After Starfield I no longer care what Developers say about their game. It's not like they're going to say, "oh yeah, we made bad choices, and this is a bad game". Now I just wait for reviews after release, and I never pre-order or rush in to buy on release.

It's really just a triple AAA game thing. Rarely do you see it with AA or A games that can do very well compared to their supposed "Better" counterparts.
The way they describe the open world starting small and growing and growing makes it sound like the outer worlds. You start on one planet, then get access to another then another. You don’t have access to the full map until you progress the story

The idea of a Star Wars game starting out small, then opening up to larger and larger, and having five planets - that made me think of KoToR. Im sure many, many games have followed this formula, but I thought of KoToR because of Star Wars.
Of course, KoToR wasn't open world, but you start out in the Republic ship, then spend some time on Taris (first just the upper level, then opening up the lower levels as well), and then when you get the Ebon Hawk, you have four or five planets you can choose from.
The Outer Wilds had 5 handcrafted planets and that game is a gem❤

@@victorcharles27 You're thinking of Outer Worlds. Outer Wilds is an indie artsy exploration/puzzle game with no combat and is widely praised by critics and players alike (as long as you aren't turned off by the premise).

@@nikolaig1 🤣 and in AC you’re on a horse or a chariot lmao… In this game you’re on a speeder that is going WAY faster, GTA 5 takes around 5-6 minutes to get from one end to the other… Also they are talking about 1 end to the other in a straight line never mind everything else that is around in the north end of the map and the south end of the map, It takes 4-5 minutes to get from east to west… Apparently this game as a whole is close to the size of odyssey and that game was massive as a whole… This game will also have expansions with more content, Besides the hate Ubisoft continues to get I think this game has the chance to be waaayy better than people are giving it credit for… do I think it’s gonna be game of the year? Probably not, But I think it’s gonna be a very solid game… I guarantee if this game is actually good people will still hate on it because it’s Ubisoft, 100% people will not come out and say “you know what this game was actually pretty good”… So no matter what I think this game is screwed when it comes to getting a fair shot on it’s reviews because people will hate on it regardless, Like I said because it’s Ubisoft..
The greatest win for Outlaws as a space open world game compared to Starfield - *TRANSPARENCY*
1. They're showing upfront what it would look like to land on a planet - select from a list of locations, but seamless transitions
2. They've confirmed that on a speeder it would take 4-5mins to traverse any zone.
This is such a better approach than the fake 1000 world marketing by Bethesda.
Saying “for the first time ever we are getting an open world Star Wars game” is absolute BS. Star Wars Galaxies and The Old Republic say hello.

KOTOR is not open world.
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction had a very similar factional progression system for getting better vehicles, weapons and territorial friend or foe status. That game system was AWESOME!!! Hope they pull it off in this game

When you watch the Tatooine segment, you can tell when Kay rides out towards the gangster's hideout, that after a point it "loads" through cutscenes until she arrives and dismounts the speeder bike. Nothing wrong with that at all except that doesn't count as open world. Ubisoft should stop using the term "open world" that's all.
Or mabey tattooine is a linear area because not all the planets are gonna be open also you can’t call any game open world because how much loading is in starfield or how many zones that have to load are in Witcher 3

I just HATE, that they give us "freedom" to explore but not freedom to create our own character? Do what Mass Effect did where you can use the character shown in trailers or make your own.

The map in Ghost of Tsushima is tiny, but damn was it GOOD.
I keep my eye on it, but i certainly won't be picking it up until it gets its Steam release (like all other Ubisoft games get eventually).
Isn't it on day 1 game pass not that it's going to matter to me I buy deluxe editions. On things I'm interested in.
Hopefully it turns out to be a good game so more developers are given the chance to develop Star Wars games

I don’t know why but every time I see gameplay for this game I get sleepy.
Because the core loop is bad. The shooting is sparse and boring; no destructible cover, no dynamic AI, no unique weapons. The core of the gameplay is just outright boring. And it doesn't even have a proper melee system like 007 Everything or Nothing or Sleeping Dogs, instead it's just press-X-to-win, which is super lazy.

