  • Here is a video of the song I sang at Collegedale Community Church last Sabbath, September 24th. I had intended to sing another song, but changed it to this one at the last minute when I realized they were having a marriage seminar. I had just been asked if I would sing at the third service two days prior, and I had neglected to ask what the message would be about. I was going to sing a song about the Sanctuary (Thy Way, O God), but it seemed more appropriate, since they were having a marriage seminar, to sing this song about the marriage of the Lamb to His bride, entitled. His Wife Hath Made Herself Ready. Aside from the fact that I sang the second and fourth verses out of order, I received a lot encouraging feedback from those who were there that day. Praise God! Let us hasten the day when the bride has made herself ready.
    Incidentally, the music for this scripture song was composed by my friend, Michelle Wellington. As I remember it, back in the mid '70s before I became a believer, my sister Sandy came to stay with me for a while and she attended this church not too far from where I lived called the Sonoma Mountain Lighthouse. At the time, they met outside under a parachute on top of Sonoma Mountain. Anyway, one of the member at the time was a girl named Michelle Wellington, and she had just composed the melody for this song and since she knew I played guitar and had a good hear for figuring out chords, she asked me if I would figure out the chords to this song as she sang it, which I was happy to do. It was a year or so after that, after I had moved from Glen Ellen to Napa, California that I became a believer in August of 1977. A few years later, after I was married, she, my wife, Laurie, and I sang this song at a friend's wedding along with a few other songs such as The Voice of My Beloved, and another one from Song of Solomon which I remember laughing hysterically about while learning it, because the melody was so fun to sing. I with I could remember that song now. I remember bits of it, but not the whole thing. Anyway, good memories.

    Beautiful song! Reminded me of this stanza from “The Sands of Time are Sinking”:
    “The bride eyes not her garment,
    but her dear Bridegroom's face;
    I will not gaze at glory,
    but on my King of grace;
    not at the crown He giveth,
    but on His piercéd hands;
    the Lamb is all the glory
    of Emmanuel's land.”

    Praise God for the beauty of his word of promise and hope and for your willingness to labor with the talents given of Him for the blessing of His children! This song has blest and lifted me every since you and your dear wife first recorded it. Thank you so much!
