I currently have the i230s in the bag and they are by far my favorite irons I’ve ever gamed. My handicap is a +1 and before these I had the 2021 p770’s in the bag. Before that I had a combo set of JPX 921 tours and forged and I honestly think in my irons I’ll keep the 230s in the bag until the replacement for them comes out in 2 to 3 years and then I’ll upgrade to those. When it comes to consistency Ping absolutely have nailed it and that is what we are all looking for in Golf. Consistency is KEY
Mike, just a suggestion but when you show something on the screen like the shot tracers from the golfers view, as at 6:54, or the screenshot of the data averages, keep them on the screen long enough to see what is actually being shown. I'd rather look at that longer than presented here. All too often I have to pause the video, or go back afterwards and find it to look at it again. Thanks. I do enjoy the videos and just trying to help you make them better.
Hit both of these recently at Roger Dunn… zx7 mkii way softer and workable. T150 felt more “Clicky” and faster off the face. Was looking to replace my newer ‘23 p790 set with the T150’s but the feel was just not there for me. Zx7 mkii’s still by far the best feeling and easiest set I’ve played all year and I’ve hit almost everything at this point on the Roger dunn shelf
The feel was good on the i230 to me, and I've warmed to the satin finish like Mizuno did on the 923 tour. My issue is upcharge for all the different shafts compared to the Mizuno. Great club though. At this place in the players cavity market I think you are looking for looks and shaft options. Nothing else. They all perform pretty similar.
You hvae a 32 degree (T150) vs a 34 degree (i230). All things considered they are essentially the same. The Titleist are absolutely gorgeous to look at!
@@kane1928 equally soft imo. The ZX7 turf interaction is miles ahead of anything I hit. I hit T100 T150 P770 I230 Apex pro Cobra Tour. The sole on the ZX7 is technology I wouldn’t of believed in without seeing it myself
@@jasonnewberry4379 are you a steeper swinger? I had the previous ZX7s but had to move away from them because I’m a bit more shallow and the turf interaction was not something I cared for and it didn’t work well on firm turf, for me.
Just ordered my i230’s. Tested indoors with good numbers then played 3 holes on course. Really nice club with control and great dispersion even from miss hits. Upgraded from Stealth irons
I’ve just got my T150s. Absolutely love them but the Pings are also impressive considering they are cast rather than forged. You can’t go wrong with any modern iron they are all very good.
Literally have both of these in my possession right now and can’t decide which to keep and which to sell. I absolutely love the feel and dispersion of the i230, but I’ve only hit the T150 once so I need to maybe give them a fair shot
I love mine can’t complain. They interact out of the turf so clean. I love the feel off the center too (and for me they are still pretty workable seeming I came from t100 before these t150s)
Michael, I have watched many of your videos over the years. Always comprehensive, fair, balanced and to the point. This comparison however prompted me to ask you why neither you, nor any other Utube Golf analyst ever includes comment on iron durability? Take the player who is a real enthusiast as many who follow you are, who possibly aspires to a forged clubhead, yet is a frequent visitor to the practice ground with its attendant grassy / muddy / 'gritty ball' playing conditions, which are not kind re clubhead face wear. Imagine that player buying a set of new or used MP18's, IMO the best blade ever made, and seeing severe wear on say his 9 - 6 irons within say a year and the attendant rust / rust removal issue, simply because of the soft carbon steel under the thin surface chrome layer. This despite best efforts to use different irons to spread the wear. Not a problem if you have a thousand pounds to spend on irons every year. Most of us dont! This particular video comparison SCREAMS out for your comment on the comparative durability of Forged Carbon Vs Stainless clubfaces, as an important differentiator in decision making, given how close these clubs were in your opinion for feel and sound. How good and durable irons like the S55's have been over the years a case in point. Something to think about?
The T150 feel is crisp and satisfying but definitely not soft for a one piece forging like a Mizuno or Zx7. Still a great iron and definitely worth testing.
Not really surprising that the two are neck to neck on feel. Despite the forged pieces the T150 is a hollow body construction which makes the irons feel different from the one-piece forgings. The Ping has clearly a lot to go for it.
@@jonmoyers7620what is it then? One-piece forged head? That's not what we can see on the Titleist website - head formed of two metal pieces welded together creating a hollow compartment where the tungsten weights are lodged. This is hollow body construction in my book, ad opposed to one-piece forged heads.
These were my 3 choices as well. I went with the i230s. Just more consistent overall. I think the t150s felt a little softer and really wanted them, but the performance wasn’t the same. I was a Mizuno guy and just didn’t get along with the 245s. Too hot off the face.
One thing’s for certain with forged they age like garbage with the bag chatter, will make them look substantially older after a few years ping on the other hand, nearly the same years later, wish they still made their old standard grips. They never lost tackiness they almost never fade. mine are Still tacky after 13 years, only the logo “sticker” on my i15s is only thing that is tattered
Titleist all day. I've played Titleist most of my golfing life, tried others, went back to Titleist, now I don't bother with other brands. The classic look, thinner topline, overall appearance and performance is hard to beat. Try them all and find what works for you! 👍
Put the i230 in the bag. Moving from Mizuno MP20 MB’s they don’t feel as soft but you can certainly get some impressive results from some god awful swings! 😂
I really like this channel but one of these review channels needs to set the record straight. Forged is not synonymous with soft. Cast is not firm. The materials used are what gives the club its feel.
I tried the T150 on launch monitor, incredibly impressive design. Honestly I wouldn’t waste my time looking at any Ping iron. I’d compare T150 to the new Apex CB and Mizuno 243. T150 I thought was reasonably soft feel and controllable though not comparable to my Miura’s. My big concern would be gapping them in a mixed set w/T100. The T150 lofts and hot face makes them crazy long but still high spin and steep descent angle. The 32* 7-iron, is full club stronger than my Miura 7, which is 36*, and averaged 20 yds longer but the spin was nearly equal; 10 swings with each my Miura 501 averaged 7120, the T160 6985. The T100 was being used by my buddy who was getting fitted on a pure T100 set. We talked about 6-9 T100 and 4-5 T150 but the T150 is not only 2* stronger the face seems hotter. Even weakening the T150 2* would seem to still have gapping issues. Maybe that’s not an issue for a mid-handicapper who’s strikes are less consistent but a good ball striker who can score wants to maintain the 12-15 yd gaps. I enjoyed the T150 enough that I’m considering going to ‘dark side’ and getting fitted for a T100/T150 combo set, if we can work out the gapping. I honestly swore I’d never game any iron that isn’t a Miura, but those new Titleist’s are really solid sticks 👍
Hoping the Ping 230 was the right choice. Golf season ended in the Northeast. Still have not received till mid January expected Not crazy about that. Would have had Titleist already. Getting graphite shafts made it take longer. Hope it is worth it

I have both sets. Ping is a little more forgiving but t150 looks better, goes higher (for me) and gets in and out of turf better.
Just hit them both on the range. No contest. The T150’s are amazing. Feel and distance wow. Mizuno 221’s are coming out of the bag. Thanks!
Can you compare the t100 and or the t150 vs the Cobra CB? I’d like to know if all that tungsten actually does anything. Thanks?

The titleist is unarguably softer; the metallurgy cannot lie. However, the sound the clubs make - now that can be different.
