eyes just saw.
What happened to Cam? He was there the first 10 minutes or so, It's like he disappeared all of a sudden.
It's working! You can't even tell he's there! He's actually that pile of wrappers that was shuffling about.
am not spam bot llc.
it's a joke
/wooosh
That's not at all what a whoosh is. He understood the joke, and also added to it. Ironically, you whooshed yourself by saying woosh
Beter Bang r/doublewoosh
I just noticed the gillie suit is in the background when they are testing. 6:29
underrated comment is underrated
Also just noticed it behind James at 4:07
"Mountian, Molten Vortex, go!"
I immediatly started laughing, I knew exactly what was going to happen, hilarious!
I still find myself saying "I'm not sideboarding against the deck where seven mountains is a good hand!"
I love how they picked up the gag from a previous episode where Alex told them a deck can splash a color and still be a mono deck. Love it so much...
JUND 'EM!
TheMagicManSam I don't get it...
TheMagicManSam When in doubt, Jund 'Em Out.
ähvä It's a legitimate strategy
TheMagicManSam Jund! red black and....white? siege rhino, the new way to jund em out!
Facade Magic oh yeah jund is rbg
I was just making a joke about the current standard meta being dominated by abzan which really feels like white jund
That ghillie suit is amazing
WilhelmScreamer What ghillie suit? I didn't see anything.
+Brandon Pack cams clothing like japanese armor
Brandon Pack I saw a hand, but no ghillie suit. What are you talking about?
Nathaniel Yoon Yeah, I think the video is corrupt. Cam showed up sometimes, but only partial. They need to redo the shots.
WilhelmScreamer totally i loved the reactions of the announcers
1:29 Paul's card is very on theme for this episode.
They're helping!
Every time I watch this episode one thing goes through my head. "Destructive Revelry. Put Destructive Revelry in your sideboard." And this was last year when Theros block was standard legal.
Loved the stats ticker at the end. I'm glad Durdle Turtle won some matches.
I imagine that Ian and Raymond don't get much recognition for Friday night's because they don't appear, so I just wanted to thank them for their work!
Awesome episode!
Plus I actually played against a friend on Wednesday who had Kathleen's deck and milled me for 50 in game 1, it was awesome!
"i don't go to sideboard against a deck where 7 mountains is a great hand"
the face of the other guy is just... cant even describe that xD
14:18 The foreshadowing of a single Island on the bottom of Frank's deck, just like Graham's
This is the most hilarious episode of Friday Nights ever. That Ghille suit was too funny.
I can't even express how much I hope you guys keep that pack-suit. It's too amazing to only use once.
Allison T. I think it was falling apart while filming, so I’m afraid not
Love the show, this show actually has gotten me back into playing MTG. And as I learn more of the way the MTG game evolved and I got back to rewatch the episodes I am starting to get some of the jokes like Bear Force One and always drawing into Gas. LOL

So... Thought?
1) "Paul, your next opponent is LSV..."
2) (next scene) "Paul... You've won your last two matches..."
Does this mean that (according to LoadingReadyRun/Wizards canon) Paul beat Hall-Of-Famer Luis Scott-Vargas in the mirror? That's awesome!
Also, GREAT VIDEO! Keep Friday Nights going forever (if not longer!)
That montage takes place over 7 rounds, so it could have been any match.
@@loadingreadyrun but canonically... Did Paul beat LSV?
The crazy part is that the wacky decks here are still somehow less wacky then the decks that were actually played
If they only knew how much I love these videos, and how much I feel like there friends and how I feel like I'm part of the group when I watch them! It fuels my love for magic the gathering every time I re watch these
I'm really hoping that making the Ghillie Suit is part of the next Loading Time digest.
I'm actually really curious about how it was made.
Anyone else find it funny how Destructive Revelry destroys James's Grindclock, Cam's Citadel Seige, and Graham's Molten Vortex, yet it wasn't in Paul's sideboard?
Naturalization would work too. I just kept thinking: sideboard 4 Naturalization.
