  • In this video we'll show you how to configure a layer 2 EVPN routing instance on Juniper. EVPN provides better redundancy, loop prevention and load-balancing mechanisms than VPLS, and is very easy to set up.
We use EVE-NG for our lab environment and we do all our configurations on Juniper virtual routers and firewalls.

What is the purpose of putting vlan-id XX within the routing-instance configuration?

Havent tested it myself but I believe it does. See link here: www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/evpn-vxlan/topics/concept/l2cp-transparency.html

Is it possible to cover BNG services with pppoe and IPoE when time permits ? Huge fan of your channel here btw

A BNG Lab is definitely in the works, but it will take a little bit of time to get to. We already have PPPoE clients set up etc, but we have 2 more videos to complete before we get to that one.
Thanks for the kind words, appreciate the support!

    Should use instance-type mac-vrf instead.

Yeah, there are multiple instance types you can use with EVPN, depending on your end goal. This was just a basic tutorial to get L2 connectivity between two sites using EVPN
