My main problem with NFTs is how it’s become a way for people to profit rather than make and share their art, it’s literally a pyramid scheme at this point. Not to mention it’s extremely energy intensive and bad for the environment. I think it’s a cool concept but ultimately was ruined by corporations and people looking for cash.

NFT is a lot of speculation. If you want to grasp the potential better you should try out decentraland or the sandbox game. See their 3D accessories sold as NFTs. Outfits, pets, cars... etc. Now think you could bring all the NFT accessories you have to OTHER games(that will eventually allow nft gearing up) like GTA, Sims... Basically any game. It’s really just another form of trolling, in the same way as copyright and patent trolling exists. Also this sort of thing is deliberately put out there for the public to deal with and be in discomfort about.
Imagine an uproar occurs enough to the extent that media networks start to report on NFT trolls. That easily leads into legislatures writing and passing laws, but not before corporate lobbyists weigh in on laws regarding courts ruling on NFT disputes. So in regards to legal disputes and threats of lawsuits, corporate legal teams prepare themselves through having greater leverage in court. Court expenses for lengthy trials can be endured by bigger companies, where less likely is that the case with smaller parties.
In the same way copyright and patent trolling happens with the larger bidder being favored versus the smaller bidder in a broken legal system when it comes to IP disputes, NFT’s would stand to be used in similar fashion against smaller and independent people running their own businesses who could find themselves suddenly in the cross hairs of corporate entities threatening action in court. On top of corporate structures suffocating smaller and independent creators, what’s really the biggest problem is that this expands what already exists now: an algorithmic machine; People are already fighting against a machine in terms of settling content claims on RUclips’s platform. This sort of thing is even an inconvenience to corporate legal teams, like a monstrosity grown to large to really control. The transition of bureaucracy to technocracy will be a really bad experience.
