    - This is an amazing hack. Throughout the entire 20 minutes it keeps showing you new obscure mechanics and forces you to really understand them. More than anything else, this hack was a massive learning experience for me.
    - The music choices and the graphics used give this hack a very unique atmosphere. I really appreciate that the stereotypical "Hard level = loud, fast-paced music" approach wasn't used.
    - This is easily the TAS I spend the most time and effort on. It's also my first TAS passing 100k rerecords (a pretty big number!).
    - Difficulty-wise, this hack is not to be underestimated, with a lot of seemingly innocent sections that turn out to be really precise. This is especially cool to see because the main drivers of difficulty in other pit hacks, shell jump chains, are completely absent from this hack.
    - Now that there is an optimized TAS, I can confirm that this is indeed the longest pit hack in existence: Even Non-Reznor'd ColonThree is about half a minute shorter.
    - My (ambitious) goal for this run was to get a time of under 20 minutes. I'm surprised I almost hit it: dacin's reference movie is about 5:40 slower and I'm just off by 6 seconds. I'll call that a win.

    1:03 when you said this didn't look as cool when done fast, I honestly expected much worse. This is still fine.
    1:10 I like how the dead koopa falls down.

    1:16 nice, you avoided the message box that trash talks you for hitting it.
    1:53 This is what happens when you change a section so often that it no longer makes sense. (I couldn't get this shell spin jump clip to work for the longest time.)

    3:51 wow, nice use of smw's proximity detection. I like how the rip van fish can't decide whether it wants to clip into the sprite only block afterwards.
    4:22 I love how fast these spring strats are.
    4:39 sad, but I can only blame myself for not catching this. at least you still did the spring slope clip.
    4:47 that shell toss is a nice touch.
    5:15 see ya koopa. Also, nice strat where you run into the throw block to give it less x-speed.

    7:27 nice, you did this section by going down just twice. Also shoutouts to the single blue block that used to be a spike that used to force low spin jumps.

    8:45 ... (I'm say you skipped the spring board dupe, but on the other hand, I think this together with some other ARMAGEDDON strats makes for a MASSIVE time save in Item Abuse 1.)

    11:47 wow, this break is just amazing. Not only do you have to move the fishin' boo down slightly, you also do a throw block jump I didn't know was possible, and you make use of the lava on the right. While I still prefer the intended strat a lot, I'm not even mad this exists.
    12:04 this fast mushroom duping looks dope.
    12:35 hfLucky didn't even need to manipulate the RNG koopa.
    12:15 It's nice to see you also do the last p-shell jump on the right side of the lava. That's at least one thing that survided...
    13:18 why do a cool speed-cancel strat if you can just hit the p-switch further up.
    13:33 Nice wall jump, but I'm happy you did at least one screen scroll to reset the pause cool down. (There would be spikes on the right if it wasn't a pain to build that part with custom graphics.

    14:44 this fast strat is really cool. On a related note: I have no idea why screen scrolling kills you while inside note blocks like this. Do you know?

    I think having a loud fast-paced music for 20 minutes would have been to much.
    In addition, the calmer music fits a lot better for slower setups like 2:17 3:48 6:40
    Make a hack longer that :3 wasn't my goal, it's more a side effect of all the stuff I wanted to include. I even patched the intro message and switch block animation on the OW to make this shorter.
    I'm not surprised you saved this much time. The reference movie isn't optimized. In fact, some parts are intentionally much slower to show of some stuff (messages, more obvious screen scrolls etc.)
    Time to reject this for too many breaks... ...in all seriousness, I think leaving some breaks for the first player makes for a more interesting playing experience, but there are also some sections where I just missed an obvious boring strat that sometimes even skips a cool subtle part. This mainly happens if you rebuild a section a bunch of times, so the intended solution becomes really ingrained in you. A big difficulty is that you probably need to have beaten CATACLYSM to have a reasonable chance at this (+you also need be good at breaking stuff), so there isn't really anybody else that could playtest this .

      1:53 Now I'm even more curious how the spinjump was originally forced
      4:22 These springboard strats only work as well as they do because I don't have to keep the throwblock. The break at 4:39 really saves more time than one might expect.
      6:04 I didn't even realize the spike hole was there until I read your comment. I think this is one of those setups that gets easier when you try to do it quickly.
      8:45 For the record: I did optimize the springboard duplication and only discovered the break while trying to get into the door as quickly as possible. Only then did I notice that I didn't actually need the second springboard. Anyway, sub 2 in Item Abuse when?

      11:47 On top of that, actually grabbing the goomba isn't trivial either. In fact, for a long time I wasn't convinced that I had achieved anything significant by getting Yoshi up there because grabbing the goomba just appeared to be completely impossible.

      16:21 I totally expected that moon to just be decoration and that it wasn't actually reachable in a run... I'll have to think about it.
      16:42 Even if it was possible to keep the key: Would that even help? The sprite slots are already full a lot of the time and with the key even more things would despawn...

      19:02 What would these flunchers actually achieve though? Forcing the player to get a second cape doesn't seem that interesting tbh.
      I only found one secret (you know which one). I didn't really look for them, especially since you can't show them off in a clear video... I do have my suspicions on where to look for other secrets though.
      I'll accept the hack now. It has been sitting in the waiting queue for long enough I think and the breaks definitely aren't severe enough to warrant a rejection (even the break in the fishing boo room is a complicated and precise mess). In case you do want to fix some stuff, you can always submit an update later.

      ​@@xHF01x 1:53 the point is, it took me forever to find a setup where the intended clip even works. With most of the earlier version you either hit the shell too early or got killed by the non-shell sprite that was there instead.
      4:22 I do like the spring strats and the rightward clip needed to do the zip, so maybe I'll leave them in.
      6:04 It's sad that you don't have to do sticky fly on the flat ceiling, but I don't see an easy way to force you to loose -56 air either.
      11:47 I though you could just do the revival glitch instead of the goomba jump, but maybe the fishin' boo is too low at that point. The most difficult part here is definitely getting Yoshi up there.
      18:36 have the level end at the lava on the right, so you can't unload the pencil.
      19:02 I think it's neat to show off that you can get multiple capes from a single super koopa.

    So I'm trying to piece together a nice polished super Mario rom hack.... what I would like to know...
    If anyone could give me the right order of operations.....
    Patches.... custom music.....custom sprites.....copy...paste some already made levels...
    Does it matter?
    In which order should it be done?

      Mario only interacts with most sprites (including bullet bills) on every 2nd frame. The jump on the bullet bill is frame perfect (otherwise you either hit the spike ceiling or you're too low to still bounce on the bullet bill), so I have to make sure Mario interacts with the bullet bill on the critical frame. The pause achieves that.

      Ich hab das genau ein mal gemacht (und zwar für den letzten Boss in Casio Mario World). Ich mach das normalerweise nicht, hauptsächlich weil ich glaube, dass das furchtbar langweilig wäre. Gerade bei einem Hack wie diesem, wo ich auch mal mehrere Stunden an einer Stelle gesessen hab (das Stun-Setup bei 19:55 z.B. hat so 3-4 Stunden gebraucht, bis alles so gepasst hat wie ich's gebraucht hab). Noch schlimmer: Ich müsste dann ja reden, obwohl wirklich überhaupt nix passiert (oder der Stream wär halt komplett stumm lol).
      Vielleicht mach ich das doch irgendwann noch mal, aber im Moment gibts auch keinen Hack, den ich TASen wollen würde.