Cam trying to hide by curling up and putting his hood down was honestly one of the cutest things I've seen on this show
they should do an episode where they draft and its all internal thoughts and draft picks
Aaron Kenyon Yesss, LRR make this a thing
Three years later, your wish has been granted: ruclips.net/video/4KGU6keRzPc/видео.html
Aaron Kenyon Also, search loading ready run pre-prerelease. It’s the crew playing the sealed format of the newest set one week before it releases.
That was basically perfect. I had a weirdly high amount of expectation for a pro tour episode, and this delivered!
It only took me now to realize that when Kathleen was talking about the goblin deck it was right in front of paul
Cam was amazing this was hilarious and one of my favorites they have ever done also loved the subtleties with the standings on the bottom of the screen.
A moral victory was won by Paul. Don't bring weird friends to the PT.
Phillip Cruz So you just go alone? (since I doubt any MtG player including myself has any non-weird friends that would tag along to a PT) XD
By weird, I meant insane peeps that'll hinder your focus. XD
Phillip Cruz thaat makes a lot more sense :D
Zerodayz XD
Maybe run Ajani, though.
Phillip Cruz Why ?
Is it just me, or are the cards of the characters in the intro sequence changing every time?
I still laughed myself to death at the "Graham Stark can't even." rules text from a few episodes back though.
thechrisgrice it's not just you. they change almost, if not every, episode.
SilverAstray I did not know that.
thechrisgrice Paul's card's text was a wonderful foreshadow of this episode.
I think their effects are very slowly but progressively becoming 'better' (not for all though).
I had the most laughs at James' one where he gives all creatures you control +5/+5 Trample, Lifelink and Vigilance... on your postcombat main phase X'D
The only appropriate response to a man in a mtg Ghillie-suit, salute his effort, then slowly back away.
I kind of was expecting paul to be running u/r thopters, I mean, it's a deck based on weaponized science!
I'm confused by the continuity of this. So are Jer and Tally not married in FN continuity since there was no mention of her and why doesn't Marshall recognize James now even though they seemed to know each other in the GP video that lead to Paul getting to the PT.
LRR needs to hire a continuity guy.
Draugo I believe Marshall not recognizing James was just a joke they put in to the script.
Tally's only been in one episode of Friday Night's, so it didn't really come up. The Marshall thing we just legit forget. That's awkward.
Awesome episode in any case. It's definitely one where I hope there's some material in Loading Time just to see how people at the PT took you filming and Cam sneaking around in that suit :)
loadingreadyrun I like my Marhall explanation better. It makes it look like it was done on purpose for a laugh, and it helps you guys save face. :)
E-fro mouthing, "What the fuck," is what really did it for me.
Paul has come a long way since the first episodes of Friday Nights. He went from being the new guy who was told how to play Magic by everyone else to a rising pro player who is told how to play Magic by everyone else.
Cam is now officially known as packman
Didn't Marshall meet James for that impromptu draft during that GP ep where Paul qualified?
Matthew Jacob Ramos Probably didn't recognize him
Matthew Jacob Ramos LRR is somewhere in the comments section here, they said they actually just forgot.
Hey, if I were Marshall in that situation, I'd also deny knowing James
The scrolling text at the bottom of the screen at about 15:45 is hilarious. Jace Beleren, Jim Bond, Wandering Towershell? Awesome.
meandering towershell probably lost most games due to slow play
Tony Blackwell Nice one!
Hermi Monk Yeah, and Jace Beleren was also DQ'd for slobbering on all of the cards, he is only a baby after all.
Austin 3:16 😂
8:43 I'm rewatching these and just noticed, Graham goes to 4 cards, plays mountain, molten turn 1, then turn 2 playes mountain and pitches 2. That's 5 cards, the amount he should have to play, but yet he is still holding cards for his hand afterwards, and then has 2 cards in hand with the draw on the next turn.
he went second, so has 6 cards on turn 2, story checks out.
