Just gotta point this out: Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge are one of the most underrated broadcasting teams college football has ever seen. Both are pure talent in the booth.

Yes. Nobody ever talks about them being great. In fact, when I try to look up Brad Nessler's best calls, there is no compilation. I am very pleased though that I get to hear him on SEC on CBS.

FCS Appalachian State beating #5 Michigan.
Boston College, South Florida, and Kansas all being ranked #2 at some point in the year.
The #1 and #2 ranked teams had not lost in the same week of the season since 1996. #1 and #2 fell during the same weekend three times, including in both of the final two weeks of the regular season:
#1 LSU lost to Kentucky 43-37 in three overtimes, and #2 California lost to Oregon State 31-28.
#1 LSU lost to Arkansas 50-48 in three overtimes on November 23, and #2 Kansas lost to #3 Missouri 36-28.
#1 Missouri lost to #9 Oklahoma 38-17 in the Big 12 Championship Game, and #2 West Virginia lost to Pittsburgh 13-9.
And of course The Curse of #2. 7 different teams were upset when ranked 2nd.

From what I remember Juice fizzled out and even lost his starting job at Illinois to Eddie McGree. He was never going to be an NFL QB. He was riding on his athletic ability and cannon arm and didn't get better.

Dude clearly fumbled the ball into the endzone. Should've been a touchback and OSU ball which would've changed the entire game and this upset would most likely never have had happened...

The year before when OSU went undefeated before losing in the NT, a 2-win Illinois team ran OSU pretty close as well. Illinois did the same in 2002 when OSU won the NT. For whatever reason, Illinois could give Ohio State a tough game in these years.
They still made the natty thanks to the absolute craziness that was the 2007 CFB season
So did LSU (who won it) with two losses! One of which was to my Razorbacks in the final game of the regular season!

I'm Illini till I drop and I was at this game. Greatest sports experience in person of my life. We got to go to the Rose Bowl, and I think they still made the title game that year. Never forget it!

Most definitely. As Illinois fans we have the highest of Highs and the lowest of lows. But one thing we always seem to pull off is at least one or 2 wins a year that people said we had no business winning. My favorite wins that come to mind are this game, the Wisconsin upset in 2019 (McCourts face after passing out at the bottom of the dog pile and being lift on the teams shoulders was such a great moment. Also that was the first time in a while they won in the grey ghost uniforms that I love so much), the penn state upset last year that was the longest game in college football history, and finally the Texas bowl agains the RG3 led Baylor. There are more but those are probably the top favorite games of all time for me. I remember my Dad had just gotten a divorce from his second wife (a total lunatic sociopath but that is beside the point) so He, My older brother, and myself found a house finally after staying at a work friends of his house for a couple weeks. This house was really cool and basically became a bachelor pad since it was just us 3 living there. Anyway he had started tending bar on the weekends to make some extra cash on the side from his computer tech job and he decided he didn’t want to see the blood bath that Baylor was supposed to inflict on Illinois. My older brother was out doing god only knows what. I liked going out and getting in trouble as much as the next teenager but my love for the Fighting Illini surpassed my love for hanging out with friends. So I was at home all alone watching that game and Illinois just destroyed them. I remember texting my dad at halftime or the 3rd quarter and telling him that he had better turn the game on at that bar he was tending at because he was missing the best game all season. Needless to say he was flabbergasted when he saw the score. This was pre everybody owning a smartphone so sending links and streams wasn’t a thing. I remember just jumping around giddy all alone at my house like I was a little kid on Christmas. Looking back it is sad to say but that night might have been the last time in my life where I didn’t have a care in the world and was truly happy.

Remember watching this game. Could not believe the last 8 minutes the buckeyes never had a chance to touch the ball. Ron Zook's best win, and that's coming from a gators fan that was at the game when he won his final game as coach at FSU, something Spurrier never even did. This definitely has to take the cake.

Well, if K-State had won, it would've been KSU-ND in the title game. Would've been a lot closer than Bama-ND.
Juice Williams, Rashad Mendenhall and Aurelius Benn were absolute monsters at times, remeber watching this game and saying after the 1st half, OSU was gonna lose, the "Mo" swung to the Illini late in the 2nd QTR, never swung back even.
I remember this game....as a die-hard BUCKEYE fan there was a feeling in the air that day

as an Illini football/basketball fan the best teams I’ve seen were the 04/05 basketball team and this football team. Juice Williams was DIFFERENT. hasn’t been many great moments in my lifetime for Illini football but this team was special
From what I remember, Ohio State also recruited Juice Williams hard. Zook brought some of the best high school recruits in the country. These recruits were on the level of Ohio State and USC at the time. That's why it didn't totally feel like an upset, but also that the recruiting was finally paying off.
This will go down as one of the greatest games ever.
Juice Williams. Still remember this like it was yesterday, I was huddled in my buddies bedroom because he was watching UFC in his living room and needless to say I was losing my shit and practically clawing my eyes out the entire time. Still bitter.
Say what you will about Ron Zook...but he really made use of the lightning he caught in the bottle in the most incredible season ever in college football. I'm sure Illini fans would kill to go back to the good times like that 2007 season to see good football teams again.

You are right, but those sort of mistakes are part of the game. The human eye can't see everything live the way we can when we slow down or freeze the video. You want every call to be perfect as you want just outcomes in every game, but this is life.
