@shiz Pretty good - took a lot of getting used to since 14 years ago I was no doubt skating on 7.5s or something ridiculous. Move up felt like skating on a heavy plank of wood. I went down to an 8 shortly after and felt a lot more comfortable, however, as I started getting my strength and my twitch back, I went back to the 8.25 and it felt balanced. Can't fault the deck or the setup.
I came back skating a 8.25 as well. I have been considering dropping down to 8 or even 7.75. I feel like it’s harder to flip that thing now. Lol 8.25 may be too big idk. I tried to pick something in the middle right now with wide being so popular. But maybe my older ankles prefer smaller.

just got a duffel primate 8.25 foundation 3 days ago, skate for 3 days straight, not lot of concave on the pockets? similar. soggy, floppy when skated. i like how it feels. i guess all yeto decks have the same feel.
I have this same deck at the moment. I’d have to say I agree with you on about every point. I’m just getting back into skating at age 30 after a 6-7 year hiatus. I decided to go from a 7.75 to a 8.25 since starting again. I’m a pretty big guy at 6’2”ish with size 12 shoes So I figured it would be a welcomed change. The first board I rode since coming back was an 8.25 baker with a fairly standard popsicle shape. My toy machine is the exact same dimensions at just under 8 3/8”. The nose and tail felt huge at first being used to more pointy decks, especially the tail. It made my flip trucks do some odd things. My kick flips sort of turned into kickflip Ollie norths? The more I got used to it and the board flattened out it actually felt more comfortable. I used to ride a lot of girl and chocolate so the flat board preference may come from that. I actually had to switch from thunder 149ers to thunder 147s to Indy 139s on this deck (The slimmer trucks feel better locked into grinds and made it easier to 360 flip for me.) I would have to say that for me Indy’s feel better on this board for some reason. Keep up the good work though, Ben. It’s always cool to see someone getting out and doing what they’re passionate about.
That quarter pipe is beautiful! I think some toy machines and alien workshops are made in China. I think maybe the price point ones. Anyway, as a teen, I remember riding a lot of toy machines because I liked the shape and graphics but they snapped ALL the time. Edit: just checked the slap mag directory and it seems others think the PP toy machines are made in China too.
That was why I added those two subtitles at the end about making sure it is a pro model. There are a handful of companies that do this. Foundation too.
So frustrating that this is the way it is. It’s not much more money for the pro model boards. I feel like they should clearly state where it’s made and let the market dictate what they want to buy. I am perfectly fine with spending an extra $30 for the pro model if it’s made in Mexico or USA. I truly believe most skaters would do the same if it was clearly stated on the board where it’s made. We are willing to spend a bit more for quality and less travel overseas.
@@allstopblue5717 are pro models simply boards made for pro/sponsored skateboarders? Usually has their name on them. I’m looking for better quality than China if possible. Thank you!
So I just ordered the toy machine because I heard the press by PS sticks. And I’m just curious to try one so I got an 8.25 and the thing strikes me as maybe not odd but different in the way I was kind a looking for a lease is the wheelbase is 14.50. Honestly I’m totally stoked about it and mostly because of the wheelbase I’ve always wanted to try 14 1/2 but I just never had to go to re-drill holes. I spent many moons looking for a 14 1/2 wheelbase on an 8.25 but the biggest I could find was 14 1/4. But the description you have on this toy machine guess four years ago might’ve been pressed by a different company because it doesn’t look like a PS sticks to me anyway.
Holy shit so I just got to the part where you said the toy machine is a PS stick lol probably should’ve watched it first but I still find it weird because the other PS companies boards I’ve gotten in the past I have been like super heavy concave flying Almost taco white cock Cave. And because of that I’ve been on BBS board sit and just never look back but now I got just an inch to give it a shot little different. I don’t know how you were able to switch trucks and use different tracks like you do, I stick with venture and that’s it lol. Of course I’ve tried tensor independent and thunder and I made a dead destructive ones when I was a kid. But none of them feel quite as good as venture the only problem I have with the ventures is the bushings were out rather quick for me. I find myself changing them out but the deluxe super Cush Is practically the best fit for them and they’re so responsive even though they are a tad stiff they respond really well.
I have a chocolate deck 8.25 and wanting to get toy machine next. My current trucks are Element 5.5 Raws.. would thunders be better for a flat deck like Chocolate/Girl and TM
Hey Ben, great reviews as always, was wondering how tall you are? i'm 6'2", how much of your set up choices are dictated by your height? like board size, truck height, wheel size etc? cheers buddy from the UK!

