The most success I have had with this game is using the fireman default build where you start with pretty good stats and an axe. I remember pretty early I was able to one-shot zombies with just an axe swing and didn't have to push them over first. It made the early exploring quick and satisfying.
I'm so sad this is over I was so invested in this. I hope you return to it soon maybe a new place on the map!! I'm absolutely shocked at how into this I got because I've never liked games like this before but this was a blast thanks for playing insym!!

Watched it back over dozens of times. That was 100% a bullshit death. Locking grab corpse to the interact key is going to make doing the fence strat very dangerous for all of us. There's always piles of bodies near fences and we need to be able to hop back and forth with almost no room for error. It may not happen often, but now there will always be that risk of the game choosing to lock us in to a pick up instead of hopping the fence. I sense many players will die this way at some point or another in build 42 and feel cheated. It absolutely needs to be removable from the interact key. Great series, though. I hope you delve straight back in
2:37:06 oh man I would have totally raged quit if THAT happened to me. Then downloaded a mod to make sure that NEVER happened again. Briliant play through.
I like to have 300% zombie count, but put all the zombies on "Fragile", which gives them all like half HP. Then there are still a bunch of zombies to deal with, but you don't feel the need for a cheesy AoE strat - like fire. And you don't need to use the fence strat as much. Crowbar normally takes 5-6 hits, but usually takes 3 on Fragile. Much more fun in my opinion.
Aw man it's such a shame that the series had to end in such a scuffed way. I would absolutely love to see more, either on a new character or even this one if you could somehow bring him back through debug or something. So anticlimactic, having it end like this, especially since you put so much effort into this run
If you are able to, there is a part of the highway called the Crossroads, directly south of Muldgrough, where there are a bunch of burnt cars. Its easy to find. Take a welders mask, a welding torch, and a few propane tanks and right clicking on a burnt car will give you an option to dismantle the chassis, and give you a decent amount of xp. That was Build 41 though, can't confirm on 42
I watched this stream with my mom and we were both devastated to see how it ended. It's painful enough when you die to mistakes you yourself make, but it's even worse when the game's inflexibility - such as the Grab Corpse animation not being cancellable - ends up robbing you of what was otherwise an amazing run. Hopefully the devs at The Indie Stone will see the clip and make the necessary changes, both to animation canceling and being able to rebind the Grab Corpse interaction from the general Interact binding. Also, I have a tip for your next playthrough - you can speed up time with the F2 to F6 buttons, F2 being "pause game" and F6 being "max speed". I think using those keys would make speeding up time feel a bit less precarious as it allows you to react to things happening much faster, such as zombies coming or food getting burnt in the oven, for example. Finally, I'd also just like to inform you that the game will automatically set the game's speed to normal when zombies come within 3-4 tiles of you. I had so much fun watching this playthrough and I hope it's not long until you start the next one! 🥰
I recommend always carrying a bottle of wine or beer at all times, because it is actually better than sleeping pills and painkillers and partially removes sadness, when you drink a 1/4 of the bottle. Also... Bookstores carry books. If you want skill books, you have to go to the schools. That's why a lot of players use schools as bases. You will also need a video store, because the books may give the multipliers, but the VHS tapes give free skill points. Combining both really makes things easier.
Sucks to end a run this way... Hope someone made a bug report about it. The suggestion about making it a right click action would be the perfect solution. Either the devs should patch this or some modder could make a simple keybind mod for it.
You were very close to a almost perfect base location. Just a little above the house you stayed in, there is a dirt road going to the right. If you follow it you'll end up close to a almost totally walled off farm/house that has everything. At the far edge of the map in the woods. It's maybe one of the best secluded base locations in the game. {house/fireplace/wood stove/double garage/well/chicken coops/animal barn/hay stacks}
So sad it ended that way, but hey, you discovered a unique B42 bug, so that's something! 😂 I'd love to see another PZ playthrough, I've been really loving watching you play. Maybe try starting in West Point, it's like mini Louisville - CRAZY zombie pop, but great loot. Also, a tiny helpful tip I learned is that you can pause the game while in the map!! If you go to the map, you can immediately press F2, and it'll pause the game. You can still fully use the map, too, you can set your markers and use the map leisurely so you can figure out where you want to go - same with annotated maps.
The developers of the games you play and stream should start paying you a cut, because after 5 years of having this game in my wishlist I finally bought it because of you 😂
I hope the keybind function will get bug fixed asap, this series is an absolute blast and I hope you can get replay a new game file soon, I am having such a blast. Thank you.
The keybind isn't really the problem, it's that you can't cancel the long animation once it starts. If it was possible to cancel the animation by hitting the sprint button or movement keys the same way you can cancel all other timed actions, then this death wouldn't have happened.
@@Arciankeybinding IS a problem... At least in this exact case. The whole system of corpses and dragging them in this game was added specifically in the build Insym was playing on. It's non-existent in build 41, for example, as many had pointed out in chat during the "let's try to figure out, and reproduce it" segment in the end... And yes, the keybinding for an action that's barely being used set up to be triggerable via GENERAL INTERACT key is just... an arguable decision... Especially since picking up bodies can be done with interact rmb menu just as easily, and is not gonna mess up the priority of actions. But yeah, canceling the long animations when they're triggered also one of the things that is worth addressing.