That’s not what a core loop is though. That’s just gameplay. A core loop is the set of activities you do which you‘ll repeat numerous times as you play the game and we haven’t even seen what that looks like yet.
It is almost like the devs are inexperienced 20 year olds..

Ghost of Tsushima lets you unlock special strikes by seeking mini bosses and defeating them in combat, so not exactly the first game to tie levelling up with a storyline. Naturally, it was only a small part in Ghost of Tsushima, but we haven't really seen how character progression works in Star Wars: Outlaws. It could be that gaining any skill is tied to a storyline, or you could gradually unlock more skills as you progress in the main story - something that Assassin's Creed games have been doing since the very beginning.

I'm certain that this game is only made because they had assets from Beyond Good and Evil 2. It's similar to the Avatar, where they used Far Cry assets.

The leveling up mechanic is very much akin to Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Do X amount of things in a certain way [Stealth takedowns, headshots, etc.] but the having to seek out an expert makes doing the side quests actually worth exploring and doing.
The moment i saw UBI stamp and the locked mission behind paywalls i was out , And lets face it this will be hyped then released and forgotten in 2 months . Unless they F things up ..then it will be RUclips fodder for a year lol

20 year old me would be totally super into this. I was, it was called Star Wars Galaxies at the time. I've been done with Star Wars and Disney for a long time now however. Short of this hitting like Fortnite numbers I don't see myself ever bothering with this and I put 160 hours into SSKTJL. So many other game to play right now and those aren't based on IP's that has hurt my feelings for the past 25 years.

Size of the open world isn't always the key... it's what's in the open world. I'd rather a small dense and varied open world over a large mostly empty world.

It’s a better business model than just being on game pass day 1 (not that they’ll be on game pass for a while anyways). Maximizes profits, gives you a chance to monitor player data, make hotfixes, etc. Then sell on 3rd party marketplaces like Steam, etc. Still, will wait for the first few patches before buying. I’m enjoying FarCry 5 at the moment for the first playthrough
Crossing a planet in 5 minutes by speeder isn’t bad. That means it would take 25 minutes to speed across all 5 planets. Isn’t that usually about the size of a large open world map. I’m sure crossing Zelda’s or the Witcher or any assassins creed map takes less than 25 minutes

Me too...Odyssey was my most played game ever until Elden Ring...This Star Wars game doesn't really have me all that excited though...I'm not even sure exactly why, but it's just not appealing to me in the same way...I guess I will wait until it is out in the wild before I make a decision...
Odyssey would have been good if they didn't make it such a pain in the ass to level up during the middle portion of the game without the stupid xp boost. Moving to a level based system killed AC
@@RekashalGames I forgot about that lol. I tend to like grindy games so the slow progression didn't bother me, but I remember a lot of people being very annoyed by it. Hopefully they don't add any "XP boost" to buy, but considering it is Ubisoft I wouldn't be shocked if they had some utility stuff to buy after the game releases.
@@RekashalGames Now that you mention it, I do remember people complaining about that...I never felt underpowered after the beginning areas so I just didn't worry much about leveling...I just never felt like it held me back...I can understand why that would be annoying for some people though, and it's ridiculous that they sell that crap as mtx...I have never once bought a microtransaction, so it never really occurred to me at the time that this is why they slowed the progression...
I just cannot fathom how people can enjoy such a sloppy combat system. It really highlights how few games today's generation has played.

11:05 I'm going to be honest, particularly with Star Wars, I would personally prioritize the amount of planets than the size. I saw a lot of people, back with Jedi Fallen Order, who said the maps were too small. But for me, I was willing to make all the maps in the game a little bit smaller just to have another planet.
And I realize I might be in the minority of accepting that tradeoff because they did the opposite in Jedi Survivor. There were less planets to explore but the ones you could were a lot bigger.
I just want a Star Wars game without a cute sidekick...

