I remember all those brands and more growing up in the 60's but it's so sad that only the Triumph remains. So many great names; Vincent, Velocette, Norton, Ariel, to name a few are now only pieces of history
At least Royal Enfield is still going, had a 1951 500 twin which was the easiest bike to start. Could put the starting lever half down before starting it, where as most bikes were very hard to start
Good god man, I just saw some of the most amazing motorcycles of all time, I'm an American and had a little knowledge of a few British bikes but not much more than that, that 37 matchless really stoped me cold and I immediately done research on it, great video
I think with 650cc Royal Enfield got us back to yesteryear's feeling, the sound of Jap Engines and the new 650 twins have lot of similarities, especially when you hear them. Yes i am talking about that unique scritchy sound, which runs parallel to exhaust sound!
You once told me you don't speak English too well, obviously you communicated well enough to put together the most interesting least-annoying motorcycle videos on the internet tubez...
Don’t you just hate it when people stroll past or stand in front of you when you are trying to photograph or film something? Even if you are only about 18 inches away from the subject!
No one could make much money - small island (relatively) x lots of manufacturers - this is just the tip of the iceberg, No V-Twins include Fanny Barnett, Norton, etc. Not much money = not much investment in technology plus WW2.
Supprised by how short a time some of these manufacturers were around, looks like the Japanese will be here for a lot longer. Sadly though, they will be forced to make electric motorcycles, so sad.
No it is certainly no copy of HD in any way. The British and German V twin engines originated around 1900. Harley waited another 9 years to introduce their V-twin.
n2dabloo Harley did keep the classic (pushrod valve train and both con-rods on one crankpin) engine layout and they deserve credits for that. No it is not the most efficient or powerful, but it has character and charisma. Most new bikes are boring as hell.
I love those old motorcycles ! Beautiful ! Works of Art !
Just the sheer beauty of that Matchless...stunning!
Awesome "JAWA TINTO" thank you for your fantastic research into some wonderful motorcycles.
Best regards from Edinburgh .
That Matchless is a pure beauty.
Agreed. that Matchless bike made me jelly
I love every bike without a battery. Viva Magnetos.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Me too

The government should have supported those firms but didn't. These technologies should have been preserved and passed on.

The Matchless is beautiful. That's a motorcycle!

The primary chain at about 1:00 made my day. This is just pure awesomeness. The meaning of badass.
Remarkably dedicated in preservation is in all the details.Great work!
Love how all the old engines had a open valve setup were now they incase them I think you see more of the engineering when there open very cool bikes
These v twin engines were supplied to British Rail for fitting to their track maintenance vehicles, to replace the old “ pump up and down type “ .
HOWARD motors
V twins are the coolest ❤
Remarkably dedicated in preservation. Great work!
Howgood does that Matchless sound though!! 😮❤
Thatsa cool chopper , love the exposed valve springs
So nice sounds no crank vibrate it is only valve and tappet noise so good only saw single type here.
Those first two sound awesome
Regardless of country of origin, the V-Twin engine is matchless.
Love the clock on the Matchless!
The Matchless is mechanical art, beautiful, thanks for posting.
And Vincent, Velocette, Norton, and all the rest!
Bikes are art, probably more than any other mechanics. At least in my tiny universe.
Matchless & Vincent for the win!
Very interesting and good video. Big thanks.
All beautiful bikes, But for me it’s the Matchless x
Yes the Matchless was beautiful !
How much would it sell for?
Nice, Sounds great
Excellent video - like all your others ones!
Thank you!
That ariel runs so smooth for a bike that age
That second bike had a handy toe amputator! 😅
That firs% bike to me sounds better than any Harley.
why did they stop making these works of art
Love that Matchless at 4:00. Classic British styling.
Nice, count me in on one or two of them .
Nice to see the engine shock absorber working well, but watch your left foot.
The very last one ,classic !!!
Excelsior!❤
OMFG I want one, but those old bikes break down weekly. I won't touch any British bike built before 2005.
Can they drive too or are they made for standing around only?
You once told me you don't speak English too well, obviously you communicated well enough to put together the most interesting least-annoying motorcycle videos on the internet tubez...
Couldn’t agree more Mr. Tockery
Of course the Vincent owner has a gold plated carby 🙂
Cool bikes

in america on holiday a yank said it’s a pity britain never made a v twin i fell off my stool
I like my feet too much to have an open primary!
👍 👍 👍

The Vincent owner needed to learn about the decompression lever.
Tuve una habia que descomprimir para arrancar, si no imposible, 180 km la
Why is it that someone for no known reason has to kick a tyre whether its a car or motorcycle (07.011)

Hi tech
'
is that copy from the HD motorcycle design
No it is certainly no copy of HD in any way. The British and German V twin engines originated around 1900. Harley waited another 9 years to introduce their V-twin.
Rick Buitendijk Thank you sir. Proud Harley owner here but damn, Harley didn’t invent the V-twin. These are real beauties.
n2dabloo Harley did keep the classic (pushrod valve train and both con-rods on one crankpin) engine layout and they deserve credits for that. No it is not the most efficient or powerful, but it has character and charisma. Most new bikes are boring as hell.
@@n2dabloo no , but Harley kept it alive. Support HD.