That the "Grab Corpse" binding isn't overwriting the general "Interact" binding is absolutely, 100% a problem that should be rectified as soon as possible, along with allowing animation canceling for corpse interactions.

You make gameplay look so smooth and easy! HOW?! ... wizard...😂I struggle with the controls to this game... I know I still need more practice, but the jank that gets you killed in the most stupid of ways when you need them to work the most, makes playthroughs frustrating and I find myself avoiding things to avoid bugs and I hate playing like that. Unstable has been fun to play to see what's coming and that's exciting, but still I think the UI and gameplay controls could really do with an update
Also, I think you under estimate people in the country... they have to be the most resourceful compared to cities that have everything - I get the best loot from the outskirts

ooof. The key bind option for picking up corpses should absolutely override everything. If it's set to "unbound" there shouldn't even be a key bind associated with it, especially not using the main interaction key. That's illogical. This is definitely a bug with the new corpse system. Unfortunate. I agree with a lot of chat that said to cheat it away after he was bit. That shouldn't have happened.
Ps - you can continue the play through with another character, got retake your base and cleared areas, and kill your own walker... It would be a good 'continuation' of sorts.
Is it possible to use the alarms to lure the zombies into corridors such as the railroad tracks? or does every sound made essentially lure them toward the player?
I would have edited to fix that, such a shame for such a great run to end like that. For AoE, could you set a house on fire with an oven left on and lead them through it? If you can't unbind hold E can you set your E key as a macro that does press and release for 1 frame?

Insym should reload the game and start before he got biten because that was clearly a bullshit bind that should not be there because of the build 45 new pick up zombie mechanic. INSYM RELOAD THE GAME and treat it as one of those nightmares!
Want more, you got me started playing again... btw, get any leather jacket as quick as you can, and cut up other clothes you come across for the thread. Once you get some leather strips extra, you put extra padding on your jacket, pants and a few others thru the inspect menu on the clothing items. Has already saved me from bites 3 times and just makes a hole in the clothing that you can repair. I was cringing so hard with you taking on all that with no protection which is what the holes in your clothing does. It's not just the items condition, it's broken into several parts in the inspect menu.
Hopefully this version gets multiplayer soon. I want to see a terrible trio walkthrough again plus with Thorlar and Mago, maybe And hopefully, the bugs will get fix. Cause it's annoying
The holding E to pick up bodies isn't a bug. When you start a game, the pop up that explains build 42 actually says to hold E to grab a body. So its just a fucking stupid mechanic. Hopfully someone makes a mod to disable that.
Sprinting over fences is super dangerous, it can cause you to stumble and fall which can easily get you killed. It also causes a lot more exhaustion. Doing that to avoid what imo is an obvious bug or at least oversight is not a solution.
Sometimes you get lucky with being bitten and don't turn into a zombie. Happened to me in one run. There is a slim chance. Hate how it ended. I watched every episode. Not live but every second of it
I want to see Insym get to day 100 have a base made, on a different note I think there is a mod to meet survivors in the game like NPCs that help you defend your base and stuff.

