Great video, it was actually super helpful! i picked up my 09' wrx a couple of years ago and the previous owner had replaced the stock head unit with a cheap cd player at some point. I just got this idoing unit in, and I haven't even seen that extra black wire harness you disconnected from your original head unit, now I'm wondering where it is... >.> btw, That random wire with the little box that you held up and said you had no idea what it was looks like its a sim card reader for the unit, it slides open.
Does the head unit come with a steering wheel control module or is it built into the harness that it comes with? I have a aftermarket unit already but i miss my steering wheel controls. Also does it have something to retain the stock USB port?
The SWC is part of the software in the headunit... its just there, ready to program when you plug it in. Also, yes, you can add the supplied USB ports if you wanted!
This is nice and all, but one thing that's gonna make the choice for me is, how dimmable is the screen? I have one, not from Idoing, in my forester, and I can't dim it very much, so it's really bright at night. I now have a 2014 wrx hatch that I'm looking to get one for.

Tried looking at the speccs of them and I couldn't really make out any major differences between them? Which one is "the best" so to say for android?
What I normally do is message iDoing themselves on instagram and they always help me get the right one! Shoot them a message and let them know I sent ya ;)

Hello, every review I've seen of this headunit talks about the Wireless Apple Car play. Does this unit also have Wireless Android Auto or do you need the USB plug? I do know they make a modle for the Toyota tundra but I don't know if they are the same model or anything. Thanks in advance!!
Yes, it also has wireless android auto, I just don't have an android haha! All the software on the units is pretty much the same no matter the vehicle it goes on. Reach out to @idoing_media on IG and they will get you sorted!
at 7:04, that wire is most likely satellite tuner, I have the same box on top, going to remove it tomorrow as gps doesn't work due to the metal blocking it.
After using it for a couple of months how has it honestly been holding up? And also how is the wireless apple car play holding up? I’m thinking of purchasing one with the camera soon.
Thats a good question. I've always just used the bluetooth so I can't be certain. I want to assume it does since everything was plug and play, but I'll have to check when I get home.
Yes it does for me… it’s crap, they already sent me a 3rd one and it constantly chrashes and car play won’t work… get yourself a brand and not this crap

When using the CarPlay, I just use the Maps app and haven't had a single issue!

I didn't. I use the the maps app, so no need for it.

Nope! Its hooked up directly to the stock harness, so when the car shuts off, so does the radio.

Can't remember... not currently home, but I believe it does, and if not, I think it came with a harness where you could wire it and make it happen.

How did you plug in the stock mic?
Stock mic is part of the existing wiring harness I believe.... just plugs in to the back of the new unit.
Did it have the option for cruise control?
Cruise control buttons go straight to the ECU, not the headunit, so that doesn't even get affected!
