I just did a similar wall treatment with distressed cedar fence planking. For a carpenter who specializes in this work I am very impressed with your design. The imperfections make it beautiful. I would however suggest liquid nail instead of hot glue. It creates a much stronger bond and the sheer force is much stronger. Absolutely fantastic design. Love it
Yeah hot glue (at least the ones i use) tend to go stiff and brittle over the years and i would be worried that as the wood shrinks and swells with humidity it will keep popping off the wall. But who knows maybe it will last a decade and then they might want to change things up a bit? Sure seems like there is no lack of creativity for that to happen. :)
I did a similarly labor intensive project involving thousands of pieces of broken colored tile. It came out absolutely beautiful... and I swore I would never do that again. Y’all did a great job though and it is beautiful 🤩
@@kadzomaalim6801 it was so incredibly labor intensive. Took me several weeks of working on it constantly. The outcome was beautiful but I don’t think I have it in me to do a project with that level-of detail.

Looks awesome - 6000 pieces, 12,000 cuts! Did something in a much smaller space - wish I'd painted the wall a solid black - it's dark grey, but wall coverage isn't 100%. Lesson learned. We put in recessed lighting from above - it's a great night time vibe. Good call on the baking soda - that's a painters trick! Thanks again.

That family has bonding, happiness, enthusiasm, eagerness, willpower and love ♥️ in abundance. Example to all us slouchers. Well done ye.👏 Wall is pretty neat also.👍
Are you kidding! Hot glue adheres like shit to a blanket and the glue sticks are cheap as chips. I use hot glue to mount work pieces to back plates on my lathe all the time. Spinning at ridiculous rpms. Not once has it ever failed me. I'd be more worried about keeping it clean all those lips and cracks look like havens for dust to me.
Hot glue is not archival. It will eventually fail as adhesive because it’s not meant to last. At some point all of these pieces will start falling off the wall
Really nice to see the wife getting involved, I can't tell you how many of these video's I've watched where the man does all the work, and then the wife steps in and takes all the credit. I especially like how the children are involved, their building memories that will last a life time.
Splitting the oak pieces with a hand axe was ingenious. It is also the key to getting hand hewn geometric look you achieved. What a lot of work and a great family experience and video. Thanks for creating this and sharing your video. A shout out from Houston, Texas via Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.

Congratulations, what a wonderful large scale project and your video was excellent. I did something similar on a smaller scale with exotic wood pen blanks 13 years ago. I used 'power grip.'
As someone who recently stumbled down the rabbit hole of audio. Does this whole wall now act as a sound diffuser? Did you experience any change in the acustics before and after? Does it now sound bigger than it did previously? Either way, I love the design!
Very nice! Ambitious project that turned out WONDERFUL! 😊 Lots of respect! The exterior wood siding... that’ll need a coat of something soon. Water seeping into the wood is bad, especially in winter season if water freezes while under the wood. If want to go with all natural (vs paint or poly urethan etc), could consider tung oil. It polymerizes and cures into a cross-link, locking the wood surface from future water ingress into wood fiber.
Только написала комент, что врагу таких соседей😂, только представь каааааак шумнооо😱 и я так понимаю, что у них многое из дерева😨 и не в доме с шумоизоляцией они ВСЁ пилят...
You guys are an inspiration...the walls looks extraordinary and relaxing especially at night with the lighting, I'd imagine it with some big candles flickering away ...gorgeous 🥰
No but you do need the proper tools , why would you spend a fortune on glue sticks but not pop a couple nails in , these will start falling off the first year because it will not stick to those walls long , so much wrong here
Was thinking the same. I'm assuming it'll all come crashing down one day when not expected. Hot glue is good for things like light balsa wood, but vertically attaching hard wood to walls? Construction adhesive is cheap

Best quality family time ever. Family project with kids involved.
This is how it's supposed to be. Kids are so spoiled and lazy these days. When they grow up my kids should be able to build a house.