I have bought 2 Toy Machine decks, the first I really loved, so I ordered a different one and that one was terrible. It was a completely different shape(still normal Popsicle stick) the nose felt smaller than the tail and overall the deck was just un-enjoyable to skate. Haven't got one since due to that inconsistency in shapes. EDIT: finished watching the video. It seems that the amount of choices in shapes would be a plus, but many websites don't list specs and it's hard to tell from online photos how pointy or squared off some decks are, so I'll probably steer clear of them even knowing they have options I'd probably enjoy. I'm currently loving Deathwish decks. They feel lighter than the standard 8.75 deck and the shape is also good.
Im a heavy-weight guy (200 punds) so I'm picky with my decks. Mostly I look for good durability and I hate pointy nose and tail. Right now Im still skating my Primitive board which is really durable, its already 2 months and the deck is still holding up well. Would you recommend Toy Machine decks to a guy like me? I was looking at it in my local skateshop and I love the shape, Im just worried that it will snap fast
Jesper Dogg I'm not sure if it will snap any easier or not. The primitive decks are stiffer for sure but I do like the toy machine decks shapes. I think any company there is a risk of snapping except maybe the impact plus ones(Just a guess I've never tried them) or the powell flight decks(haven't tried them either).
200 lbs is skinny to me im fuckin 290 over here and still dont ever break boards and skate everyday, if you are riding any bareback wood made brand (what primitive uses) you should have no problem with durability. If im not breakin em (a barbeback made deck) at 290 on flatground and ledges then no one shud, jumping down shit tho is dif any deck is gunna break.....
Check out "Seth's bike hacks" channel. He only ever does voice overs so he can stay consistent and his videos flow perfectly. Being a more intellectual channel here, maybe that type of style would benefit you.
Yeah I'm still riding my quasi/psstix which also a very similar shape and wood, it went soggy but I'm also holding out on spending my next check lol. I don't think it's going to last tho 😂 probably going to pick up the real Kyle walker low pro 2 deck.
Great review and skating! I was tempted to get another Toy machine to try my thunders on. Had my indys on the last one. When I first got it the pop was insane but it went away really fast.
Ben Degros I definitely enjoyed mine while it lasted but it wasn't long enough. Got some thunders for a zero deck but didn't like the feel of them on that so I'm on the never ending search for a suitable deck for them. Any recommendations?
Not off the top of my head. I would focus on wheelbase. Look for decks with a 14.25 wheelbase or smaller. Roughly 31.75 in length, mellow kicks, that sort of thing. Thunders have a way of making a flatter deck come to life.
Ben Degros Thanks for the advice. That actually helps alot. I just don't want the thunders to sit there and not get used. I used to be an indy for lifer but I'm 32 this year and want to try new things out. Thanks again and keep making these awesome videos 👍🤘
I get asked this question fairly often and I usually say indys but I am really liking my thunder hollows a lot. I need to own a pair of hollow indys before I can make that decision. Thankfully I don't have to decide that:)

Good guy good channel
Comment number 💯 and I’m probably going to buy one of these because of you.✅👍🏼do not fail me Ben...Bens my name to don’t worry lol
Nice I used to have the same thunders
Hey guys some one tell me what trucks size is that using 149 or 148?
We have alot of that in Oregon
PLEASE KEEP UPLOADING!
Is baker better?
ben can you do a 360 flip video? thank you dude
hi my feet is 38cm is it okey to have 8.25?
is that 149 indys?
It's 149 trucks right???
what size trucks are you running
Yeah I'm still riding my quasi/psstix which also a very similar shape and wood, it went soggy but I'm also holding out on spending my next check lol. I don't think it's going to last tho 😂 probably going to pick up the real Kyle walker low pro 2 deck.
Let me know how you like it. I want to try a low pro.
i always enjoyed aws ans toy machine
Review a welcome board
Can u do a baker board review
Lmao you sound like the zoolander
Dude he is so Canadian deadass
Shoutsout and love to Canada btw!!
Great review and skating! I was tempted to get another Toy machine to try my thunders on. Had my indys on the last one. When I first got it the pop was insane but it went away really fast.
Yup three sessions and it started to change. It didn't go soggy for three weeks though but if I was an indy for lifer it would have been a lame deck.
What size are your shoes?
If you could ride one pair of trucks for the rest of your life what trucks would you chose
I get asked this question fairly often and I usually say indys but I am really liking my thunder hollows a lot. I need to own a pair of hollow indys before I can make that decision. Thankfully I don't have to decide that:)
Thunder 148 team hollows all day!
@@bendegros did you get indy hollows? they're what im riding at the moment with an enjoi deck and the whole setup feels so much heavier than I'd like and not sure if its the trucks or the deck
8.25? Why does it look so big. I skated 8.5 & 8.3s but I'm back to 8.25.
Exile the nose and tail are just alot more rounded rather than being pointy.
what do you film with ben?
Jesus Christ man how many fucking parks do u have in your area? Im like drooling watching your videos bc these parks are amazing!!!!! Sick video tho man ur killin it! Good review too i cant do ps stix anymore for the flattening out quick thing u mentioned theyre great for like 3-4 sessions but being 290 lbs i flatten em out quick af! Bareback for life for me!!!
SSBSTS12 I feel guilty saying it but you have only seen a fraction of them in my videos. I don't leave Richmond or the west side of Vancouver often. If you ever come out here I will show you around.
UR kidding me??? A fraction? Uve skated like 6-7 parks total in all ur vids combined thats literally as many cement parks as the whole entire state of Michigan has... And im definitely coming out there sometime always been interested in Canada. We've been trying to get a cement park here for 10 yrs and last yr they gave us a 10 by 10 area with 2 qps! they suck too mad steep... I guess thats their idea of a cement park in Grand Rapids (the 2nd biggest city in Michigan too behind Detroit)....smh
We don't have a lot of street spots anymore but yes we are spoiled for parks. There are so many I want to go to but don't have the time.
Were you using 139 or 149 trucks?
I think it's 144 or 147 149
KWL Review! :D
make a video with skate bowls 👍
Could you review a Baker/Deathwish Board? #Bakerforlife
I would like to but I haven't been able to find any discounted ones.
Ben Degros And then try a Fs Flip like Andrew Reynolds #theboss
If I get one thats exactly what I will do:)
Ben Degros yes baker deathwish never had discount..
oh shit if he's skating a couple hours a week and he's that good it makes me feel like i can get really good. cuz i skate at least an hour every day
He’s been skating since he was young. He only skates a couple hours now because he’s older.
just bought a fa deck and then I saw a toy machine deck that’s been out of stock for ever so I bought that one too I think i’m turning into Ben no offense Ben if you see this
👍👍👍👍👍👍
6:00 that was a boardslide
No
lol. 4 weeks. Yeah this deck is soggy. Can barely skate it anymore. Every kid in America “wtf, give it to me!!”
bfbf
What size trucks do u use for the 8.25 the measurements always have me confused
Same I think it's 149 or 148