This game for me personally is WAY much enjoyable with multihit turned on(somewhere in the game or character settings, it's vanilla) Without it, i doubt i would had ~20k zombie kills only from Louisville(for people wonder how many is enough, we had no zombie respawn in multiplayer, we killed overall more than ~40-50k zombies and it's barely 1/4 of whole city, so answer is "yes"), also, yeah i agree multihit feels very OP some times, but it's literally thousands of zombies and a single mistake can ruin 200 hrs playthrough. I think this is fair trade and feels less a chore to clear very big places. (also, some weapons like katana SHOULD multihit by default, why this isnt a thing?) Also, there is so much freedom in 'what will be end goal?' in this game. Reach biggest town is one thing, but can you loot the mall? lol
so hey uhm... it's like... a new calendar year and all... and the probabilities suggest that lots of fiscal years are probably also done with a full year just a few days back. Spoiler* My favorite play through next to if not better than subnotica. I’m super disappointed, but I understand all things have to end. Just hope we can return to this game again before another 2-4 year break lol. Also I pretty much only watch insym on RUclips so I really enjoy longer play throughs.
Build a base closer to the city or once youve got in maybe have a better lockdowned base with stuff youve built that way you wont need to rely on going back and fourth insym just an idea for future but still was a good play through
I've been watching these videos and it made me get back into the game, but the fence cheese is actually annoying to me personally. I think it takes away from the difficulty, regardless of the lunges, and its a lame tactic considering there are better ways of killing off hordes of zombies that's actually entertaining. Dumb way to die but zombies definitely were owed that one cause they been taken advantage of lol 😂looking forward to seeing you run it back though and I'm very excited to see how the game develops on release of this patch!

Oh yeah, you can't pick corpses up by accident, if you're pressing and holding any of the wasd keys. Moving cancels the animation, if it happens.
I'm pretty sure you had a pistol in your truck.
Also according to the wiki in build 41&42 only players with the Engineer occupation can make Firebombs

Yeah thats why i dont do hold E on fences, just sprint over them and it auto vaults, doesnt work for windows however

Can’t you create a new character on the same map and find zombie you and/or the truck? I’m pretty sure I’ve done that.

This game for me personally is WAY much enjoyable with multihit turned on(somewhere in the game or character settings, it's vanilla)
Without it, i doubt i would had ~20k zombie kills only from Louisville(for people wonder how many is enough, we had no zombie respawn in multiplayer, we killed overall more than ~40-50k zombies and it's barely 1/4 of whole city, so answer is "yes"),
also, yeah i agree multihit feels very OP some times, but it's literally thousands of zombies and a single mistake can ruin 200 hrs playthrough. I think this is fair trade and feels less a chore to clear very big places. (also, some weapons like katana SHOULD multihit by default, why this isnt a thing?)
Also, there is so much freedom in 'what will be end goal?' in this game. Reach biggest town is one thing, but can you loot the mall? lol
so hey uhm... it's like... a new calendar year and all... and the probabilities suggest that lots of fiscal years are probably also done with a full year just a few days back. And I recall you mentioning how you tend to spend a whole day doing taxes and whatnot... and so.... just curious.... how's it going??? 🤣🤣😂
In Canada at least, fiscal year ends in April! No idea if that’s the case in the Netherlands though haha

Spoiler* My favorite play through next to if not better than subnotica. I’m super disappointed, but I understand all things have to end. Just hope we can return to this game again before another 2-4 year break lol. Also I pretty much only watch insym on RUclips so I really enjoy longer play throughs.

it sucks bad that a minor control issue killed your character. hope you will start a new playthrough.
Build a base closer to the city or once youve got in maybe have a better lockdowned base with stuff youve built that way you wont need to rely on going back and fourth insym just an idea for future but still was a good play through

I've been watching these videos and it made me get back into the game, but the fence cheese is actually annoying to me personally. I think it takes away from the difficulty, regardless of the lunges, and its a lame tactic considering there are better ways of killing off hordes of zombies that's actually entertaining. Dumb way to die but zombies definitely were owed that one cause they been taken advantage of lol 😂looking forward to seeing you run it back though and I'm very excited to see how the game develops on release of this patch!
