Oh my god, you are describing exactly what my expectation and experience was when I started out in watercolor. I hope this video helps many others that are starting out. I loved watching it. ❤
I love your thinking! Very happy to see a new (to me), different approach to watercolours. You have just made my world bigger. And I love the result, too.
Your art is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your process.
I totally understand your idea about avoiding the granulation aspect of watercolor! Furthermore I avoided all colors that were semi opaque as well! Over the years I’ve come to understand that even the most opaque watercolor can be used effectively and to great advantage! This was a lovely painting, and I enjoyed the use of just three colors! Thank you! ClaudiaSJI
My first watercolor set had a couple of granulating paints and I thought those were the inferior paints that had separated. Later when I learned about granulation and using it it add texture, I appreciated those paints that I had set aside. I still have half a tube of this lovely cobalt green deep from that set that that I use as a secret weapon for interesting mossy textures.
Also I want to say that your painting is beautiful and I'm glad you're sharing your appreciation for granulation and ultramarine blue.
You make it look so easy🫶
Great presentation. This surely is something I benefited from hearing.
So beautiful. And lovely words too
I love Mission Gold paints. They have the least shift from wet to dry. Almost every painting I make using them turn out better than anticipated. They along with Daniel Smith are my absolute favorites.
Gorgeous!
Wonderful! I embraced granulation immediately and have sought it out. I love it! But you’re right… it’s a parlor trick. Like you say, you’re along for the ride. But you do learn to control it a bit, and bring it out for a big effect. Your drawing skills are lovely.
Lovely 🌻 so many valuable insights
the granulation is ✨perfect ✨
This is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. 🌻
Thank you so much, you make it look so simple….very inspiring. I love the granulating effect.😊

So yummy!!
When did you paint the eyes?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🏻🎉
Face suddenly got detailed
Maybe because the video is about texture, so the focus is on the hair. But yes, I wish she would have included the footage of the face rendering as well.
I really enjoy your articulacy. Thank you.
