Mame Arcade Joy Stick Mod-Mag Stick Pro

This is a mod I did to the Mag Stick Pro for a smoother throw. You can adjust it to your liking. I used the soft touch switches, but there are also adjustable switches too. The washers you can try different sizes until you find some of your liking. Links to the joystick and switches

I already swapped out the microswitches some time ago. As you mentioned, that really improved the stick. -- When I've got some time, I should give changing the washer a go as well. -- Hope it helps with my straights, they are so hard on this stick.

Sweet dude, you seem to care about 4 way and can you tell me when you switch it to 4 way does it work great for pac man. No issues with it still hitting a diagonal on accident screwing up the controls. I play super pac man and I'm trying to figure out a real 4/8 that will do it.

hdtv00 Gonna have to try this hack myself. My son is also a Super Pacman fan and he finds the Mag-Stick too tight. We want the 4 way control with the 8 way option, but we want a stick that feels more like a Happ with a longer throw. Personally, I like the feel and throw of the X-Arcade sticks. I'd like to see a 4/8 way that performed like those, but are switchable like the Mag-Stick is.

I can't tell from the video... was the stock washer the thicker one on the right and you replaced it with a thinner washer, or vice versa?

You are correct, the thicker one is stock. I made this video almost 3 years ago, and I am still happy with it!

I know this is a old video but what size hole is needed for the magstick? The shaft seems thick.

Mine is cut at 1.25", but the joystick doesn't move too far, i think you could get away with 1.00" with no problems or less
