- Oh my this boy is so cute, his hairdo is priceless. And I fell in love with his beautiful sparkly eyes. I hope you'll enjoy this video of 3months old Kiango!
It took me hours before I was able to see him, but my patience was rewarded in the end. In the Netherlands it was raining terribly the day I went, but luckily it cleared up in the afternoon and we got to see Kiango during dinner for the gorilla group.
BaoBao update:
Just before the season ended last year and the zoo closed (Apenheul - the zoo is always closed during winter) the zookeepers found out BaoBao has got heart problems. He is on medication and they changed the group. A teenager boy called Jabari isn't in the group anymore and is on a seperate island in the zoo with a female. He'll move soon to his dad Jambo and brothers in Al Ain Zoo.
BaoBao is doing okay, he was with Gyasi all the time and has seen his offspring. Though he is lots of the time inside and I wasn't able to see him. Hopefully we'll see him soon.

So sad to read about Gyasi, this is a beautiful tribute to her Liekes. Thank you fr your hard work and also for sharing it with us. Kiango is lucky to have the aunts stepping up and raising him. He is such a spunky little guy. One of my favorites to watch.

Oh this day (Tuesday) it was raining all morning and my shoes and socks were already soaked before I was at the gorilla habitat 😅.

No problem. He is doing much better. A heart condition can't go away but they have good medication and they really are creating a less stressful environment for him. But oh I get you miss him, he's such a kind silverback! And I also miss Tayari and Iriki! This friday I've put some clips of Bao bao of last week in the video, if you like. Love watching the older videos of Kiango and Gyasi. Kiango was so fortunate to get her milk that first year ❤ He has grown into a very healthy young juvenile , thanks to Iriki's mother and sister. I hope Bao Bao is better.
It's amazing that gorilla mama's all over hold their little ones about 5 different ways but they all do it!
I can never decide on my favorite method either. I will think it’s when they carry them like a football and then change my mind when they are on their backs. Lol.
@@armpitification i loke the reverse football but I'm always worried one of those little legs will get caught under mom's knuckle!!
@@scottjackson3940 I know! I get so stressed watching but then I remember they know what they are doing. Usually. Lol. Some new mommas seem to struggle a bit (but I did too as a new mom). I just love watching them!!! I’m sure you do too. A beautiful break from the world’s madness.

Sorry to hear about Jabari’s eventual departure, wasn’t he best friends with Chama? I suppose they believe that he’s been stressing Bao Bao out 😅 Hopefully his brothers and father will be excited and ready to welcome him! Although I do worry about a castrated male in a group with four full grown silverbacks, Jabari is feisty and I hope he’ll be able to hold out on his own!

We're very curious too. could be both ways. Tayari and Chama were best friends ;), Jabari gets along well with everybody but he's just a teenager who loves to bully and see how far he can go. Bao Bao doesn't get how he should react to make it stop so now he's out of the group. Wimbe is the leader at this moment in Al Ain Zoo , he used to be very kind and laid back, so I think Jabari will be fine but that's something we ofc don't know for sure. Kiango has a rust cap already and trying to get a taste of Mom's vegi's, very impressive for 3 mos.! This sanctuary is how all protected animals should live, right along with other species just like they would in the wild! Wonderful long shot Liekes and closeups too.....

Lindo vídeo! O bebê kiango é muito lindo, chupando os dedinhos uma fofura, a mãe Gyasi tem orgulho do bebê o cuida bem, até quando o coloca no chão senta o bebê na sua mão para proteger o bebê do solo, e o amamenta com carinho, muito lindo ver o bebê mamando e o carinho com que é tratado. Kiango um bebê de olhos expressivos.
I hope everyone is letting the commercials play all the way through even at the end of the videos it help liekes so she can keep putting up these awesome videos on cloudy rainy days.. also right around the 250 mark when baby and mommy are sitting there I notice something on the baby's head, does anyone know what it could be?? A leaf or something?

LOL your comment made me laugh, I'd wish but now she was moving around because the food was thrown into another direction ;). I was just very lucky she sat facing towards us. Because if there is no food she turns her back towards the public or goes further into the island where we can't see them. Great apes look like they were genetically modified animals that they didn't get all the way right because they almost look 100 percent cognizant of what they are doing but there us always those moments where they look so wild for a second...its creepy.
