Thank you for showing the process of assembling each section of triangles. I am planning a welding project involving a D20, and I was having trouble visualizing how to put it together. This helped loads and will make it a lot easier to put it together for the first time
Aww I wish I found this video before making my first foam prop (a giant D20) for a stage performance. But now I know how to improve my methods. Thank you so much, 2 years later!!
That's a big dice! I'm going to use alot of your ideas to throw a dnd wedding reception for my son😍 They will love ALL your stuff. Thank you for sharing your talents!!
Here we are 1 year in and it gave me all the instructions needed to build it up. I thank you very much. I had to do some slight modification because of materials. I used cardboard and gorilla tape to hold it up together. I'm happy with the result. Thank you yet again.

Not even sure how I have ended subscribed to you, but I figure it has something to do with Jazza, but that was a nice dice you made. Hopefully someone who really wants it gets the other dice. I liked watching you make it.

@@NastyDeb Well thank you so much for choosing to sub to my channel - I hope you like my videos, I've got lots of fun projects coming up that I can't wait to share :-)
Awesome job! Your dice came out beautifully! Just curious as to the actual size. I am going to attempt to make one out of some insulation foam (pink board) and was trying to figure out how big of a triangle to start with.
Hi.. if its sitting on a flat side its just under 30cm tall. I think I made the triangle sides 16cm tall from the centre of one side to the opposite tip. I hope that helps!
This was so helpful. I've been thinking about making a giant wooden set to go with my 10 foot dice tower and this was the push I needed to finally complete the d20 and d12 haha
That was a perfect tutorial, thank you! So easy to follow along, i am inspired to make my own giant foam d20 and you've given me the confidence to do it right! 💙
Thank you so much for the feedback. That's exactly the kind of response I was hoping for, thank you!!! And good luck building your D20.. you can definitely do it!
Amazing tutorial thank you! We’re about to create a giant D20 3xs the size of this to use in an interactive theatre show. Do you have any advice to ensure it’s durable enough for throws during a show. Is the 10mm strong enough or would you suggest filling it with a lighter foam/sponge material. Thanks
Ooo that sounds like fun! 3x the size would be awesome!! The 10mm I used for mine is sturdy enough for the size I made it.. if it was 3x the size I wonder if the sides might bow or curve inward and not stay flat.. I'm not sure. It wouldn't hurt to use a thicker foam, which would be sturdier but it would also be heavier (its not really all that heavy anyway though). Or I guess you could put a stiff flat piece of plastic or something stuck on the inside of the foam to keep the sides from warping at all. But that adds more work. I think your best bet is to just test it and perhaps be prepared that you might need to make a few prototypes first.
Now that's a biiiiiiiiiiiiiig dice!!!! But an even bigger talent 😁 Awesome video......now very tempted to make one big enough for a helmet 🤔 Bel whispers: "that die would look very good in my collection.......mmwhahaha"
@@Swanstardesigns Lol duhhhhh that makes sense. Any suggestions for adding some weight to it? Or did you feel that just the foam, adhesive, and paint added enough heft on its own? I don't want to make a "loaded" dice, but added a bit of heft to encourage chucking at folks might be fun :P EDIT: to add context, I'm wanting to run some sessions outside, so having people throw it more like 10-15 yards would be highly encouraged lol
@@fitz5213 I think it's got a pretty good weight to it, but you might want to double up on the thickness of the triangles so that they don't bow in the middle. That'll also add more weight evenly, too.
Thank you so much for sharing your design! I want to use your design to create table centerpieces for my son’s Bar Mitzvah. I don’t understand why I need to bevel each side if I’m able to cover the gaps with the layer of 1mm foam on the seams, and/or using the fill in foam. What do you suggest?
If you're going to cover the gaps then you wouldn't need to create the bevel (although it would make it easier to glue together with the bevel). I didn't know if I was going to cover the edges as I was making it, which is why I put in the bevel.
Big question so I'm in wood working and I couldn't find any other video on how to do this but yours so would I be able to follow this video at least somewhat accordingly just with wood of course tools would have to be changed but my concern is measurements when it comes to the angle needed for the bevell
I don't remember exactly - and filming it makes it take longer, but I'd say a couple of days. You could def do it in a few hours, tho the glue/paint would need time to dry.
i used this video to help me make my giant d20, but I used wood, so all i had to do was adjust the angle on my saw to 20.9, it gives its own bevel on upon cutting
This is incredible! I love both of the giant D20s. I am making a custom giant Jenga set with a sublet of rules. Each time you withdraw a brick it will have a lazer engraved symbol on one side and a line of text with an action on the other. One of the blocks you have to roll a D20 to determine the action. We are all DnD players so I incorporated this into the game. I would love have a chance to win hour giant D20 to go with the giant Jenga set. I can't see how to enter the competition. Please let me know how to enter. I love you videos! Edit update: I'm an idiot. That's a big dice
Great tutorial! Really easy to follow. One question, I accidentally bought 6mm foam. Do you think that's thick enough and will hold up to use? I'm going to try anyway, but I'm scared it'll break, or the foam might bend
Hi - that's a good question. The faces might sag or dent inwards but I think that depends on the size you're making and the density of the foam. If you have enough foam perhaps you could glue two sheets together to make it thicker. Good luck with your build - feel free to tag me on any social media, I'd love to see the finished result.
@@Swanstardesigns Thanks so much! I don't have extra foam, so I might try gluing thick popsicle sticks to the inside of the triangles to give them more support. We'll see how it goes!