There are hordes in Days Gone right from the start. You can run into them if you are driving around. They don't show you on your map until later and you don't get the better equipment until later also. Good luck with a handgun and crossbow

This is one of those games I'm about to wait till the actual game releases with real reviews so I'll make a decision because I've been burned too many times by Ubisoft
The things i'm going to hate about the lore of this game is that I can guarantee there will be no Tyber Zann featuring (which I know, that's a real wild card but it's the perfect game for him to become canon in) or MUCH more importantly, Prince Xizor whose prowess and control rivaled that of the Emperor himself and he would be an incredible inclusion in this game as he was such a powerful criminal overlord in the legends lore.
Except for you have to have people intelligent enough and with enough drive to develop a sufficient story and sadly that does not seem to exist in the current cadre of game developers. It goes against everything that is profit driven, which seems to be the mission of big game studios. Its not about the art or the fun anymore sadly. I also have a lot of fond memories of star wars legends stuff that i just had to keep in my home collection and remember how it used to be. God i sound like an old guy…..
Guys, remember, it's not the devs that are pushing "not owning games with subs" it's their subscription director. The devs seem like they genuinely care for the game and seem to be having fun. I think this one is worthy.
You can get from one end of the GTAV map to the other in about 2 - 3 minutes with any decent supercar, maybe less. If anyone is bitching about it taking 5 - 6 minutes *on a speeder* and that being *short* - they should start a stopwatch and let it go for 6 minutes, it's a lot longer than you think.

For a whole planet that is short. I didn't time it, but it would probably take ten or more minutes to traverse all of Ghost Recon Wildland's map from one side to the other. So yeah, that's not really that big.
@@Billy-bc8pk being big isn’t the goal, I’d say. It’s having content to fill the space. Which Ghost recon, from what I recall, doesn’t.
@@Detriax 100% agreed. But it looks like this has even less gameplay mechanics than Ghost Recon, which is quite telling. Unless they whip out something ahead of its release; at least Wildlands had a nice variety of vehicles, weapons, and some poorly designed stealth mechanics. Plus, you had some of the vertical trekking, and sniper opportunities -- doesn't appear as if any of that is present in this Star Wars game.

Seems like a generic 7/10 Ubisoft game; you’ll have fun for like 5 hours then never pick it up again.
Try 4/10 at best I might even say 3 this is gonna be a flop of epic proportions

My bigger concern is how will Outlaws perform on PS5 and Series X. I really hope they don't need to compromise on the visuals and performance to much. I am actually really interested in Outlaws but hesitant because of how badly Jedi Survivor performed on console

I haven't seen anything yet that makes this an open world. It looks more linear, with some areas. Even if you can travel planet to planet, they have only show small open areas and set pieces, which I would not call open world. The one spot they showed that could make it the open world they describe in the 4-5 minutes on a speeder bike to travel from one end of a planetary area to another, comparing it to Odyssey and saying it is around 2-3 of Odyssey's zones, which isn't huge, but it is a good size for each planet area. Curiously, they have shown nothing of the open world of that area. When on a planet, do you travel point A to B and only engage with the set pieces and towns they show, or is there a lot to do out there planetside? If so, it's strange they haven't shown anything. If not, why have that big area and market this as open world? Not knocking on it. It's just a point where I don't know what to expect from this.

Odyssey was huge, in fact one of the things reviews were critical on was it was TOO big and could have benefitted being concentrated a bit more. @@fish5645 Take it easy there friend. Some Odyssey zones weren't too too big and some were huge, so there is quite a bit of leeway there. Also I said 2-3 zones, but the devs said "2." Still pretty big, because 5 minutes of travel on a speeder bike is a decent amount of distance. However, not huge, per se, as RDR2 by horse took around 15 minutes to cross, by way of comparison. I'm not even concerned with the size at any rate. 5 minutes to cross is fine. More important is the depth of engagement of that area, or is it mostly empty with a couple of random encounters, because like I said, they have shown literally nothing of the actual open world area.
@@fish5645 Who cares if it's massive with nothing in it? Ghost Recon Wildlands has one of the coolest and largest open world maps with hardly anything exciting to do in it other than the same handful of repetitive missions. They had all these really cool biomes that were large and expansive but nothing unique to indulge in when it came to the gameplay, hazards, enemy variety, or even vehicles. It was a copy-paste job of content throughout richly unique art assets, and it seems like that will be the same thing with this game -- large swathes of repetition spread over a relatively "massive" map.

