    Nelson thank you so much for taking these losses in a much better way. We learn from you and I appreciate your sportsmanship you displayed today. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the way you handled yourself previously so I need to express my appreciation when you handled it better. Don’t let these people that act like you are perfect and can’t get better just as we are a community are getting better by the lessons you teach us in chess. Thanks for what you do man.

    You've got every right to say if your opponent is playing weirdly so long as you don't out and out accuse them of cheating without proof. I'm a professional musician and I can tell when people "playing live" are actually miming to a backing track but it's hard to explain to my friends that it's not legit. They just don't know what exactly to look for, or should I say listen for. Often, the performers are actually very good musicians but have been given no choice by the show's managers. Still, when subtle things are "off" you just know, because you've put in your 10,000 hours. Proving something is a different matter from suspecting something with a very high degree of certainty though!

    The only thing that looked weird to me in the last game that you lost, Nelson, was that during the game you started wasting time setting up polls and distracting yourself in that way, and not very surprisingly you blundered your queen. That wasn't your opponent cheating, that's just what happens.
    As for his spending five minutes on one move, we can't know what happened. Maybe his wee baby started screaming, or the postman arrived to deliver a parcel and needed a signature, and maybe it was a new camera that he had been waiting for, and so he wanted to check the content of the box. Or a thousand other things might have happened that may look weird seen from your viewpoint, but if you knew, it would be perfectly natural. In my view there was no reason to suspect anything.

    Nelson, never explain yourself as you're the captain of this ship. You easily are one of the most upstanding dudes on RUclips. You're commentating in real time for entertainment as well as teaching, not parsing word for word. Saying something feels off isn't the same as "This is a cheater". As you get more popular you'll deal with those people. Ignore them... Your loyal followers would rather you talk about your life, bring us in, what did you do in IT (programmer, support) where did you go to college (fans know), what for, what was it like growing up homeschooled focusing on chess, did you do other sports (besides ping pong), how did you meet your wife. Entertain and teach. Those are the best educators we all remember. God bless and play on playa! Can't wait to watch Patser bullet and rapid run!

    One common technique to know if youre dealing with a cheater is looking at the date of the account was created and amount of games played. A couple of months then probably a cheater. Years of account activity and chess games indicate no cheats, if he would be cheating consistently he would not be at that rating or would have been already detected.

  • @S2Pot_Gaming
    @S2Pot_Gaming 10 месяцев назад +1

    I totally agree with your opener. Cheating happens, and if you feel like something is off, there's nothing wrong with voicing that or even just reporting them to be safe. There's an FPS gamer I follow on youtube who is pretty talented, and he will always report anyone who plays suspiciously with no hard feelings and welcomes those that report him. In his mind, a false report is a badge of honor for the one reported, and in the end he isn't the one making the judgement call on the ban; the developers of the game are the ones who make that call. The same idea applies here. So I'm on your side, and your totally not in the wrong here. Keep up the great videos and streams; they are quality content and I have been enjoying them.

      On the other hand, he really started the “implications” after he made a big blunder, which can hardly be the opponent’s fault. And it was not like he rushed the blunder move, he took his time moving the queen.
      And then in the second game he “mouse slipped” to the left, when he wanted to move down to the right. How is that even possible?
      And “implicating” him based on that he takes time between moves was just stupid. Nelson frequently spends minutes to consider which move to make just to decide to make a slow move in the end. But you would not see that as suspicious, would you?
      Maybe the opponent cheated, maybe not. But Nelson’s competitive side surely surfaced: He does not like loosing.

    • @javiercarbonell1891
      @javiercarbonell1891 10 месяцев назад +3

      Love the competitive spirit, didn’t love how he went about expressing his frustration. Highly possible opponent cheated but nothing blatantly obvious and he certainly shouldn’t have handled the way he did imo. The way he took these losses was far and away more respectable imo.

    The only thing i would say in regards to calling out cheaters is you shouldn't be showing peoples usernames if you are going to do that. Like it or not there are psychopaths everywhere, even if its 1 in 1000 of your viewers, that's still dozens of people who are completely unreasonable monsters who are going to horribly harass anybody who you call a cheater. You should do your best to not inflict those people on other people, if there is some reason to show your opponents userrname than sure, show it, but if there is no reason, then don't show it.

       It's from the video "We need to talk about this"
      Full quote (@3:52): "I've looked through the game and to be honest, I probably would have him reported as well solely on the fact that 15.Bxb5 took him 12 seconds to play. He said he was turning on his rice cooker at that moment - of course, I cannot confirm that".
      This is in response to the previous video "LIVE chess rating climb to 1450", specifically the second game of the video against Galadriel97, which Nelson loses and then reports his opponent for cheating, and the quote is from the opponent's coach who had emailed Nelson afterwards to defend his student from the accusation

    The people that get really mad over a completely reasonable suspicion are probably cheaters themselves… they don’t like that someone can accurately tell when someone is cheating

      I'm personally mad because I'm 2000+ myself and when nelson starts loosing i can predict something is going bad for him before hand, so it feels like he's a sore looser. The last speed run he expected to not loose against a 2000 being a queen down, and the second game he was making so many positional misplacements of his queen which led to another queen trap. Even the analysis did not look suspicious yet he persisted with the "idk guys, there could me a rice cooker involved". Again nobody likes a sore looser.

    I’m sorry Nelson but it is hellava irritating to watch you eat your lunch while you do this.

    Nelson, you are a streamer with thousands of followers. You can’t just accuse sb of cheating and have your followers harass the guy. You must be aware of your responsibility as a “celebrity” and can’t throw this stuff out. Doesn’t matter what your feelings are, doesn’t even matter whether you are right or wrong.

      He never had anyone harass anyone. Let me guess you think Trump started an insurrection too? You're an idiot!

    Two games lost due to time. The last game you didn’t give yourself enough time to think. This was inevitable because your teaching gets in the way. Yeah, I wanna learn more but not at the expense of your losing. I prefer to learn how you win. Good luck next.