This still makes me laugh 7 years later. Look at the names at the bottom starting at 14:46 lol
Loved seeing you guys at the event! The booster outfit was amazing in person.
that was one of the best yet
keep making more PLEASE!!!!
I was all like...wheres my LRR....then..BAM! Get OUTTA MY HEAD!....actually..stay in there...you can NEVER LEAVE...moo who hahahaha!
nice to have support from a team at the Pro Tour! these are good friends
This was awesome. Friday nights never gets old...
One of the better Friday night videos in a while
Seeing Frank Lepore make a cameo in this was absolutely fantastic. Love you, Frank!
For some reason the combination of Cam sneaking around in that booster suit + the music just cracks me up everytime :P
Thats so in character for frank to be playing the weird land deck lol.
Man I feel old
This came out just after I started playing magic... good times
If I ever go to an official magic event( when those actually happen) and I see a random dude covered with boosters, I don't care if I win or not, I will have had a memorable experience.
Awesome ep guys, also love the Tachicoma t-shirt Graeme.
I don't play Magic, but I love your sketches on the topic. Keep up the good work LRR!
Best episode uncontested
I'm definitely saving up my opened boosters to make a stealth suit like Cam's xD
Also the "is that a Molten Vortex?" face was the most epic thing in the whole series XD
Love how chill the judges were.
I hope to see many Cam cosplays at upcoming GPs.
And now I must go build a sage of hours + ajani deck...
Holy moley I love that booster ghillie suit, its amazing
I feel so bad for Paul his whole life just crumbles away
I loved this episode. This series is awesome.
Marshal actually has met James before, ironically during the GP Paul qualified for to get to this Pro Tour. They drafted together
so wait... was cam running through a feature match actually on stream? or did they just do it after the fact?
This is the best way you can show off your own tournaments
“Good to know, thanks!”
LMAO I’M DYING SEND HELP
ty LRR for rekindling my love for magic
Love the scrolling text during the interview at the end. Meandering Towershell [TAR] 5-9!
just discovered this series. It is surprisingly informative to noob magic players like me while being great comedy.
Did anyone else notice that only Graham, not both players, wheeled from Day's Undoing when the card says "EACH player"?
turn 3 play an island is a consistently funny joke i come back to often
love the pro tour standings for meandering towershell
This episode was pretty insane, really well done!
Wait LSV played green red devotion?! We have been lied to, it must be a ploy to sell all there unsold M15.
Lol... If only he Sideboarded for that rogue Molten Vortex Deck! :P
Nice ghillie suit at the background when Paul is play testing his deck
the ticker at the end was brilliant
OMG! This is the BEST episode!
I remember playing in FNM around when this video was released. The guy who won that FNM went undefeated with a Phenax mill deck inspired by this video.
Cameron's new card from the intro would be a delicious Uncard.
I love the name jokes in the scrolling bar at the end.
Meandering Towershell [TAR] 5-9
Wow! Cam's ghillie suit is amazing.
Against the Turbofog and the Molten Vortex testing, removing the Windswepts, Spirit and Plains to make room for Orbs of Warding would have made better side tech. It also provides a decent side into the RDW match.
I laughed so much. Probably one of the best episodes yet
Cams Costume just takes the cake - i would have loved for it to show on the live play of the event
"i've never met you" yes you did, you drafted with him at a gp!
"I'm doing nothing, powerfully." Haha
Where can I get the Magic ghillie suit
Cyclon I'd suggest trying the trash can of your local FNM, around the time a new set comes out. Just check back several weeks in a row, and eventually you'll find it.*
*Some assembly required, wear into staff-only areas at your own risk.
Cyclon Desert Bus?
"Be a tourist in your own hometown" I understood that joke, as a fellow Victorian
I like how in the gp that qualifyed Paul for the pro tour James convinced marshal to draft
It is way funnier for him to have that terrible sideboard than it would be if he had an actually good one though so
Oh man, this is gold.
love the cameos from Brian Kibler and Paul Rietzl lolol
Oh my jesus this was a great episode!
