Philly Zoo Gorilla Dad wrestles with his little son.

- Motuba (Dad) wrestles with his two year old son Ajabu at Philadelphia Zoo. When a gorilla has its mouth open but shows only its lower teeth it is in a playful mood and is inviting play. As you can see, both the Dad and his son have "playface" throughout the video. Both are having a great time playing together.
They have a lot of space both indoors and outdoors. They go outside, weather permitting, every day. They actually prefer air conditioning and central heating. They are urban gorillas born in zoos who have never seen a jungle.
This is just a tiny corner where their water fountain is and where training with the keeper occurs (which they enjoy because they get treats for participating voluntarily with their husbandry).
The father Motuba adores both his kids, but differently. Three year old daughter Amani is his little princess; she can do anything and he's even more gentle with her. Two year old Ajabu thinks he's a rough, tough boy and wants to be his father's mini-me.

See my recent posts of young Ajabu playing in his pool in the yard, sometimes with his older half sister. They get outside a lot and have a suitable, enjoyable yard.

dread true You’re an idiot.
I would say he's pretty gentle when you think about the power of a Gorilla.
Contrary to what medias portray, gorillas are some of the gentlest creatures on the planet. You can observe a family of gorillas in the wild from less than 10 feet and as long as you’re not disrespecting the alpha or getting too close to the offspring, they won’t bother you. Even if they do get aggressive, getting into a fetal position with your hands on your head will keep you safe as they’re prideful animals and will not fight unless the fight is fair.

This was one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever seen
1:28 that is clearly a hug. It's incredible how similar our species are.
My dad would literally do that to me or my brother when he wrestled us.
this is the very dangerous sibirian death grip. They look very similar with an untrained eye
But they are in a cage, it’s our big fault
@@makspushkin8401 we're the apex predator, and the alternative is leaving them in the wild where people with guns and no issue hunting for sport will kill them.
in a zoo they're safe, well fed and generally cared for by the public. in the wild, they're prey.
Yal Rathol but they are like prisoners. I’d like to see them in nature reserves, not in cages
Omg he loves his son so much....🙂
I have loved gorillas since I was a child. Thank you for this.
