    Would a program rather leave a redidency spot unfilled than taking a weak candidate? I mean generally speaking, not just internal medicine.

    • @DirtyMedicine
      @DirtyMedicine  6 лет назад +1

      it depends. if its an average-or-higher program, they are better off letting somebody good take that unfilled spot through various means than ranking somebody obviously weak. To be honest, there are so many factors that go into this that it's difficult for me to give you a straight answer

  • @Pewpshmear
    @Pewpshmear 6 лет назад

    great video. I feel like the data regarding "research" experiences may be misleading. I'd like to see the range for that particular variable since although the average number of research experiences may be "low" for IM, there are many who go into IM in order to specialize later on (e.g. hem/onc, GI, cardio, etc...) and I imagine that those who match into these fellowships likely have a greater number of research experiences. Are you aware of a resource that breaks down these data for the different IM subspecialties?

    I have a question and would be very grateful if someone educated could answer it.
    How big (realistic) chance do I have to match into internal medicine as an IMG (Czech Republic, Europe) with Step 1 score 249 and step 2 CK let's say 260 (gonna take it in 3 months) without any US clinical experience (observeship, elective). I know that I disadvantage myself if I do not have any USCE. But It's very difficult for me to pay for it.
