    Thanks for answering my question about how much a trials rider could make. Considering the time and dedication it takes, you guys dersive to make a lot more!

      No problem, wish I had a better answer for you! Truth is, we don't deserve as much as the europeans, or other disciplines since we are not as good and its such a small sport here. So I am happy to have gone this long with it supporting me. Hopefully I can keep it going!

    Excellent! I picked up my first trials bike a couple of months ago and I’m trying to get the basics down before the club season starts.

    I’m watching your clutch hand very intently in this video. It looks like you only need to pull it very slightly to disengage it. Can you do an on the pegs episode that focuses on clutch work and setup?

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  4 года назад +1

      Alan Grant yes I have the engagement point pretty far out so my finger doesn’t have to move far. I have actually done one on slipping and one on popping the clutch that has some close ups. The slipping one will be up on RYP tv next week but I think the popping one is better and is in the January 2020 on the pegs.

    Pat - you forgot one! What would it take to get you down to Iowa for the Iowan Hard Enduro to race your new Sherco SE300?? The race is about 2.5hrs away from you. We can get you registered and a hotel for the night if that will help :)

      I would really like to, but with the trials series starting soon after that I have to focus on that and will likely be heading out west by that point. Thanks for the offer! Hopefully next year... but maybe I could come out and do a course preview video once the snow melts? Would love to come ride out there with you guys sometime either way.

      @@PatSmage Sounds great! I'll shoot you a message once the ground is suitable and we have the trail fully cleared.

    Now that Cody Webb has joined Sherco, will we see any videos of you riding Enduro with him?

      ManyTheMilesHD I really hope so! Nothing planned yet since he is busy and we live very far away from each other but we want to make it happen.

    I got a question for you. When I rode trials, I always rode a little over my head. There was usually something that scared me in the sections. Something I wouldn't have tried while practicing, but said the hell with it and went for it in a competition. Did you scare yourself while riding or is it all no problem for you?

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  3 года назад

      Oh yeah, I definitely get scared now and then! To be more ready for it in competition, I try to scare myself once in a while practicing also. It is a tricky thing to deal with and not everyone does it the same.

    how do you jet your enduro bike for trial riding? I'm getting a lot of spooge riding that slow...

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  4 года назад

      I am running stock jetting for now. If you are doing a lot of pure trials on it, maybe a leaner oil/fuel mixture would help. I try to mix it up and do some faster stuff to let it clean out a bit, although not during this filming.

      @@PatSmage Thanks, I just used today 60:1 instead of 50:1 and it was much better, far less spooge. Wonder how much you use on trial sherco?

      It doesn't really matter. Just makes it more likely to get recommended for someone to watch by the algorithm, but this channel is small enough yet that it doesn't matter either.

    I hope you will at least make enough money to luve a comfortable life because what you do takes way more talent than most every other high paid motorsport.

    • @PatSmage
      @PatSmage  4 года назад +1

      Well I have made it this long so I am appreciative of that! But we are not at the top level in the states, and it is so small here that we don't deserve as much as the best in the world or as the other bigger disciplines. But it sure is hard so hopefully it can continue to grow and get a little bit closer!