Everything about this would have been better if you could play as a Mandalorian or your own custom scroundrel or bounty hunter.
They shouldn't use the term "open world" because the star wars world is a whole galaxy. And no one can deliver THAT open world.
What they are discrediting on how to level up isn’t anything novel. Many games do things like that. Ubisoft themselves have been doing it for over 10+ years for example assassin creed black flag. To get some equipment you have to to do main missions like the blow dart you get mid to late game
I’m just really disappointed that I can’t create my character in a Star Wars game like this. I don’t care about the protagonist being voiced but I really don’t want to play as her.

The standard price isn't that bad, yeah it's scummy that we are blocked out of a side quest and some outfits but so fuck we vote with our wallets if we stop giving them the money for little cosmetics ill still buy this as a star wars fan and ill probably enjoy it it seems interesting enough but im not going to take it seriously just appreciate the luxuries we have in life be grateful we have the freedom and spare time to enjoy , create and appreciate art.

I mean when it comes to days gone. If you find just about any cave there’s a massive horde lol. In every cave basically. You don’t have to wait. But I can guarantee if you try to fight that horde with no LMG you’re cooked.
I really wouldn't have minded the empty planets in Starfield (good for outposts and modders), in fact I'd have like more of the planets we got to be totally empty, if the core planets had been dense with handmade content.

Starfield isn’t open world. The biggest open locations takes around minute to get across and then loading another location
"Open World" is very subjective, how much of each planetry destination is available to explore ... Jedi Survivor was/looks far more open than Fallen Hero which was basically a "dungeon" with large open areas (albeit w very pretty walls much like Bloodborne) ... RDR2, Fallout4, AC Odyssey ... that's expansive open world sand box play ... that said have been wating for the game that puts me into a PS5 n think this might be it ...
To me the Combat looks like MJ Gameplay from Spiderman 2.

Your defended by the "Rebel locals" in Ghost Recon Wildlands. So I'm guess the system in this game is similar but with multiple factions instead of just 1.

But I know his strategy with all of that: He takes the position of the majority. If most of the people hype a game, he will be positive about it. If not, then he will be "critical"

I dont get why people would want a bunch of preocedurally generated planets tbh. I love NMS, but i feel like anyone who's played that game for long enough will start to find most of the planets fairly uniteresting after a while and not really worth exploring

Where they done fucked up imho is not allowing players to generate/create their own character. Can't cite "immersion" at me in a Star Wars game when I'm forced to play a Dora the Explorer protagonist with her cutesy alien sidekick. That's the complete opposite of immersion in a game like this for me. If I wanna play a bad ass alien or even droid "outlaw" LET ME.

I’m afraid, after my second complete playtrough and every possible ending on the main game of cyberpunk, and first playtrough of phantom liberty, games will have a very hard time competing with this caliber of quality and design, let alone reach the level of emotional gameplay and fidelity and atmosphere.
My first playtrough was at release and even then the pure ambiance got me from the first second till the last. Now they fixed it to the point where their promises in their original promotional materials became real.
Like others say, here you get one blaster?? And no skill upgrades??
The weapon options seem very low so far. Not a big fan of just a blaster pistol, why not other weapons, give me the cool guns we see in the movies. Give me the scatter gun or a Geonosis sound gun, so many options, and we get a few attachments. Oh well, I wait and see what peps say about this game and get it on a sale if at all.
